People seem to have misunderstood Waltz's motive. He wanted to save his daughter however in turning on the power to keep her alive, it activated a GRE failsafe protocol to bomb the city. The city being bombed was simply due to a failsafe not an exact part of his plan.

Dynamic score is something that even NFS Most Wanted did back in 2005 during police chases and I would love to have such features in more upcoming games. It just makes games feel less repetetive doing the same gameplay loops and kinda seems like the games is responsing to your decisions.

If i had a choice to save someone i did witch actually felt very good but i know in a zombie utopia i would never do. Actually that whole "messing with you by having volatiles jump on the table your under" is actually more your own doing. The developers added amazing attention to detail and one of them is that enemies can see your flashlight when it's on. So when your hiding under that table with the flashlight on the volatiles can see it but don't see you so they go towards the light and on top of the table. Also whoever made that review about the choices should be fired. I did the same choices as you but gave the water tower to the peacekeepers and I ended up siding with them and never blew up the windmill

I understand and agree with a lot of the criticisms of the story, but saying that your choices just don't matter at all is very untrue. Your choices dont' affect the main story questline, aside from minor differences in the end cutscene but they affect the world around you DRASTICALLY. The events of the peacekeepers vs survivers plays out significantly differently depending on what your choices are. When comparing and contrasting my playthrough a friends, I ended up asking about certain things, namely that windmill mission, where you blow up the peacekeeper windmill and drive them out of old town. I thought that was a mandatory mission because of how cinematic and seamless it was, at least for my playthrough, but no, he didn't even play it at all, and was confused when I brought it up. People live and die by your actions. What happens to lawan, frank, hakon, etc is all affected by you. Each of them could end up dead depending on your actions, or they could live. Entire sections of the map can be destroyed or uncovered depending on your actions, as well. The devs weren't lying about player choice mattering, players just seem to have a very narrow idea on what that means. You may be the protagonist, but the world of the game doesn't revolve entirely around you. The change is very clearly observed when you compare events, characters, and even the world, with others who have played. Going into a second playthrough and choosing different options will have you play different events, the characters you get to know better, and the ones who die will change. You'll still go through many of the same story-beats, but the context isn't always the same. I think they did the choices very well, it was mainly the story itself that I personally have a problem with. Specifically, with aiden's sister and the main antagonist.

1:43 It's interesting that people are split on the topic of whether DL2 "improves" on the first game or not. Your friends say it's an improvement, while people I know think it's a downgrade in terms of base gameplay mechanics, and some even get motion sickness from camera movement. I agree with the latter but I can't explain why exactly, the first game just feels better to move around and bash the zombies in.

