He has a 30 point lead so the onus is on him to play away from the object ball if he thinks it's too boring.. plus if there's too much tippy tapping then the referee can decide to re-rack and Selby would lose his points advantage and they would have to start the frame all over again. Cheeky git! He's the reason why it's boring. Allen probably said something like "Do something about it then! You have more to lose than I do"..

@J R Hartley Don't get me wrong, i love the sport and play at my local club every weekend, but did you see the session this afternoon, he had a medium difficulty shot to nothing red and chose a safety shot instead, where as you watch Si Junhui taking on every single chance, brilliant to watch. Not hour long frames EVERY frame

@Brmc Primarily his job is to win matches, not to entertain. Also, if you only like players that go for every shot and if you don't appreciate the beauty of great safety play, then i am not sure if the sport is for you. I personally appreciate the different styles in snooker(some play more offensive others more tactical). It makes the sport diverse and entertaining.

@@spongegidar6624 I'm absolutely on your side. Don't understand the exaggerated hate Mark Selby is receiving. But there is one aspect that should really be changed. The number of frames played after the quarter finals. It has to be reduced. I'm just thinking about the schedule because tactical battles are as essential as going for the pot. It's not like Selby did not play already 100 centuries in the Crucible Theatre, he can pot/build the break in a considerable tempo, too. But being a tactical master should not lead to weaken other players with the time/rest factor, or causing problems to the schedule in general, in terms of stalling the sessions, keeping other players inactive for hours backstage. If said tactician wins the final 7 hour evening session he only weakened himself but if the offensive player wins (which is also not a fault going for the pots), he might pay for it in the next round after getting to bed at 4 am and starting the next match at 12:15 pm, for example.

​@Brmc - Selby could play quickly at the highest level if he wanted to... he's proven this in English 8-ball tournaments. The problem is he doesn't have to play quickly because there's no clock in Snooker. It reminds me of guys like Fedor Gorst and Eklent Kaci in pool... those guys take FOREVER when there's there's no clock, but they do just fine and win big matches on TV tables with the shotclock. If snooker wants to be more exciting, implement the shotclock on the TV tables.
