Me except a teen! The girls my age are posting themselves with an extreme push to their breast and it’s extremely concerning…😭 keep in mind I’m in middle school..😶 And its such a norm and i feel so bad they’ve been pressured into showing off their butt in leggings, forcing the recoil of their chest and butt is so sad to see. And its so obvious their doing it for validation and to be seen by the boys in our school😭 Anyways, im the total opposite from that. Im not loud, clothes wise and voice wise, or personality. Im not a softie or aesthetic preppy but i just wanna be cute and were shorts and leggings, and my favourite long sleeve shirts (its kind of “tight” to the point it shows ur figure). I just wanna enjoy short nails, “revealing” clothes, makeup without being bashed or sexualized. I literally have to wear long sweaters and a jacket that covers my bottom cause literally all these girls and boys in my school say to girls or boys with a butt is gyat.😐 Ive heard it to many times, my walk is altered to stiff😭.

You may obtain some social success but at the end of the day you have to deal with the repercussions of conforming to these pressures and standards. Being accepted is not worth by superficial standards and people. Being yourself will get you so much farther than trying to be what everyone around you wants you to be especially your peers. This reminds me of this one singer who became an overnight sensation at 19 for singing an incredibly suggestive song. She later admitted that she had had no idea about the sexual connotations as she was so young and inexperienced and only did what she was told. She became depressed and after a long break, essentially restarted her career as an indie artist and totally disengaged from the sexy image she had been signed early in her career... I don't know, I think this kind of success is not really worth it, when you're not even yourself but just doing what you're told...how long can you maintain that? Yes, this is where I was at some point. I am an avid reader, I read everything from romance and paranormal fiction, to murder mystery and philosophy. There was a time where I would only read and find myself drawn to books with smut. It really was the only thing that attracted me which was such a pity. I then realized what was happening to me so I stopped looking for adult books altogether and got out of romance genres for a while. I started reading more war fiction and murder-mystery books and I’m GLAD I did because the books that I found and read were so heartbreakingly good. I wasn’t reading about two people tangling themselves into each other and dragging myself down a hole of addiction and empty pleasure, I was reading about love, loss, and life… I was reding about healing, pain, and friendship. Not everything needs to be about s*x… The books that I read and absolutely loved were The Book Thief by Markus Zusak, The Boy in Striped Pajamas by John Boyne, The Man Who Didn’t Call by Rosie Walsh, The Murder of Roger Ackroyd by Agatha Christie, The Kite Runner by Khalid Hosseini, and The Silver Sword by Ian Serrailer. The reality is that s*x, lust, and po*nography is everywhere. They’re just present in different ways and representations. It’s really disgusting how everywhere a person looks or goes online or even in real life, there’s always some type or semblance of adultery and s*xual BS trapping them. One of the hardest lessons to learn, especially if you grew up without pretty privilege, is that being sexually desired by a lot of men is not the prize you think it is. And I wish more women of influence would tell that too young girls. Because some men will literally dog walk you (as shown) because that’s exactly what they think of women, whether they sexualize themselves or not. It’s been advertised as liberty and freedom but the truth is, it is still objectification and exploitation. The man lusting over you doesn’t care that you chose to show him your hooha, instead of him choosing to look at it without your permission. He doesn’t care. He was going to look and think all of his thoughts anyway. And it’s incredibly sad. Sad that it’s been centuries of women treated like this.

The situation is worsening, and not just in America but all over the world. People believe that this is a form of empowerment, but it profoundly affects women everywhere, reducing them to objects. I recall a memory of being on a bus and overhearing a conversation among high school girls who appeared to be about 13-14 years old. They were discussing their "body count," and it was incredibly disheartening.

Let’s talk about it. I’m 14 and a Caribbean girl and I have noticed a trend. African and Caribbean culture has been demonized and sexualized as it does not fit the norm of OUR culture (which is crazy because it’s not even ours). Tyla does Bacardi a south African dance style which, yes, involves gyration, but who made that sexual? Water was a sexual song but she’s been doing this since her ballad songs like to last and it is a crazy notion that she wasn’t big just because Americans didn’t hear about her. She got big for being racially ambiguous and still having enough of that “exotic” appeal (yes people have called her such). I just think it’s crazy how we continue to hypersexualize those who aren’t even overly sexual and how we do such to our culture. I honestly think it’s a response to assimilation.
@thepovdweller7 ай бұрын
As an african girl, we have dances where we gyrate our hips to the rythm of drums. We do it since childhood as it is not sexual at all. I hate when westerners sexualize my culture. We are just having fun and tbh having a strong waistline is praised where I'm from.
@LovelyLittleLillies7 ай бұрын
Oh please, darling. I saw a video of how explicit dancing was at clubs in the Caribbean countries (outright mimicking inter course). What do white people have to do with that? Black people brought that explicitness to the West - who else introduced dances like whining and twerking? It was not a white man's creation. and I doubt white people have as much influence on a fully Black country like the Caribbean. Y'all keep blaming outsiders for your own people chosing to present themselves in an explicit, negative manner. Go look at African countries, many dress modestly and favour a certain discipline.

Taylor Swift performs predominantly in glittery one pieces her music may not be sexualized but she still adheres to the standard that has been set for women. And the sexualization of black women is historically based starting with the dehumanization of slaves that evolved into a dehumanizing fetish that allows for the hyper sexualization of black people in general. Entertainers do their best to use these harsh aspects of our society to cope with capitalism and get a chance to escape poverty(with their lived ones), experience a lavish lifestyle and or build generational wealth. We all have to navigate capitalism and I am sure most of us can agree its not the easiest puzzle in the box. Thats not to excuse anyones behavior but this is not a black and white situation there is a lot of grey to be considered. Thank you NKs Wrld for creating a space for this conversation.