this review really makes sense coming from someone who didnt play the first game. while its true most everything feels much more solid and pretty, the biggest problem is how dumbed down the combat actually became. not saying that there was a huge amount of depth in the first game, but every walking enemy was a ragdoll already without needing to be dropkicked. they would trip over bodies or curbs, break their legs and crawl and as long as you didnt kill the zombie you could mess them up anyway youd think. weapon mod variety is also wayyyyyyy down. @@VainSick ding dong, wrong. I played the first one to near 100% completion about 4-5 years ago when they released the ultimate following edition (something like that). There’s is undoubtedly absolutely un warranted hate towards the second game for no other reason than the shit emotion “nostalgia”. Here is what DL2 did better: story and character, while DL2 isn’t amazing it was miles better than the first games more bland story. I actually remember the characters from the second game. Couldn’t tell you the characters in the first other than rais and crane. While DL2 story wasn’t amazing it was better. Gameplay. The weapons feel is amazing, in the first game any 2 handed weapon felt like poo. In this game heavy weapons make enemies fucking fly and sharp weapons slice them beautifully, but it doesn’t cut every bloody time like in the first game so each time you end up cutting it’s still satisfying cause I don’t see it every time. Also parry and blocking works and human enemies are challenging fun and possible encounters, unlike the first game where you basically needed a gun to kill any human. And parkour is just more fluid, sprint is unlimited and you rarely climb more than your stamina so your always on the move but when your stamina runs out while climbing and you slip you get scared and it’s a really nice edition to fall if your not careful, grapple is better as it’s no longer a short ranged teleport get out of jail free card. The first one almost removed the need for parkour the second games just adds to it as its anither tool to use. The paragliding is great, it can’t be used willy nilly but if yiu are bired of running anouther 10 miles then you climb up or bind a vent and boom chill flying. Now world. From a gameplay point of view this is undoubtedly better, with more interactive things, more verticality better more fluid items to work off, running through building as a short cut it has a better parkour feel. The look of the map is personal preference but I definitely prefer this one. It’s harsh diversity between barren streets and lush roof is really appealing and something we haven’t seen before. The open world activities: in DL1 you had safe zones, quarantine zones and challenges. Safe zones ended up being borderline tedious, it was in this weird grey area where they were all different to be so it felt like a new thing but the same activity that I then I had find my way around to get that last zombie. They were fine but just got to a meh point. In DL2 they fix that you know it’s going to be the same sort of puzzle every time but it’s still a different enough puzzle that I feel like I accomplished this climb up the windmill without the tedious close gates kill zombies thing. DL2 also has more to do (now for some this is a hit or miss) but in this case it really works. Is it anything brand new… no we’ve all seen this stuff in far cry. But it’s all done well and all integrated together. There’s only a handful of bandit camps but each one takes place in an entirely different style of building that each one feel unique. The metro stations all provide a decent challenge with a completely different layout and guard zombies that I’m constantly on my toes trying not to wake any, the quarantine zones you could argue are worse than DL1 and I’m inclined to agree however, reason and purpose. In DL1 they didn’t have any in DL2 they do, I also just prefer them. In this game they are really weird to explore cause each one is slightly different but they all have the same roots of a lab infested. They have a kind of morbid curiosity behind them with there cyan colours and heavily infested status and flowing chemicals that I was always curious on how this was happening and especially to the lab area, I felt like I was on my own path trying to clear and figure out these quarantine zones. And the world with there forsaken stores and dark zones are really nice areas to explore with lots of great loot. Weapons, they removed guns I’m happy they were so broken in the first game. Enemies. In this game there is just more variety of enemies. They tie together the zombies and the harran virus mutations into a nice little package, most advanced enemies have the volatile jaw and it ties in the lore nicely. But the variety, banshees, revenants, chargers all of these are just cool editions. And the humans while nothing special has enough gameplay variety to change the way I play depending on who I see. I also believe the night time is better. No not in terms of fear that goes to DL1, in terms of basically everything else, now neither game is perfect in night and the best of both worlds would be ideal but DL2 is better, the maps harsh diversity of ground and roofs is just amplified and In turn I calm down my wacky parkour attempts cause I am scared of falling, the night also gives an amazing reason to explore cause all the building are clear and enemies that would clap you and in turn I’m CHOOSING to go out at night and that’s the key point here, choosing. In DL1 they forced you into the night 2-3 times, in total I went out at night maybe 4-5 times cause I don’t care to be gang banged by 30 volatiles. In DL2 it forces you maybe 2 times, but in total I’ve been out about 50% of the time playing. To clear infected areas and gather loot, to go and hunt bolsters, demolishes and so on, to kill revenants I chose to go out because I saw the value of the night and besides the bolter the first game didn’t have that in any noticeable way besides more xp. But also a level 4 chase is terrifying if they make it easier to get chased then my next point would be invalid Now here is what DL1 did better. Fear, now in the first game It was terrifying to be out at night because there is so many volatiles and that fear was undoubtedly better in the first game. Just in how easy they could find you and keep up with you. Fighting interactions with the environment: in DL1 when you interact with zombies and the world it is better, they trip stick to spikes it is just more connective and DL2 doesn’t have that and I hope they change it, cause the ragdoll effect is almost missing in DL2 and zombie don’t interact with the environment as much as I’d like or expect so there is this tiny bit of “oh I’m in a game” that the first one didn’t have as much because the interactions the zombies had was just amazing. Quarantine zone variety: not in DL1 no quarantine zone is that which made each one very “ohhhh what’s this one gonna be” which was great, but DL2 just split them and made them something you could stumble upon, like forsaken stores replace the turtle super store, chemical dark zones replace the chemical storage quarantine zones. There’s a random parking lot you can find and every building in DL2 can be explored so it either do you like growing to a marker and knowing you’ll get something different or no maker and have it be random of what you’ll find. And I think that’s it. That’s is everything I remember about both games and there key differences. See I did play the first game and it is great, but DL2 is just… more and does allot of things better than the first game, perfect… no neither game is, to say so is wrong, but it does the more important things better. And just like the first game if we ask they’ll give and it’ll be constantly improved over time to become as polished as the first game became. And I recently had a friend play both games for the first time back to back this last month and to them personally with no interjection or long lost love of the first game, they loved the first game but found the second one more approachable and a tad more fun with more tools.

