Not just with weight problems, Cardiac, Diabetes, etc. This is why Dr Now will advise Psychotherapy. Their patients go deeper. Thank you again for your comment.

It's a trauma reaction...feeling like they are being attacked, they go into fight or flight mode. These people need to see a psychologist. Alot of these people have deep trauma. Think about it, if a person is raised in a healthy environment with loving parents they generally don't turn out like this. Most of these patients come from terrible circumstances, child abuse, rape, neglect etc and are sometimes so unwilling to do the work because in order to do the work they need to walk through the fire first, meaning they have to do inner child work, which for many is a painful experience. Alot of them are fat to protect themselves.

Past time I was hospitalized I was vomiting blood, had a heart rate of 130, and the shakes I knew I was an alcoholic in withdrawl and didn't want to admit to paramedics. Finally an ER doctor plus my husband got me to reveal the truth by being nice and trying to find something to help me. I was an alcoholic but in denial, and also depressed. Mostly embarrassed. I was worried if I admitted I consumed a lot of vodka every day the medical staff would shun me and judge me. Finally I told the truth and they were so nice and gracious. They gave me meds to ease the shakes and multiple sources for therapy and addiction recovery. Telling the truth is hard sometimes when you know you are actively harming yourself. Also keeping up public image. It took me a lot of guts and a death scare to admit I was an alcoholic.

As a gastric bypass surgery success story, these people aren't ready to change their eating lifestyles. Until they are they will never commit to the work you have to put into all of this. This is not a magic pill. Even all the current weight loss drugs out there only work if you change you eating lifestyle. You can't stay on those meds for the rest of your lives. If you don't change, you'll gain your weight back. Ashley is trying to become a reality star. Go back on Catfish, third times a charm. In order to lose weight you have to change your eating lifestyle. This show is not your golden ticket.

There's a lot involved with the gastric bypass surgery process. It is no different from any other way you want to lose weight, you still have to eat healthier and eat smaller portions. Weight loss surgery is not a quick fix and if you don't have any real discipline with your eating habits, it's not going to work, period!

Two things I don’t understand. One, why doesn’t he require every patient to track their food intake in some sort of log, and two, why seeing a therapist from the very start of the program is not a requirement? He recommends therapy after a while for some, but most bariatric programs require it from the get go.

i used to act like Ashley. i had the biggest mouth said what i wanted didn’t care whose feelings got hurt and i justified it as standing up for myself. it’s not it’s a defense mechanism from emotional abuse. i hope she goes to therapy .someone having to tell you “don’t say it” isn’t a flex it doesn’t make you a bad girl. it means you have so self control.
