Voices age and deepen and grow with life experience. Paul Weller, who never had a particularly smooth voice, doesn't sound so different but Boy George, who sounded like Smokey Robinson as a younger man, has developed a wonderfully soulful timbre.

It's depressing o know that one of my most cherished songs of the past thirty years has been treated with so little regard by its original singer who has not wanted to sing the song since 1985.
