Alentejo is the best part of Portugal imo, and no tourists ever go there. It's probably the last part of the country that's fully authentically Portuguese. Algarve got paved over with holiday apartment complexes and endless golf courses.

@@12354rony What I mean is that the Algarve is packed with ugly towerblock housing that's empty six months of the year to accommodate vast numbers of holidaymakers and second-home owners from abroad. Traditional housing, some of which has been there since 1755, is bought out and turned into renovated AirBnBs by wealthy foreigners. In Alentejo it's still authentically Portuguese. It's an absolutely beautiful region that's totally overlooked by holidaymakers and developers because it has a coast that isn't well suited to recreational beaches and a large, rural interior. I was sadly too young to really experience the Algarve as it was before it was paved over but the polaroid photos and the vivid descriptions I've been told my whole life really rung true to me when I went to Alentejo.

Ludi, Portuguese doesn't have the Spanish j/g(e/i), it uses the English j/g(e/i) and when the word ends in -es, it's more like ending in -sh or -j (if you're from the interior) Anyway, nice video

As France I took a slice out of Qing just to pump my plantation stuff. It's absurd. 3 million peasants to start with and the state had 900+ free agri slots. Had to start with 30 railways to preemptively get ready for the massive output. Got peasantry down to 0 and the state GDP was over 100M. To fight Qing I took north Vietnam first as my launching board.

It's AlenteJO. Like in G.I.JOE It's only in spanish that the "J" sounds as "R" (or I guess it's "H" in english, like in "home"), not in portuguese. In portuguese, the J sounds like J itself, like in "Space JAM"