Actually… there are times where helping Aitor does affect your story… In order to get the best/most loved ending by Some of the community, you are required to help Aitor. there is a side mission where Aitor is on a stretcher and you need to get herbs to heal him. If you don’t heal him/kill him by not giving him the right herbs, the “witch” or the herbist healer of the game on a Island is killed out of suspicion of poisoning Aitor. If she dies, Frank will always die in the endgame. If you save Aitor, the herbist healer’s life is spared, and she will be able to heal Frank, keeping him alive in the end game. Helping Aitor does actually play a role in the story. I just don’t like how there were other parts that were missed out. Like you can side with survivors and then Aitor would want you killed. Then when you turn and kill all the renegades in the tunnel. He sees that you turned for a bit, and knows what you are becoming. It would have been cool to implement a part where if you kill Aitor, your secret of you turning temporarily is safe(since no one else knows at the time) or if you save Aitor, he could possible warn the Peacekeepers later game about what you did and how you are half turned. If you ask me, he did get major roles, but his potential of a multi-complex character not being fufilled kinda bothered me. I loved his dynamic. Still do, but it could have been executed at better

6:21 the only reason they stand on top of the table is because they can see your flashlight! i learned the hard way, that all human enemies and monsters apart from sleeping biters, can see and react to your flashlight. It happened to me aswell on my first playthrough, and in the second one i flashed my light when they didn't have direct sight of me (even under a table) just to see the path i can take safely, and then immeadiately turn it off and use survivor sense so i can still see enemies and hiding spots in the dark. I wish they added more volatiles tho, and make them a lot tougher cause with some +200dmg weapons they are a 3-4 hit kill, or with a 140dmg bow it's just the same.

I had a weird moment with Aitor. I sided with the bazaar in old vilador. And blew up the windmill. Then ran into him getting “killed” BY Waltz in the tunnel. However, I did a lot of the story for the PKs in the central loop and he’s suddenly alive but it showed Aiden, me, holding Aitor up to beat him up. I eventually healed him, correctly, by listening to the Shaman. But after that, he just kind of disappeared.

The idea that the devs had an intended path was weird and affected me. I had chose to leave Lawan to defuse the bombs and also had the leader oof the Nightrunners die while chose to bring back the faction of Nightrunners. The ending had the bartender reference Lawan leading the Nightrunners(despite her clearly being dead from the bombs) and i think it because the devs didnt calculate for my circumstances regarding the nightrunners, while I also had the ending slideshow reaffirm Lawan's death and had Aiden leave by himself because of that.

Dying light 2 lived up to and surpassed all my expectations. Literally the only issue I have are the game breaking glitches and the inability to play coop for more than a couple of minutes at a time. The sky being frozen as night time was funny but just annoying, time actually freezing and me having to complete a side quest that never actually saves as completed for a TEMPORARY fix was aggravating. Joining online games having a chance of glitching your main quest in a number of ways sucks. The fact that Techland has been horrible at actually fixing the game and doesn’t communicate any progress decently to the fans has soured me horribly. Needless to say, I played 80 hours on my first save and maxed out everything in the game. I don’t think I’ll jump back into it until it’s finally fixed. Also to the point of choices not really mattering, they actually do matter greatly towards the end.

