Wow that's sooo cool to have a famous person in the family! I wouldn't deny it either. I admire him, Dorothy Dandridge and Cab Calloway...but imagine had you live in that era! But nowadays there's still some ignorant comments and a person should be able to accept all of who they are, whether they grew up in black community or not...

Same here! And people need to learn truth. All people are mixed. Ibo and Zulu are not the same, Irish and German are not the same, Spanish and Arab not the same, etc. If you have more than one ethnic group then you are mixed and that’s the worldwide history! I am light skin like my mom but my dad is brown! And here’s the kicker...her eyes are black while his are blue! I have hazel eyes which is something altogether different and get dark fast and easy never burning! I have conditions that are “black” and my medical records say black or multi. However, most think I’m a light skin Latina or Arab, a few think I’m Italian. I was told to pass and refuse to! I’ve been called for 40+ years the white “n...” and my father the blue eyed “n...” all of which has been around even before the USA slavery. It’s time to get right people.

I had the same experience. People thought that I was mixed because of my hair texture
@alf34885 жыл бұрын
I had a lot of people ask me if I was mixed. And i’m like no. My mom is a Haitian latino and Barbadian, but we can’t speak haitian or bajan creole. But I’m learning them slowly. And my dad is 100% black. A lot of people thought my father was white or light skinned. But he is really dark-skinned. And people look at me like I’m retarded. Like “really? I thought your dad was lightskin/ white?”

I felt this 1. I'm black & so are my parents. I have 2 brownskin parents with dark hair & eyes. But I'm light, hazel eyes, blonde hair

My aunt and her oldest daughter goes through that a lot. My grandfather was very light with two brown/darkish skinned parents. He had Grey eyes and curly hair. My aunt is liiiight with light brown hair. Her oldest child has loose curly hair like a typical mixed child would and a smaller nose like her mother.
