@arelycarrillo59383 жыл бұрын
exactly what i was thinking when he said that 😭
@chattypatty42483 жыл бұрын
@fright car I don’t think so. Marienne’s character had too much depth to be a last minute decision. It’s clear that as time progresses, the show is gradually trying to show the audience how Joe came to be, while slowly forcing Joe to face his past and realize that he has serious issues. The fact that he has so much in common (past-wise) with Marienne kind of adds to that in addition to all the orphanage flashbacks, not to mention Joe probably sees in Marienne the choice to be there for her child in spite of her issues that his mother didn’t make for him. I could honestly see him chasing her an expedition to him finally receiving consequences for his actions, because even with her finding out what he is; he seems to have a HUGE Achilles heel for vulnerable children and I don’t see him intentionally killing her with her being her child’s only surviving parent. Especially after how he reacted to Love killing Delilah. I think there was just a lot going on this season in general, so it was harder to really focus on Joe and his individual problems, and subsequently adequately fleshing out Marienne’s character.

I don’t understand why people are sort of complaining or bummed that season 3 was so different from seasons 1 and 2. I mean Joe was a single man in seasons 1 and 2 who would get obsessed with women. In season 3 he was married and a father of course it was going to be different especially with Love being so impulsive. I thought season 3 was brilliant, and can’t wait for season 4.

I agree best season yet! I almost felt season 1 and 2 where anti-climatic and had a couple of twists. I think maybe it depends on your relationship status as well. those who are single and trying to date probably related more to seasons 1 and 2 are rather more creepy to them. Those who are/been married, or are/have been in long-term relationship can relate more to season 3 is rather more creepy.

Some people just aren't into content about married life. Watching a couple (mostly Love) trying desperately to make a marriage work that was only held together in the beginning by a baby is a bit of a bummer. @@riripari2042 That's the thing about the show that is real too. People in long term relationships often stay together way too long for the sake of the baby. Often times them staying together for the sake of a baby but it can be rather more damaging for the baby. There are so many one sided marriages like theirs where one it trying to make things work but the other is just frankly against them. This show true side of how marriages can be. It's not just happily ever after its work and often times it's the blame game to people. It's their fault you're not happy but it's your fault your not happy. Being held together becasue of a babby is a bummer is it quite the reality for a lot of people.

It's kinda scaring how people are not criticizing Joe's sociopathy more. Now Love is no angel but Joe emotionally manipulated Love, while chasing not one but TWO women! It was ok for Joe to kill and manipulate but when Love does it, she's a monster? I really hoped this season would do a better job of holding a mirror up to Joe, but it seems like the show runners were trying too hard to make him a sympathetic character by bashing us over the head with those childhood flashback scenes every two seconds. Joe doesn't love any of these women. He projects an image onto them, then gets mad when they don't act how he wants them to, and paints then as monsters to rationalize throwing them away like hot garbage. He spends so much time criticizing everyone else but neglects to point out that hes a manipulative sociopath, who loves the idea of love more than the women he chooses to obsess over. When you think about it from a real world perspective, there are actually guys out thrre who rationalize violent behavior towards women, and get away with it. It's scary as fuck.

Seriously, Exile by Taylor Swift and Bon Iver was the BEST choice for THAT moment in the season finale. It fit so perfectly with Love and Joe’s constant turmoil with them always being on different pages, getting increasingly frustrated and always at the tipping point, then the comparisons to Love and every other woman that Joe has obsessed over and ultimately, killed (or attempted to). Everyone needs to really listen to that amazing song and the lyrics. It’s beautiful. Here are just a few of the lyrics that I think fit them perfectly but honestly the whole song does. “I think I’ve seen this film before, and I didn’t like the ending. I’m not your homeland anymore, so who am I defending now? You were my town, now I’m in exile seeing you out.” “I think I’ve seen this film before, and I’m leaving out the side door.” “We always walked a very thin line. You didn’t even hear me out. You never gave a warning sign (I gave so many signs).”

