The judge in the Johnny Depp and Amber Heard defamation trial was hearing motions during the lunch break when she poked a little fun at Depp's attorney. An attorney representing TMZ was attempting to keep a former employee from testifying about a leak that Heard would be filing a restraining order against Depp. During arguments Depp's attorney made a comment about TMZ's reputation, which the TMZ attorney referred to as snarky. Later Depp's attorney apologized for the comment and the judge waved it off, saying "you're just a snarky guy," which lead the court to erupt in laughter.

yeah she is in a pickle with this one, she cant open proceedings against TMZ for her being implied as the source or it will all come out in writing that she was the source and lied in court, this limits the damages that TMZ can claim against former employee who most likely broke some sort of contract divulging this stuff. implicates Amber and offers some protection to the witness.

Yes, this is why he is allowed to testify, however, TMZ also has the right to object on the basis he is revealing company information and practice. TMZ don't stand to gain anything from this court case so of course they will object to anything regarding their involvement, good or bad doesn't matter.
@jayesimond9301
@jayesimond9301 Жыл бұрын
@@superpantman That’s a TMZ problem, they barked @ the wrong tree. If they didn’t want their former employee to testify about info he acquired while working for them, they should have leaned on him by enforcing the NDA he likely had to sign as a requirement for employment with TMZ. This guy knows he’s going to face some legal repercussions on that end. No doubt this witness thought of doing the right thing, and TMZ’s attorney did his job best he could for his client tho it was the wrong legal venue.
@superpantman

@@jayesimond9301 They probably can force action on him from an NDA in his contract. I wouldn't be able to start talking about former workplaces in court and their practice even if it was relevant to the case. Nothing special. The judge took note and explained in which grounds she would allow the witness to testify. You think all these lawyers are smartasses but they are not. This TMZ lawer asked if he could object and judge said because he doesn't represent any of the parties he could not object during the testimony but tmz can follow up in another case (like suing the employee). Today Camille asked several times if the jury could access the footage that has been streaming online. The judge was like "errr jury has access to EVIDENCE only: photos, texts and videos" not testimonies. She was going on and on like a teacher's pet asking for favors.

TMZ is not fighting for it's right to publish at all. They are fighting to keep their source(s) anonymous versus having them named, discovered, or otherwise admitted as a matter of evidence before the court and therefore on the public record. Basically they don't want it to be revealed that Amber was the source... because that's the absolute SLEAZIEST sort of source they could have (the activating party) for their release of this kind of information (seeking an RTO).

They’re consular recommended recording arguments since obviously they kept agreeing on things that occurred and they wanted to work on their relationship but the only way to do that would be if they could agree on what happened. Honestly thank god they did to because given how courts treat male victims of DV this case wouldn’t even be happening if Depp hadn’t gotten the audio of heard outright admitting she hit him.

The ladies were the stars of this court drama for all the right AND all the wrong reasons. Judge Penny and Queen Camille have demonstrated intelligence, poise, class and kindness. While Elaine basically tanked her own career and embarrassing herself. I would feel empathy for her if she wasn't representing the most vile woman I've ever seen outside of a psychological thriller like the movie Gone Girl. That brings us to Amber. It's bad enough what she put Johnny Depp through but my loathing I have for her is on behalf of women who have been abused, murdered or disfigured by their life partner. She has basically spit in the faces of real victims and survivors. The same way she stole her former assistant's very personal story of her sexual assault and actually stole that woman's story and used it as if it happened to her. Disgusting. I think she has Munchausen's.

Hope it wasn't a case of "We don't get paid until you do" That's not going to work out too well.) Money grabbers more often then not lose at trial.
