I live in Philly and I'm 53 years old...I'm fully aware of Dr Clayton...she cared about our education, she had us walking to school in 6 inches of snow. R.I.Paradise Dr. Clayton

Beautiful tribute, Dr. Carr. Thank you for this. Proud product of Philly schools, started HS at Girls' High in '84 when she was Superintendent. She was a remarkable, formidable, and brilliant woman. Most of all, she put children first. Agree, everyone should know her name.

I knew Dr. Clayton for many years. She, myself and one of my family members traveled to Europe years ago together. Never will I forget our conversations over "dinner' at our home. Her mother was a stunningly wonderful woman who told great stories. May you both RIP eternally.❤

Connie Clayton was also responsible for the expansion of the College and Career Academy Model. This national education model, conceived by Charlie Bowser, supported by business, and nurtured and expanded by Dr. Clayton is all over the US and now the organization that I am with, the National Career Academy Coalition is working to implement academies in Thailand. My great honor was to let Connie know that her academies--while defunct in Philadelphia ---are alive and thriving across the country. She was so pleased! She said, "..somebody had better step forward and be an advocate for kids. We must educate the kids born into poverty and despair. We must value all kids not just a select few." I have the pleasure of talking about her and Bowser to folks around the US. The reaction is amazement that they never heard of the Founders of this Model. I feel like it's my mission to let folks know. These folks should not be forgotten. BTW, LOVED what you said about the School District building. I need to get that book! Thank you!

I have not heard of Dr. Clayton. However, it seems like I know her. I am 56yrs old and am from Pittsburgh. I knew Dr. Helen Faison. It seems like they were cut from the same cloth.