It’s super interesting to me that so many people could sympathize with Joe in the previous seasons but now are finding him to be awful. Personally I’ve had the opposite feeling. In the first two seasons I was super put off by him and his obsessive behaviour and murder etc. this season there were lots of glimpses of him going in a better direction but every time he got closer to being better, Love did something impulsive that pulled him back. At the beginning of the season he had the opportunity to sleep with Natalie and rejected her because he felt a loyalty to Love despite her killing one of his only friends, and his moral compass was beginning to guide him in a better direction (again obviously still unfaithful and a bad decision but improvement from what he has done in the past) Love then kills her and makes him clean up the whole mess and proceeds to sleep with Natalie’s step son. He constantly says “this is the last time” to Henry only for Love to kill someone else for being an antivaxxer 😂 if you listen to Joe’s dialogues there are times where he tries to recommit to Love and their marriage saying things like “I don’t deserve her” “ she’s such a good wife I need to do better as a husband father” and then she does the next insane thing that pushes him further away. The other character arc for Joe that I found slightly redeeming this season was the way he fell for Marianne. When he first met Marianne he didn’t give her the time of day. He was in the library because he was following Natalie, chasing an image of a woman who he didn’t even know. His typical love at first sight pattern. He had no interest in Marianne at all at first. He developed a relationship with Marianne because they had similar pasts, similar interests and relatable life experiences. He fell in love with her because he was able to connect with her, not the image of her he created through stalking her social media or creating a caricature of her in his mind. This was the first time you see Joe really see the real person and her real flaws (addiction) and still accept them. This is a drastic departure from Love and I think shows how Love taught him to look at the person right in front of him instead of “staring at a goddamn fantasy” as she said in season 2. I loved the scenes where you saw him tempted to take something of Marianne’s but then puts it back like the bracelet. Also when he’s searching through her office computer and goes into her desk, there is a box of tampons. Every woman he has been obsessed with previously he takes a used tampon as a screwed up keepsake. It stood out to me that this recurring object was both unused and left behind. It’s was sort of a foreshadowing to me that she wouldn’t die because there was no blood. In that scene he says he’s done with Marianne because his image of her is “damaged” when he found out she was an addict but then when he gets to know the real Marianne he realizes her flaws are what make her a woman he cares for. This is why he was able to share that he murdered before with her (even though he only confessed to one of many) This is the total opposite of every other Woman Joe has been obsessed with. He creates and image of them that he wants AND he curates an image of himself to present where as with Marianne we see him give her little bits of truth and accepting her flaws whereas he resented flaws in his previous victims. I hope these brief glimmers of development continue in season 4 because lord knows Joe has a ton of work left to do on himself but if you look closely Marianne is slightly different than the others and I don’t find his pursuit of her to be repetitive or a part of his typical pattern. Another break from the repetition is that Marianne’s daughter is the first child that doesn’t seem to like Joe. A bit part of his character is that he is a protector especially of children, both Marianne’s daughter and Henry constantly crying or uneasy with Joe is symbolic of his image of himself as a noble protector of fragile things beginning to shatter and starting to see his true self. I would love to see a development where he turns himself in rather than getting caught, where he grows to a point where he can truly realize where he has gone wrong instead of seeking justification in everything he’s done. I think Marianne, Will Bettleheim, Dante, Ellie and Paco are all characters that have and hopefully will in future seasons lead Joe to the realization that he needs help. Joe has so many conversations with himself where he seeks to be a good person but he doesn’t have the tools by himself. I think it would be great to have a couple more seasons where he grows slightly (but is still crazy enough to have some suspense) but ultimately admits to everything because he will eventually realize it is the right thing to do. Thanks for coming to my TedTalk 😂

Anyone thinks that this season was way more brutal and mature than season 1 and 2? Cause I was left with big scars from this. At the beginning I was just thinking "aww, look how sweet are Love, Joe and little Henry together, like a family!" and then it got darker like "You" always does and the murderers started, so msny this time. I thought we knew everything about Joe's childhood but seeing so many new flashbacks in this season just made a lot of sense, made me think we knew nothing about Joe, even though we listened to his inner monologue every time. The reason he was so afraid of being abandoned, the reason he's killing every bad person. I wish we knew what happened to his mom though cuz at this point I wouldn't be suprise to find that Joe killed her and her new son. And when the fu*k is Joe gonna learm that things ARE actually gonna be the same everytime?! So many twisted news this season too. I really didn't wanna believe Love killed James. I mean, they seemed so happy, he was such a good man and Love didn't kill people she loves... But that changed in this season, my whole perspective changed. Now I can't stop wondering who is crazier, Joe or Love? At least, in the end Joe realized he's gotta save Henry from him and he left him with a beautiful family where he knew he'd be loved. Remains to be seen if Joe will find Marianne in Paris or find another obsession and continue it all over... Though, I'd like him to have a stalker of himself, a person who became obsessed with him the same way he does, a manipulative person who can show him how obsessive and sick he is. Now, the story of Nick will begin, soon.... :)

