Not sure if your basing your video on your one male beagle. I've had 5 beagles over the years, male and females, and they both have their quirks. My first beagle, a female, would eat anything and destroy everything up until the day she passed. Training is tough, regardless of sex, their food motivated, so use that to your advantage. Letting a beagle off leash, whether it be a male or female is a good way to burn the soles off your sneakers and have a heart attack. All my beagles loved to smell everything and will hit on a scent and ignore me. Can't tell you how many times I've had to run outside to scoop one of them up at 2am when they start to bay. My two male beagles are little more territorial, however, my female will also get in on the barking when she sees another dog or person walk past the house. My males will mark when on walks, but every male dog does. My current female does not, but my first did. Bottom line, I don't think the title is accurate, whether it be male or female they are great companions.

I agree with you for most of what you said except for potty training. I have the pleasure of looking after two beagle dogs together. Quincy became fully housebroken long before Dakota. Accidents in the house are now a lot less frequent for both. They are both now 1 year old. The territorial part I have noticed. He is the first to check out what's going on outside, thinking there may be an intruder, and barks like crazy. I see him marking his territory a lot in the back yard. He spends a lot of time outside following his nose. In terms of maturity, the chewing part seems to be worse than with his sister. He has chewed on a lot of inedibles and vomited a lot of them along with his kibble. . I read on Facebook that someone's male beagle consumed a large pile of Scrabble tiles and still made it to 14! He expects you to give him attention, and will bark until you do. With Dakota, she's a love seeking gal but she does it so casually. Quincy tends to get upset at things more and growls more too. He didn't tolerate the e-collar after he was neutered, he doesn't like to wear his harness, and he doesn't really want anything on his body. Not so with Dakota. Both are very food motivated but Quincy even appreciates the smell of food, like peanut butter scented non-toxic bubbles! They are both loveable, curious, smart and hospitable when I come over for their play sessions.

Is it normal for beagles to not bark a lot? I have a purebred female beagle and she rarely ever barks. She barks sometimes when other people come into our home or when she is staring out of a window but that is very rare and most of the time she rarely barks. I know beagles are known for their barking and wanted to know if this is normal.

You should change the title of this video. What if someone is thinking of rescuing a male beagle and don’t because they come across your video? Not all male beagles are bad boys. Mine is great. This is sad.
