Absolutely. I visited numerous countries (incl China and Cuba) during Dubya's presidency and everyone was wonderfully nice to me on a personal level, but many shared their problems with US leaders. They explained, very clearly, the same notion you shared: there's a huge distinction between the people of a country and that country's leaders. People are friends, governments are not given the benefit of the doubt for obvious reasons.

A little remark abot the bridge is that its called 'Troitsky' not 'Trotsky', and got its name because of the 'Troitsky Sqare' which is connected to. And the 'Troitsky Sqare' got its name from the "Troitsky Cathredral" which used to be there, but was demolished by the bolsheviks in 1932. And the world ''Troitsky' translates as 'Three' or 'in the name of the Three' and it comes from the christianity the Three Holy Hierarchs - Basil the Great, Gregory the Theologian, John Chrysostom.

It is interesting that in 1943, when this city was under German siege and its inhabitants were starving to death, the Russian composer Shostakovic premiered its Seventh Symphony, yes, in a city in ruins and to send a message to the Nazi regime. There is a believable story that a German general who could hear the symphony reacting to it by saying, "We'll never conquer this city": That is the spirit of Russia, I respect Russia so much.

American here! I spent two months in Moscow last year, and let me tell you, I absolutely loved it. Sure, some people back home thought I was crazy and gave me a hard time about it, but honestly? Don't believe everything you hear in the media. Russia is this incredible mix of beautiful and flawed, just like anywhere else in the world. In fact, I'm back in Moscow right now! Couldn't resist coming back to hang out and explore more. Oh, and here's a heads up for any fellow Americans thinking of visiting: 1. Customs might flag you for extra checks if you've got a U.S. passport. Don't freak out, it's normal, but be ready to wait 1-3 hours while they do their thing. 2. Pro tip: Bring some U.S. dollars and exchange them at local banks once you're in Russia. You'll usually get a better deal that way. 3. Or if you're tech-savvy, crypto can be a great option too! Dude, don't mislead people, you can bring cash dollars to Russia: up to 10 thousand dollars without declaration, up to 100 thousand dollars with declaration and over 100 thousand dollars, you need to provide papers on the legality of this money (bank statement, purchase agreement, and so on).

And it is best to change it in the exchangers of large banks. But otherwise he is wrong, dollars can be imported into Russia without problems. And yes, keep in mind, you cannot export euros from Europe, there will be confiscation at the European border, deal only with dollars or immediately change euros to rubles in Europe. Good luck!)

Thank you for this really interesting video! Your positive approach and your effort with the Russian language helped a lot. When I travelled to new country whose language I couldn't speak, I learned a few essential phrases, "Parrot-Fashion" and used the words, they contained, to build new phrases. This was, how my mother learned to speak 5 different languages fluently.

@@camocas Not even, pretty much all of the western world (and eastern now) is substantially safer and cleaner then the US. Its laughable state, but thats what happens when you have a society and culture built on hyper-selfishness. And any time some iniative pops up to makes things better, people cry communism, and not with my tax money! And instead those funds go to prop up corporations and politicians. As we all die of thirst waiting for that trickle down droplet.

Freedom xD 25% of all the prisoners in the world are in US jails, 2 ruling parties with no direct elections and goverment can decide what to do with your kid while you can be "canceled" if you disagree, not talking about constantly waging wars against 3rd world. #1 economy with no free medicine, no free education, bums and junkies on the street. It is the mega processed foods that are marketed by Government Controlling Corporations. When The Corporations selling tobacco products saw the end of that market drawing near, they re-invested into Food Products, and used the same techniques to create addictions, and increase sales. Seed Oils are for running machinery, not for human ingestion.

Makes me realise how broken my own country is. Not an abandoned building in sight, no junkies, homeless, no fights, no squalor. Quite different from the industrial hellholes of northern England, where all you'll see is poverty, gambling arcades, betting shops, discount alcohol shops, charity, and misery.

@@graemebuchan1919 Yep, in Russia it's difficult to speak freely. It's getting what way in the UK, but we're not quite there yet. The US is actually great for that, with their first amendment. Russia certainly ain't the place you want to be critiquing the government on social media channels, although many activists do.

Troitskiy bridge, rebuilt in 1824-1827, was supposed to be called Suvorovsky Bridge on the Suvorovskaya Square located opposite the bridge with a monument to A.V. Suvorov. However, in 1827, the bridge was named Troitskiy after the nearby Trinity Square and Trinity Cathedral (destroyed in 1932).
