Imagine if tons of us moved from Britain to Dubai and then insisted they make alcohol legal, allow sex outside of marriage, make gay marriage legal and insist that everyone dress less conservatively. She seems to forget that they’re choosing to come here and in doing so then you should be in agreement with living with how that country is. Nobody cares what you do in your home but to insist that everyone already living here has to change our ways, morals, values etc to theirs is deranged thinking. Nobody would ever expect that the other way round. If you move to another country then you move on the basis that you abide by the rules of that country. You can dress how you like but you can’t force it on others. You can hate alcohol, but that just means you don’t drink it. How dare anyone move to anther country and expect those living there to change for them. Also people like her always go back to colonialism etc until there is a counterpoint made about another (less white) nation who did the same and then they decide it’s not relevant. It’s the same when people talk about reparations for slavery (to people who were never slaves and never even knew someone who was). When you speak about the millions of white people taken by Barbary pirates to be slaves though they aren’t interested. There isn’t much point is using logic or critical thinking of any kind with people like her because they’re not interested.

Going to another country as an immigrant or a refugee, and then expecting the people in that country to change their culture, customs, lifestyle, etc to accommodate you is just fucking wild. No, I do not think people should try to change the culture of areas they VISIT, but they WILL alter the culture of places they LIVE. Once a person is resident somewhere, and are a full citizen, they will have the same right to change the culture as those who want to protect it. That's the conundrum we all face. I could raise the same questions about people moving from the south of England to my home in the North of Scotland (I am.100% native Gael/Highlander... we are a minority in our own land!). Even people from the South of Scotland try to change our culture. I know there is a problem, but those who complain about refugees, and asylum seekers, are often perpetrators of the same kind of cultural invasion themselves. We do not like "outsiders". It is a natural instinct. I try to restrain myself in that regard. I find it easier to feel anger at an "entitled", arrogant, wealthy family from Essex, or Edinburgh, than an impoverished, cold, hungry refugee who has just paddled across the water from France. For most, the "outsiders" are unacceptable because of their race and religion. If they were white "christians" there would be fewer complaints...and you know it. This is a racial/religious issue for most of you, but the real story is far more complex than your tiny minds can comprehend.

In the first place, alcohols are a specific branch of substances in chemistry separate from anything else, just like acids are. In my language, the various kinds of drugs have individual category names and alcohol is separated from the likes of weed (but also from medicaments) through that, so I guess I projected that into the English word. You are correct. In English, the word drug is an umbrella term itself that encompases a boatload of things, alcohol included. Which, by the way, makes me think even less of whoever decided to coin it that way as it's basically useless in this form. Going by some dictionaries definitions of what a drug is, you can even find ones that would literally apply to the likes of sulphuric acid...so yeah.
