@@LukeStation Wacky Workbench is a pain in the butt no doubt about it but a pro tip for that stage is that if you get all the Time Stones you wont need to look for the Batnik Machine and you can just go straight to the Goal Post and the trick to beating said stage quick is to dont take the upper route.

I went through this exact character arc when I bought Origins and played Sonic 3 again, I played the game with the mindset of exploring & getting the emeralds instead of blasting threw it like in Sonic 2, to the point where I personally think S3&K is MILES better than S2 , so stumbling across this video after the fact was quite a shocker for me. Sonic 3 haters turning it around bc of Origins are endlessly based

All of the classic sonic levels was about exploration. Green Hill and Emerald Hill are good examples having many branching paths and secrets. I can see why you see it more obvious for Sonic 3 because Sega just cranks it up to 11

Kid the more you play Sonic 3 & Knuckles the more you will learn why many of us consider it the best classic Sonic game. Even the later stages are filled to the brim with secrets. Flying Battery has a ton of alternate paths but they are more obscure and you might need to go out of your way to find them. Dont get me wrong I love Sonic 2 and was my first Sonic game I played back in the early 90s when we got the Model 2 Genesis with Sonic 2 as the pack in but Sonic 3 is such a great game in its own way. Sonic 2 is more about going fast while Sonic 3 is more about exploration.

Sonic 3 (& Knuckles) becomes less about exploration the more you play it. Once you know the layouts of each stage, it becomes just as fast as (if not faster than) Sonic 2.

I think Mania really hits a good spot of having multiple explorable paths like 3 while keeping the movement fast like 2 Wait until he learns CD can be sped through and has even more exploration than 3 -Edit: wow, you only have 1k subs? Hope that number goes way up-

0:32 That's actually how I've always played these games. You see, when I was a kid I kinda sucked at these games a lot. Seeing the Game Over screen was a regular occurrence and I didn't really get far in to the game, instead playing the early levels over and over again. So, I would try to make the most out of each level by mainly exploring the heck out of them.

Sonic Orgins is amazing, it somehow makes old levels that I hated seem so much more alive to me, its strange. now lets just wait for the next 3D sonic game to ruin the sonic brand again!

I got sonic classic collection on ds 2 months ago and sonic 3&k is only game I play in the collection but I begin a new save everytime I finish mushroom hill because sonic & knuckles is my least favourite classic sonic game and I hate it
