In this video I talk about an often forgotten or neglected nutrient that should in my opinion always be added to an intra-workout shake to maximize performance and achieve an amazing pump.

I think sodium is so important because bodybuilder normally don't eat convenience food, also we have much less sodium in our meals. Normal people eat a lot of convenience food and sausages, breads and all these things with a lot of salt and then to much salt can be a problem maybe for the blood pressure. I like this kind of videos and information, please more, thanks a lot 👍

Well done explaining the essential part of salt. People don’t realized every professional athlete drink an electrolyte drink like Gatorade. You might ask yourself why? The exact same reason Wessley points out. To reduce the cramps, and up the minerals with the balance of sodium and potassium

Great info. I was on keto for 6 months with heavy workouts. Being the carb count was super low per day, I was getting faint during workouts until finding out about the importance of electrolytes, ( salt, potassium, magnesium ). Hi, I agree with adding salt in the diet. However recently on Australian news it was reported that some brands of pink "Himilayan" salt do have higher levels of minerals and vitamins, but this includes up to 25% more lead. This is just of course a few "gourmet" brands but still good to look out for.

Which begs the question, are they reporting it strictly for health reason, or because its Australian salt and they're in Australia? Coincidence?

*This is misinformation.* Salt is salt. You do *not* need Himalayan purple salt. You should really research this one better. Let's say you take 3 grams Himalayan salts. I.E. for magnesium you get *less than half of a milligram*. That is about 0.1% of the recommend daily allowance. It will do nothing for you. Especially if you already take multivitamins which include these minerals. To give you an idea; An average multivitamin pil has about 100mg magnesium. Over 2 HUNDRED amount the volume of this so called "superior/magic" Himalayan salt.

ehhh... pink salt is superior to regular salt and contains just as much sodium chloride as regular salt but also alot of trace minerals which regular salt does not. pink is the least processed by far, also has much more magnesium and potassium + calcium, like 3-4 times as much...
@Caspaah151
@Caspaah151 3 жыл бұрын
@@lort6022 You repeat the BS marketing points he refers too.. It has irrelevant amount of magnesium/potassium/calcium. Salt doesn't have to be processed. And just because it's pink doesnt mean it's more biological. Actually the opposite is true. Coloring is often added to fake Himalayan/pink salt, which are in supermarkets everywhere.

Himalayan salt is nothing special. Its like 97-99% Sodium chloride (NaCl) which every kitchen has with a tiny bit of other elements for example Iron Oxide (rust) which gives it a pink color. The other minerals you're getting from Himalayan salt is negligible. People lose a decent amount of sodium by sweating, thats true but thats also because most people consume too much sodium nowadays and the body might be trying to create an electrolyte balance by dumping the excess sodium through sweat.

What does that really mean? Will these bodybuilders look back in 40 years and say why did I waste so much time lifting weights trying to prove something to people I don't even know? Why is it so important to have the approval of others all to satisfy the ego? The real question is, why is the ego such a driving force in our life?
