Cracking list! The Laddie as a daily drinker is absolutely spot on, I might change mine now :) Anything from SMWS will impress the guest for sure! I have not tried the Rittenhouse but I love rye whiskey. I find Glen Moray a big miss on the core range and a massive hit on these special bottlings so I bet that's a good one and yes you can't go wrong with Bunna warehouse fills. Awesome video, cheers!

It was great meeting you at the festival and blind tasting. Interesting picks and approach to the top 5. The mixer category might be the hardest to choose for many due to familiarity. That makes you wonder what the next nominees are going to pick.

SMWS are NOT all single casks. They have several blended malts editions that are a marriage of casks from different distilleries.

The impress your guests is a jw blue or a macallan, a nice bottle they recognize. Most people don’t care about whisky and it’s not very welcoming to bomb your guests with whisky knowledge.

Personally, I am not a huge fan of JW... and if you've seen a few of my other episodes, may know my stance on the Macallan, but to each their own! Obviously, I wouldn't plan on just bombarding them, as you say... but it's something to seed a conversation! For sure, not everyone gives a shit and would rather just drink the stuff, but I guess I'm lucky enough that (thus far) the people I enjoy drinking with share a passion for exploring their personal unknowns over revisiting something they already know. @TheWhiskyDiary maybe we have different definitions for guests... I would pour my friends one of my favorite bottles but guests as in dinner guests family friends etc if my purpose is to impress I would just get out a bottle they know as a good whisky. I person would give them a rare o really expensive bottle to someone I know wouldn't appreciate it or be "impressed by it" or maybe we just have different kinds of guests... most of mine wouldn't not be able to notice a difference between a $35 bottle and a $3,500 unless it's a macallan or a blue label.