@shane long that “it’s only been a month” isn’t a valid argument. The thing that frustrates me the most about this game was the selective memory loss at wiping Waltz from Aidens memory like that. It literally makes no sense. And the whole Aiden turning into a zombie sometimes makes very little sense and should have been implemented more as a choice to actually STAY HUMAN. Give it a skill tree and the more zombie skills you take, the less human you are overall and then the blackout scenes where you can't control yourself makes more sense.

i beat the game once and did majority of side missions but once a new update came it, it pretty much told me my saved game was useless because it doesn't have the new update to the game which killed my joy of playing the game and some safe zones still don't work and near one of the bandit towers from the story mission there is a spot that says I haven't explored but there is nothing there. Even the survivor sense wouldn't work for the longest time which in certain missions you need it. This game was fun for one playthrough tbh.

I agree with everything except the choices. I played the first couple of hours alone and later joined with my friend and we were both confused bc we apparently did completely different missions from each other. Also whole side quest lines and areas of the maps can be unlocked, blocked off, destroyed, or restored due to your choices. And characters that live or die for that matter too. I do think it's weird what ultimately determines your decisions sometimes. Like in the beginning I mainly sided with peacekeepers but when I had to assign the water tower I picked the surviors bc I wanted ziplines. So even tho I sided with peacekeepers all the way through I still destroyed that peacekeeper owned windmill and technically sided with the survivors by the end of that section of the game. I also think some minor characters are sidelined due to these decisions like in the video when you mention Herman or what ever his name was lol. I dont think its revolutionary game decision making, but it's definitely better than what we always get in games where every choice doesn't matter except the very last one.

I have over 350 hours into this game. Truthfully I did experience a fair amount of bugs including a death loop in my 1st playthrough then the strange textures not loading at all. For me I know that a new game will always have issues and I can deal with it. I absolutely enjoy the hell out of this game. The parkour is my favorite part of the game, even at the start with low stamina, it's still very fun. My ONLY issue I have with it is that I play on a PS4 pro, I have taken apart my console to deep clean it, but every time I either look at fire, smoke ect.. going from my inventory back to the game my consoles fan gets incredibly stressed and occasionally automatically shut my PS4 off. Which scares the shit out of me considering that when it shuts off like that there is a risk thatt it'll never start up again. Though that may be an issue on the console and not the game it's still scary. Overall I recommend this game to everyone! You will without a doubt have fun, the story, meh... That gameplay is what I look forward to everyday.

I played a lot of DL1, right from the launch and years later when I get bored with newer games, it was a fun game. DL2 just got boring, fast, your character becomes a literal god about a quarter to halfway through the game making the combat terrible with zero point for strategies other than mashing the swing or drop kick button. The parkour element becomes pretty useless once you get the paraglider, same to be said in DL1 once you get the grappling hook that is a million times better than DL2s, you end up forgetting you have feet sometimes. I hope they can make DL2 better someday but for now it just goes on the shelf with all the new triple A games that got way too boring to fast.

I went into dying light after 500+ hrs of the first game and frankly the first is better in a tonne of ways which you can’t really tell without having played the first. It’s weird to claim the sequel inproved on the first if you haven’t even touched the first. Parkour- this is the only aspect I say is absolutely improved. Combat- mechanically yes, ability to block and use of parkour moves is good but the feel of it is not good, in dl1 weapons would bounce off if they hit the enemy in a wrong way, ragdolling was realistic and incredibly satisfying. In dl2 it is over the top and weapon feedback is minimal compared to the first game. Human enemies also get really spongey by the end and it’s basically just a qte fight with parry and attack over and over again. Night- nowhere near as good as dl1, if you stay on the rooftop you’re completely safe. In dl1 volatiles roamed the place so it was actually scary and dangerous to go out. Even with ambience dl1 seemed much more chaotic and creepy than dl2. It’s also so easy to escape the chase in dl2. Story- agree on all this aspect. Though literally the only character I kinda liked was Hakon, literally everyone else can get fucked. There’s a lot more I could cover too but I’d recommend playing the first game before making comparisons.
