Why does she not keep the CBE and give all her money to the victims
@josmith1751

Like Jo Hamilton said, Vennells having her CBE removed is a distraction from the sheer fact that no one has received their compensation yet. Another sub postmasters that was imprisoned said the £600k compensation will have the interim payments deducted from it, I mean the incompetence of dealing with this is immense, MP's need to get their fingers out and do more to make this right, and they must also without a doubt imprison everyone up the chain at the Post Office & Fujitsu that abused their positions of power and were complicit in this cover-up, all those that lied, misled, deceived and concealed evidence, they need to freeze their assets and take back the bonus payments made to them on the backs of the lives they ruined.

I would say those postmasters affected would want post office bosses in prinson or at least ruined for lying. Let them know the postmasters were not just as easily disposed of as they thought. Another case of the workers being treated as disposable when it suit the bosses.

Too little too late. My heart breaks over the damage that has been done to these people and their families, the accusations of fraud ran through their communities like poison. It’s been 20+ years since this first happened why it’s never been resolved is beyond me. Each and every person deserves every penny they have lost to be paid back, all costs of lawyers fees or any fees for that matter to be reimbursed, they also deserve compensation for the suffering they have went through. Anyone who went to prison to have their sentence overturned as they were sent there because of a lie. I could go on and on. You ask why the engineers didn’t speak up? They wanted to keep their jobs and had signed confidentiality clauses in their contracts. I’m a retired pentester, and on many occasions we found major issues in different systems, whilst the business just wanted a “rubber stamp”. On many occasions when submitting our findings we were dismissed and told to delete our reports - not an uncommon occurrence sadly.

Jim says….. Fujitsu also was awarded the contract to roll.out the National Ping Alert last year, another “world beating” system like Test Track and Trace. As you know this sank without Trace a few weeks after it was introduced, as did the £37b cost to the tax payer. Fujitsu’s “Ping” was a “steal” at a mere £26b to the tax payer. Fujitsu sub contracted this job to a company called Infosys, which happens to be owned by a woman. This woman just happens to be the wife of… Rishi Sunak. Ker Ching! Where has all this money gone? Come on BBC, let’s have some of that investigative, traditional and impartial journalism!!

This was a failure of MANAGEMENT at the Post Office. Yes, bugs are common in major systems but the fact that such significant bugs made it through to the LIVE system means that there was either an inadequate specification of requirements or an inadequate system of testing - or most likely, BOTH. Those failures are management failures. Probably of people promoted into positions to tick boxes rather than on the basis of proven success at doing the job. Also, if the specification has inadequate controls and safeguards in it then the product can in fact be built to specification and yet STILL be not fit for purpose. I still can't understand how none of those accused were not able make an adequate case for their defence by simply analysing the processes themselves - or finding somebody else who could do that. If it turns out that requests for details of how the system worked were blocked or falsified, then people should certainly be going to prison. The whole thing is disgusting.

I think a major part of this is that when these people take their jobs they don’t see it as working for the people of Britain but for the government or the state. Everything she did was with that in mind. She thought she was doing what she was there to do - cover up for the government or the state. She never thought for one moment that she should have the benefit of the people of the United Kingdom as her number one priority. She was rewarded for the cover up, so her instinct was correct!

Paula Vennells knew that the horizon system could be accessed remotely, without the knowledge of the sub postmaster. The report published by Second Sight in April 2015 highlighted this serious potential breach. Paula Vennells and the Post Office board subsequently denied, suppressed and rubbished this report. Wouldn’t that alone deserve the charge of perverting the course of justice?
