What's it like to spend Christmas as a foreigner in Tokyo? I like to spend it talking to local people. Sometimes they are quite surprised when I speak to them, but if you speak Japanese people are really friendly in Tokyo. Join me, a former introvert who somehow became very social in Japan.

Lol, I'm not BDSM or a gay man, but I definitely got that vibe from the latex and metal. I was thinking that with as much chutzpah as it takes to go out in public like that, he must still have been a bit shocked to be addressed in Japanese by a western woman asking him why he was dressed that way and what it was all about. Having to stand politely and bow to her compliments. Then being told to "Go get 'em Mr. Pig!" LOLOL. This was high comedy with maximum cringe! Loved it.

When I visited Japan I was told they weren’t very welcoming towards foreigners, but even in more remote cities everyone was so kind and helpful. So Anming, how are we supposed to believe you're an introvert/shy person, when you walk up to random Santas and doggies and strike up conversations?! Perhaps that was your persona in Michigan but you've definitely blossomed in Asia. What I would like to see is what traditions the Japanese observe for New Years. And also, perhaps you can make a tutorial about the most useful phrases to learn when visting Japan for the 1st time. Congratulations on your continued march towards higher subscriber counts!

Part of the reason why I started learning Japanese (first self-taught/with help of my Japanese friends but now at my Uni) was because when I worked at Disney, the nicest guests were the ones from Japan. They were so kind when the first words I learned in Japanese were おめでとう and おたんじょうびおめでとう. I eventually learned basic phrases/sentences for my work position, and even though they might not have 100% made sense in Japanese, they were so grateful that I was at least trying! ❤️

That's a really nice video. The trouble with us westerners is that we always assume that other countries will display arrogance and rudeness to foreigners because that's how they're sometimes treated by us when they visit. I only know Urdu and English, so it is good to learn an extra language 5. I always wondered as a little kid how Japanese characters worked 6. There is a game called Dai Gyakuten Saiban. It was never localized, only released in Japan. So I really wanna play it. Also, please give me some tips to learn Kanji!

Anyone that thinks that doing KZbin isn't a real job, needs to watch a few of your videos and see the level of professionalism you put into your content and editing. The only thing that I dislike about the videos is that they're so short - I'm sure that myself and a lot of others would like them to be an hour long. Perhaps it's because they are edited as professionally as most real TV shows, that we expect them to be of a similar length. Anyway, good luck, and please don't make us wait too long for the next instalment.

I visited Tokyo over Christmas in 2003 and stayed in Ikebukuro for 3 weeks. Things seemed quite a bit different back then compared to the videos I see of Tokyo now. I barely saw any foreigners aside from the occasional "steerers" outside clubs. On a side note, I was visiting a Japanese friend who took me to a movie and I let her pick what we saw. We watched "The Last Samurai" lol It was also odd that I happened to check out the TV in my hotel room one night and the movie "Lost in Translation" with Bill Murray was playing. Those movies made the entire trip seem even more surreal.

Love your motorcycle-passenger big eyes at 1:06. Even with a face mask it says, "not in my comfort zone but doing it anyway". P.S. Your hair looks great after the salon treatment.

Loved this video! I love your positive vibes and confidence. I have to say, visiting a country where one can't understand the language nor read anything is pretty daunting yet exciting. Japanese people seem very cheerful and polite. And Tokyo never looked so good! Two thumbs up.👍👍

150k in 10 months is a pretty amazing feat, but then you are a pretty amazing individual, so it just goes without saying that your unique, educational, and quirky content would be a hit. I came for Japanese language learning tips and got much more. You find interesting people to interact with in Chinese and Japanese. Although it would be hard to get together, I'd like to see an update video on some of the interesting guests you had in your videos. Let's be honest I watch a video of you walking through a residential area videoing peoples drying laundry. Hope your Christmas was excellent and have a New Year Celebration for a better 2021. You're making the most of the hand you were dealt. I'm happy you take us along.