Meet a girl, get obsessed, stalk her and kill of any threats, then WHEN she disappoints him, kill her. The only deviation was Love. She was the wildcard that made the season crazy. I think Joe should of died instead. I don't see what else can happen with the character because he just repeats the same cycle over and over. Whereas Love is insane to the point you can't predict what she'll do next.

This was definitely the season where I thoroughly hated Joe and realized how deep into his own self righteousness he was. Candace wanted him to finally look in the mirror and see the monster he truly is: But even when he was self aware he wasn't really. Made the same excuses and the same mistakes. I found it funny that he finally realized his dating pattern in this season at least (via mommy issues) but not actually breaking it. This man is back on his bullshit. I think this season was imperfect but put the final nail in the coffin for how the audience *should* see Joe. Season one and two still lured you in with the charisma that he inflicts on his victims but this season made me absolutely disgusted with him. Knowing Penn wanted the audience to see Joe for the bad person he is - I think it finally shows here. The excuses, the justifications, and charm are running dry the more we dive into his psyche. If that was the goal for the writers this season I'd say that's the best thing to come out of it. I don't even know if having another season is a great idea at this point unless we finally see justice for everything Joe has done.

@@slowmomma7222 Really? Literally? 😃 Talk about a spoiler. I'm not actually upset about Joe being a killer in the show, I hope you know that. I'm saying the show did a good job at evoking the proper reaction because the general consensus before were people over empathizing with Joe and forgetting he's actually a horrible person. Evoking strong emotion and debate about a character is a sign of a good show. That's not the problem. When I said it's an "imperfect" season, it's that I can already see that the show itself is becoming a little gimmicky and losing potency. Which sucks because I enjoy it but it's probably a sign that it shouldn't be unnecessarily dragged out and ruin a good thing. Hope that makes sense.

I think this season was amazing. The point of characters like these is that no, they don't at all want to stalk and kill their own people. It's the opposite. They TRY to be normal, to blend in, but their true damaged nature won't let them. As far as Joe, it's almost a typical malignant sociopathic narcissist that always thinks the 'next' woman is The One, with the typical love bombing, stalking, whirlwind passion and then, decline and decay. That's EXACTLY how they operate. It was brilliant.
@TheTalmon183 жыл бұрын
Love is pretty crazy-but she sticks with the person shes with. James didnt want to be with her anymore and she only accidentally killed him. And with Joe, she let him choose. The paralysis was on the knife-he picked it up and thats when Love knew he had to go. Hated Joe this season. But it makes sense. He can never be truly happy because hes just going to forever bounce between new interests and always get them and their friend(s) killed. Love, on the other hand, likes people with problems and doesnt lose interest in the person. Poor Love :(

@@cutemissbubbly Not believable? It is totally believable, because thats how irrational, mentally unstable persons with mommy/daddy issues do behave. Just look at r/niceguys or r/nicegirls if you want to see examples in the wild. People there even claim to fall in love after just texting 10min with random people. Its totally believable that a guy like Joe, who only experienced toxic relationships and negligence in his life, falls for every random phantasy that pops in his mind. And the whole point of Beck was that she really just was a random girl, even Joe himself admits this in this season. Joe not falling for every random woman would totally undermine the point of his character: Being completely unable to form actual relationships based on a real bond instead of his manic phantasies in his mind.

He takes his mask off just to show Ryan how much he can, will and enjoys taking Ryan’s life in a violent, intimate way. It was such perfect dark comedy IMO chilling and creepy but for the span of three seasons of Joe trying to feel better about himself by acting above murder because he “doesn’t enjoy it” it was pretty thrilling/disturbing to see him rip his mask down and violently murder Ryan with a smile on his face. He has a break down and realizes that Love is the true love that he lost. But little does he know love is alive and she tracks him down. After a rough confrontation and some hard realizations they come together again as one. And toward the end they once again come face to face with an opportunity to kill someone.
