@@Abashed_Sticker3w As a former rich kid and now a 34-year old new mom sometimes I resent my parents for not teaching me life skills. I learned how to wash my own undies when I was 31. My then bf (now husband) and I just moved in together and he had the surprise of his life when he learned he is dating someone who doesn't know how to clean a house, do laundry, tie a knot, etc... because I didn't have to learn any of it because the maids can do it. He was raised poor, and sometimes he'd be really honest and say things like I'd never survive the real world the way I was back then. He slowly taught me a lot of things, but most of it started learning by myself because he'd give me "frustrated" looks when I do stuff around the house and he sees I'm not doing it properly. As a new mom I'd go to my husband's parents for advice about how to take care of a baby. My MIL had 6 kids she raised herself. I just learned my own parents have no idea how to mix formula or change diapers. They hired nurses and nannies for that.

You had a good upbringing. I have earned money from my family since childhood, but I always saved it and then started investing. I never felt like this money was really mine, so whenever I spent it I spent it very carefully, on durable things that I would use a lot or were very necessary. Today I'm an architect, I work, but they still give me money and the accumulated money remains invested there. From an early age I think about accumulating resources, investments, assets, to retire in the future. I agree and disagree, on one hand I do think it’s good and very logical to teach kids the importance of money and that you need to be aware of how much you have and whether it’s reasonable to spend it on this thing or maybe save it up for something better that they may want You know, I get that, I really do But I also believe in kids being kids? I don’t believe kids should ALWAYS being doing chores or pushing themselves into a breakdown trying to keep their grades up in school just for the slim promise they may get what they want For teens? Definitely For kids? Eeehhhhh, it depends on the level of chores or expectations ur putting on them to earn their buck Small chores yes, but if you’re having ur 8 year old scrubbing all ur walls and floors over a dollar store toy then I’m pretty sure that’s just child labour and I don’t agree with that I also don’t agree with parents who make these terms just to make it easier to pawn chores onto their kids I resented my mom for the fact that it seemed like since I could walk and move I was forced to do chores that she just didn’t want to do, and lmao I wasn’t even paid or given toys for it, just chores 😭

I really love the final statement you made that says, "Desire things but know why you desire them." because it aligns with a moral of mine that one must not judge the action but the intention. Intentions can open up a window onto the person as they question why they're intentions are so. What I find most interesting is that some people have no explanation as to why they're intentions are so besides popular beliefs and that shows just how much society and societal beliefs influence everyone in some way.

Whose fault is it? The parents. 100%. My classmates and friends growing up were VERY wealthy. Lots of old money but most were not entitled and detached like what you see on tiktok. Granted, old money and new money does make a difference in family attitudes but that said, I grew up watching my friends’ parents and my own parents snip bratty behavior at the bud. Some of the wealthiest people I know personally are very kind and down to earth and aware of their privilege. It’s not hard for parents to make their kids aware of their privilege and explain to them how there is so much poverty out there. It’s not hard to not spoil kids rotten. In the same way though, many many are completely delusional. It all comes down to parenting.

This is why I hate rich kids. And I hate how some go on the internet to brag about their seemingly "perfect" life.

Makes sense about it being about the lack of parenting combined with excess money. I recently asked a friend what he’d do if he won the lottery and both our answers were donate most of it first, help family, and pay for college. No hoarding or increasing it. I at least am uncomfortable at the thought of having so much money while people suffer. The economy sucks right now.

This was a great video, it’s so rare to see people not just shitting on rich people & actually empathising with the struggles they have in their own life, although they may be different to our own. I think because culture portrays material wealth as the key to happiness we just undermine any struggles they experience because we figure ‘they must be happy because they’re so rich’, whilst ignoring that there is so much more that goes into having a joyful life.

My family is pretty wealthy, closer to the rich area. However, I’m humble. Heck, we don’t have a mansion. We have a 3 bedroom house with 2 bathrooms. (Our city always has 2 baths btw) We have pets to take care of, too. My mom and dad both own a business. I’m very lucky and I realize that. Even though I’m set with money, I still understand how hard it is to become financially stable. I’m not a part of the American river yet, but I know what happens.

i actually just saw something similar to the topic of this video! it was a girl talking about how yes, she was given a lot of stuff growing up bc her parents were successful, and that wealthy children don’t care about what other people think bc their parents loved them and gave them a lot of stuff growing up. and all i could think about was how it’s not a bad thing to come from successful parents, but that i feel like children from successful families won’t be successful themselves in adulthood bc they’ve never had to truly work for what they want. they’ve never had to work for themselves, and have never felt the satisfaction of being able to get something for yourself from your own success. they’ve been handed everything they could ever want in life, and now going into adulthood they don’t know how to function without mom or dad holding their hands the entire way through life, even as an adult.

I'm 20 years old and so far I consider having more than 200 dollars a huge amount of money, how spoiled these kids are to think that a thousand dollars are nothing? How I wish I had a life like this but to let my parents and all of my family rest, buy things we need, pay off debts and fulfill their wishes! I hope that the people in the video at some point open their eyes and realize that the money isn't even theirs... but I know that's not going to happen because they're hollow people and until they're directly affected they're not going to learn the value of money.
