With these simple steps, you will move up the ranks quickly and put yourself in better races with better drivers. Dude, you are so right about picking battles!! I usually just put pressure on the driver ahead of, don't get beside him, just ride the bumper and 90% of the time, they will shit the bed, lol. I never get into battles with people because they are usually their own worst enemy until you get into the B lobbies and up.

I WAS B carrying over from GT Sport. The problem is the other drivers, period. I went from B to now currently D over the last 2 weeks because of other shit drivers. People passing unsafely, waiting until you brake so they can setup to ram you off while passing you, pushing you off your line so they can pass. I even had 1 guy on a straight with plenty of space between us swerve into me to wreck just so I wouldn’t pass him. I went from 4th to 16th. Things like this kill your ratings. Everything else you mention here is just common sense to be a good driver, but none of it matters if other drivers are deliberately wrecking you. The only thing you can do as you mentioned is just be less aggressive. Most of these guys are wreckless or can’t drive, so you do have a good chance to move up to a good position. It may not be your best, but it’s better than trying to fight for position with one of these clowns.

Yeah, I find the less aggressive and less defensive you are in lower lobbies, the better you will do.

Nice video! What you say about avoidance is totally correct. My issue on GT7 is that I can get to B quite easily, but then I struggle to stay there. I'm constantly yo-yoing between B and C. I'm on a 20 race run now at the bottom of B, but I'm a couple of bad finishes away from going down.

Or you could just play the game and enjoy it to your abilities. I have put 230 ish hours in and not the fastest by any stretch but still have a blast whether in VR or not because of time constraints. Why be bothered about a rating that stresses you out amd takes the fun from the game? DR-D and SR S+ doesnt change the quality of the game ..still get rammers etc at A+

It's not about the driver rating as much as it is about the racing is just better once you get to B rated lobbies. Of course you will have bad drivers at all levels, but the racing quality will be better.

I’m fast but inconsistent and tend to take myself out. Often I don’t have the time to actually practice as much as needed unfortunately. My biggest weakness online is that I’m not used to driving against other real drivers, especially laggy ones that jump around, it’s distracting and I lose focus. Still love it though! I was an A for a hot second but I’m back in BC now :-/

between you and other creators ive been at a constant B rated driver, mostly because eveytime im about to turn A i always get dropped massively by another dirty driver that forces you to get penalties for no reason or force you to last place in the race

I find doing the single player circuit experiences gives you the track knowledge before doing the online races. Once you have gold in all sectors, 5-10 laps in your chosen car is normally enough before heading online. Just my thoughts 👍

I haven't done Circuit Experiences. It doesn't actually train you or give you tips based on your driving, though, right? You still need to figure it out on your own?

Sort of. Breaks each lap in sectors then a complete lap with time targets. You find the best lines/breaking markers etc. If you get all gold in all sectors you know the track well enough to know what you are doing online. Possibly not for everyone but works for me.

this is as solid advice as you can get for C/D. Get to B with consistency because you cannot make it in B and above without it. At B you need to know the track enough to be 2-3sec behind the top times. At C/D if you're 4-6 sec behind top times you're already doing good. I'm bottom of the barrel B rating as I don't have enough time to practice the tracks. Also it's easier to have clean racing in the evening/night when all the kids go to sleep. Even at C-S you can have very good close races. You'll be gaining a lot of positions not from being fast but from capitalising on other ppls mistakes if you're consistent enough.

It definitely takes forever to get from B to A-A+ but going from a E to B in a couple days. I think I did 22 races and got to B when I made my new account but I won like ¾ of the races and I had all top 5 finishes, lol. As long as you get a really good qualifying time, you definitely are half way there.

Yeah, qualifying times are very important if you can run quick and consistent. You'll be able to run away from the pack often times.

T minus 24 hours until i have my Logitech DD setup on the custom rig i built this weekend. I did it Cas, ill finally be on wheel and pedals with my VR... Question is do you think i will ever get up to my control pad level? If so how long does it take to adjust?

OMG, finally!!! You are going to have a whole new appreciation for VR Sim Racing! You were pretty fast on controller, so I will be curious to see your speed with a wheel and pedal set. I've never sim raced on a controller, so not sure how long the adjustment time will be, but for me, I'd rather be slower using a full rig in VR then be faster using a controller. Can't wait to hear about it once you get to try it!

