I had a different kind of parasite, one that's microscopic so no way I could've seen it, for at least two years without knowing it. It made me so sick, and I found I could not eat any dinner at all or I would be sick on the toilet for the entire next day. I did sell medical attention, but the doctors mis-read the results of my stool sample and told me I was fine. The illness progressed and I developed pre-diabetes, high blood pressure, compromised kidneys and liver, and some other issues I have might be related but might not. Don't trust the first doctor you go to if you're sick and they tell you you're fine. Ask to see every test result yourself. Don't let a parasite ruin your life.

My understanding is that it's not the life stage of the tapeworm that determines whether it stays in your gut or migrates to your muscles and/or brain, but the species of tapeworm. Beef tapeworms (Taenia saginata) recognize that you are not a cow (it's intermediate host) and develop into adults in your gut. Pork tapeworms (Taenia solium), whose intermediate host is a pig, don't know that you are not a pig and so burrow into your muscle and brain tissue, in the hopes that you will be eaten by its final host: large cats.

Nope, it is the life stage, at least for species capable of that kind of invasive infection - the larval stage is too large to effectively invade other tissues and happy chilling in the intestine (it's been a while but I believe it's the porcine tapeworms you mentioned - they will happily infect humans in the larval stage as well and aren't limited to just the invasive egg stage).

I had to make a research paper about tapeworms last year and found out the most common way to get them out is to get a big bowl of hot milk and putting your open mouth close to it. The tapeworm will be attracted to the smell, get close to it, and when its head is in your mouth, you grab it and pull it out

Biggest issue I had with my tapeworm is that sometimes the idea that there was this big ass worm inside of me would scare the shit out of me and made me extremely paranoid, sometimes it even made me throw up. For the rest I had some really bad stomach aches and weird changes in appetite. Overal I don't recommend it, 2/10 intestinal pet.
