You are awesome Josh. The thing that I like the most is that you show the Radiomaster or any other openTX/EdgeTX and you talk about airplanes too. 99.99% of the channels that talk about these radios, ONLY talk about multi rotor like, theses radios were made just for them. Right now as I write, I am installing a Radiomater TX16S on a 35% size airplane, using 2 Graupner receivers and a 120cc gas motor. So thank you, airplane guys do appreciate your effort to mention us

Ok, so I somehow missed this video when it came out. Thanks so much JB for referring me to this. I literally just ran this calibration today and noticed the number 1 at the bottom, I pressed the number 1 and I think one other button to see if it did anything, it did not, so I assumed it was for something else and ended the calibration. After watching this video I tried again and realized that you have to press all the numbers at least once before it starts working right. Wow can't believe I missed that!

My Taranis has an actual 6 position knob, and yes that has to be calibrated too. I do like the buttons that let you go directly from 1 to 6 without going through all the other positions and activating whatever function is under there.

You are correct sir, I didn't see the 6 position (Radiomaster) as a pot, but more as just buttons similar to all the menu buttons or the trim buttons that you don't calibrate. Knowledge is POWER! GI JOOEEEEEEE

So I just bought a Radiomaster TX16S a few days ago. Was excited to try it out with liftoff and tried to calibrate and do rates and still was getting weird movements and even without touching the controller the quad inside the sim was accelerating of all a sudden and lifting itself from one of the sides. With this video I just fixed all those problems, now I even have better control over the quad. Thanks!!!

I've got a Tango 2 and did already know the correct calibration procedure, but only because I researched into why it was being such a pain in the ass to calibrate not long after owning it. I had a standard Taranis QX7 before the Tango 2 and that was never an issue to calibrate. I'm actually considering calibrating my Tango 2 for the 20th time after watching this video lol. I always add a 5% deadzone to all sticks in KISS and BF just incase. Seems to help stop jitter

I could not for the life of me get the Tango 2 stick inputs to register in Betaflight. I did not realize that I had to calibrate the sticks first in order to get the signal to the TX, then to the RX. I knew about the 6-position buttons... I also learned about being gentle about the endpoints of the sticks early on. Back with my early X9d I even went into Companion and tweaked the endpoint values to guarantee a resting -100 to +100 range on the throttle and carried that practice through my QX7 and TX16s. No big deal, but then I am an inveterate fiddler and tend to know more about my equipment than most do. Sorry Bardwell, but I didn't learn anything new today, even though this is a valuable video. :D

Great info, I didn't know about the 6 pos switch calibration but discovered about the "pushing hard the sticks" issue during calibration when I replaced the spring of my hall sensor gimbal (TX16S). I actually notice it during the following flight as plane's rolling rate felt significantly reduced. I calibrated on the field which improved but noticed for the first time that moving the sticks around the 4 edges would result in not reaching 100% input across the edges (i.e -100% down left/ -92% down center/ -98% down right). Now, for calibration, I very gently move the sticks up/down, left/right and double check on the monitor to make sure I'm reaching full inputs through the entire range.

Yes, not pushing the sticks hard during calibration was what I found I had to do with my old Turnigy TGY-i10 TX's, because you want to apply less pressure during calibration than when you're actually using the TX to fly. I carried that gentle-stick-push-during-calibration method to my T16 and all is good.

There was one thing missing in the video is to check your mode setting if set to mode 2 on a mode 1 setup you will still see a throttle warning as the stick will be centred, something you should check after performing a software update, had the mode switch on an update on Tango 2 and X9d
@Plankmeister2 жыл бұрын
THANKYOU! I just updated the firmware on my Tango2 and it was like the gimbals swapped, the throttle on the right. I'm a n00b and didn't know about modes, so I'm guessing the update set it to mode 2.

Funny thing.... The moment you said there was 1 control most people don't know needs calibration too, I KNEW you meant the 6-pos. Not that I know that much about the radio or something... Never even toughed one like that in my life... but I happen to have watched the video on how to swap gimbals to get those nice all metal CNC machined ones in :p Unfortunately, the most modern radio I have is a " modelcraft" MP-26-DT. Got it for free because the previous owner wanted to throw it out, and I needed an old RC controller to convert to USB for flight sims XD The BEST controller I own is a groupner JR... at 40MHz... An oldie, but it works perfectly... And since I don't have anything to control to begin with...... XD