My biggest rating jumps came with your tips and tricks along with Grove Street, Tidgney, and Kei... My best advice is to practice, learn the tracks before racing other people on them, and take a deep breath and have fun (not letting the race intimidate you into making mistakes).

My man, I love your channel, I get what you’re all about but this has to be the most discouraging video. I “should be” but guess what, I cannot possibly get any lower. If I drove backwards I’d actually not go any worse. I did what you said. I learned this week’s B race backwards and forwards. I practiced 20 laps a day, twice a day, every day. I got the best qualifying time I ever got on Forest. 1:35. So I now start in the worst possible place: between 5th and 8th. That is a murder zone. So I avoid the first melees and am instantly passed by every single car that started behind me. Every race. I just can’t catch up. So I’ve bottomed out. I cannot get to B or even C because there is no way. I qualified too high. I can’t derank so after a few races I just gave up.

For the next week, do everything the same but don’t do a complete hot lap to get a little slower qualifying time. Just brake before the finishing line a little. You can still drive the rest of the track as fast as you can. For me it was also very hard to get close to my qualifying time in the race.

Not getting near your qualifying time in a race is normal. I am usually 1 to 2 seconds off of it in a race. It's knowing how to avoid incidents, be consistent, and picking your battles. Some tracks it will be hard to catch up to the cars in front and other times things will be easier. Don't expect to move from 8th to 3rd. If I start in 8th, I'm looking for a finish of at least 8th or trying to move up a place or two. If opportunity presents itself to gain more places, I'll take it. Otherwise, look for small improvements from your starting spot.

@@hoodzzeee Absolutely, I also play other games like NBA 2k so its rare that I ever play GT7 for more than an hour at a time. I even find that I get bumped more against C drivers who think they're Verstappen whereas D is more laidback, and the bumps are more likely accidental. As long as you're having fun, thats all that matters.

Im a D driver just started online racing after purchasing a vr2 and ps5 black friday. What i dont get is i end up getting better spots yet still end up loosing DR points? My SR is going up as i dont intentionallz dirty drive but thats not helping me much. Each Race Ive done I ended up in a better spot yet my driving rating continously goes down and I have no clue why. Infact the people that drive dirty or punt actually often get a better DR and theire SR doesnt go down? This rating system leaves you in the dark on how many points you actually get and why you get or loose them. If I end up getting a better position I should be rewarded not punished especially if I raced clean and my SR goes up. Was hoping to find out why in this video.

Any position you finish below 8th place will drop your DR rating. Regardless of whether you started in 16th and came 9th etc. It sucks but that's how it is. As for the SR rating, I find it confusing. I have what I feel is a clean race and it drops and vice versa. Best tip is not to race until you have a qualifying time that will put you at the very least 8th place to start. Then you have a good chance to increase your DR on every race. Easier said than done.

No worries. Also, remember that the higher your SR, the more DR points you will get. So the quicker you can get to a S rating on your SR, the quicker you will aquire DR. I try not to worry about it to much, I enjoy the racing no matter which rank I'm currently at. In fact it's more fun if I drop down a rank because I don't get absolutely left in the dust in every race.

Focus on getting in the top 8. Further than that, you need to beat drivers with higher DR than you in order to get anything. If you are qualifying towards the back, you are going to struggle to move up enough places to get points.

You need unlock it on the map. The section is called Sport for the Daily Races. There will also be a place unlokced to race in Lobbies that are setup by other players. You will need a Playstation Plus subscription to race online.

I used to be a GT controller driver for literally 20+ years. I bought Project Cars 2 but it was unplayable on the game pad. 🎮 Then Lewis Hamilton dropped his DLC and I just couldn't beat him... Always 0.1 or 0.2 secs off... Final straw. Can't beat 'em, join em. Etc... Ordered a G29... Initially, I was about 2 seconds slower! But within 2 weeks I was the same or better, and finally kicked dust in the F1 champ's face... Wheel, like VR, is different. But I'd never go back now. I'd just be clumsy

​@@katos84770I threw the smaller tv on the dining room table and clamp the g29 on there. No room for a sim rig either table is less than ideal (wiggles). Looking for a folding setup sooner than later but budgeting and saving. Having growing pains with this wheel right now throttle input needs smoothing out.

If you would see the rev meter that GT7 shows for other views, it would be shifting around the middle. You can see this at the end of the race when I switched to the replay view.
