I bought a Mod Shop guitar. A Stratocaster built with what I wanted. Arrived in about 30 days and I am on the East Coast. Price actually dropped when I went to finalize the order. I received regular updates on the build also. I was super pleased with the experience.

The price was changed real time in the Red accept box when you clicked on different options. You can play for hours in the Mod shop building guitars ! Fender stopped selling the neck I saved up for and Sweetwater said the Last one they had got broken : (

I ordered a 2020 fender broadcaster usa in November of 2020. It was delivered the first of august, so what 42 ish weeks? Nice.

I ordered an American Original Telecaster in August 2020. they still don't make them yet :) I cancelled my order in February 2021

I do this several times a week. I'm not working right now and I also got neck surgery yesterday so I'm 1- not buying anything, and 2- have at least two months of recovery time. So I'll probably do this a few million times more. There are options I wish were available but the mod shop is so much fun.

Enjoyed the video. Wish they would have more options like belly cuts and heel contours for teles. I'd love a pine nashville tele in butterscotch blonde with the belly cut and heel contour. Classic appearance with some modern comforts. This would make it a poor man's (err... less rich man's) custom shop. Go up to $2800 or so instead of $5k.

If you want a unique look that isn't available in their current offerings, then you either build it yourself and have it labeled a "partscaster" which you can never sell for anything near what you paid for it, or get it built on the custom shop. So i think it's worth it. Cool interface.

I think it is for just the US. Maybe it's to save them having to use metric parts, seeing as nobody else has their grandad's old spanners any more.

Mod Shop is available here in the UK, too. Surprised to hear that Canada doesn't have it, being neighbours to the USA and all. 🤷‍♂️

Really!? I’ve never seen it on the UK site?? It says it’s “not available in your region” when I do go in the American one, it comes up with some really shit computer animation of a guitar… not what we’re seeeing here

They have more options than they did a couple months ago at least. The mod shop is cool in general but there were more options in the past.

As of january 2025, the most a mod shop strat can cost is 2,600. also now gold parts cost 200 dollars extra

I've heard Mod Shop orders were running between 6-12 months for production. It was cool at first, but there aren't enough options for most models (i.e. anything that isn't a Strat or Tele). I like checking in to see what's available anyway

They are n’t part of any series, just a Mod Shop build. They come with a build sheet and a COA, and the guitars have a “Mod Shop” neck plate