There are people with terrible circumstances that make it with out of poverty without selling themselves. This is like saying youd be an escort for 2k a "date" instead of working at Walmart. What bill is soooo urgent that you need 2k immedietly. You may want to be rich now but you can take different steps and be patient. Some people sadly put think they have the responsibility of getting their siblings and mom out the hood but they're wrong. The mom had her chance. Also, if she's not advising you against practically showing your whole rectum on stage...she is not your mother. She a a bum and belongs in poverty. As for siblings, no 12 year old needs Prada. Work and save and have a good mindset and morals and find your purpose. No one was born to be a crackhead dying in a bathtub or part prostitute full time delusional music artist. These celebrities get to a point and realize that Hollywood is pure evil and they have the choice to study something or invest I real estate or anything where you're not selling depravity. Still, they chose the rode constantly chosen.

I took a class on how bodies have been viewed throughout American history and it was eye-opening. We went from a society where they had literal zoos displaying black people so people could judge how different their appearance was, to a society entirely striving to achieve that exact body shape, no matter the cost. We went from ankles being scandalous to displaying everything being normal or expected. It’s really baffling how much things have changed even over the last decade or two.

Shes a great dancer and performer but when i watched the video for greedy, if just felt…off. The dance was unnecessarily sexual and overt and little try hard. Like it didnt…need to be?

I have always liked Tate's music and still do, but I noticed this as well and found it sad and got thrown off by it. Like her music is catchy and could blow up on its own, she didnt need to sexualize her image imo

love this !! i remember someone saying that black women in the limelight are more sensual/sexual so they can be viewed as 'feminine' so we do everything in our power to be viewed as that :/
@sandycheeks15807 ай бұрын
😂Who said that! We are women & that fact can’t be denied. 😂 The whole world knows the black woman birthed & mothered humanity. 😂 Brainwashed haters are out here working hard to make you believe you’re less than others because of color.

This is such a smart take. It's like black women have to compensate for being "less feminine."

It is sad that our value is based on how sexy we are now instead of how smart or good of a person we are. I want cute and normal looking to be beautiful, not sexy to be beautiful

I hate oversexualisation… I mean I feel like not only the pop industry is getting sexualised, but the kpop industry as well for example LE SSERAFIM (Smart. They have a minor doing the smart dance (Eunchae)) or NewJeans…

Maybe it’s just me coming from a different culture but what exactly is sexual about the dance and also hasn’t the K-pop world been sexualized from like the early 2000s
@txr4lovesu7 ай бұрын
@@gabriellehughes1788 Idk if the kpop world has been sexualised since the 2000s, because I just came a kpop fan 2022. I think the sexual think about LE SSERAFIM’s smart is their choreography, not just in Smart, but in Perfect Night aswell. In both choreographies they are twerking and that’s controversial, because they have a minor (Eunchae), and sexualising (in my opinion)
@gabriellehughes17887 ай бұрын
@@txr4lovesu I understand the minor part however when comes to K-pop and dancing overrall in my opinion they are not doing in a sexual manner or form I think it’s more of them doing it as trendy thing like following the water dance which I also think is not sexual it’s more about how ppl look at them I feel like it’s very easy for Americans cause how they look at twerking however personally it’s not even like traditional twerking cause they’re not bend over with their hands on their knees they literally just moving their hips in a circle nothing sexual about it

I think these days a lot of ppl tend to look at things in a sexual way because how sexual our media has been these past few years however that has now translated into ppl thinking the most innocent have sexual meanings or is sexual

Can we also talk about how almost every tv show has sex scenes? Most of them are unnecessary and add nothing to the plot. As much as I love Issa I had to stop watching insecure because every 5 secs somebody’s ass crack is on screen.

The hypersexualization of society for money and resources reminds me of ancient societies before they collapse. The art and culture usually becomes hypersexual before war and violence ultimately tears them apart.
@fire.smok37 ай бұрын
Studying history is crazy because you can see consistent patterns and similar situations even thousands of years ago in completely different societies. Shows basic human nature is pretty universal. And now the question arises, are we heading to an era of ultra violence, war, famine, or collapse? Art/culture aside, the state of international politics and economy indicates it's certainly not impossible

Ironically, I was missing Ella Mai the other day. I wonder if her being less visible as of late stems from a refusal to become more sexual in her appearance or just the standard cycle of the music industry.

My ex bf and I talked about this one time. He told me that when he was younger, he'd think that "less is more", meaning that the less you wear, the more skin you show, the better. Now, being in his 30s, his opinion has changed. He now thinks that the less you show, the more attractive you are. You can look great even though you're dressed modestly. Long, flowing skirts is now something that he loves, for instance, compared to mini ones. He's no longer into that at all and thinks that being se*y is reserved for bedroom activities. I used to be the same actually. In my 20s I used to dress provocatively because I wanted men to find me attractive. Now, being over 30, I dress more modestly and I think I'm way more attractive now than I was back then.

This is something thats been a thing forever tbh, and not just in this way. Not saying ppl are expected to be celibate or something or cover themselves head to toe but its like the argument" if everyone walked around naked all day thered be nothing sepcial or private about our bodies" and i think its a psychological thing to a degree not a sexual thing. Like if you like a restaurant or love a dish it might be super special to you but if you get a job there and all you cook and eat and all everyone you see eats is that dish it will lose it magic to you. And less is more goes for most things. Thing is we live in a time where everyone just wants more and thinis more is more and more is never enough lol
