But let's face it, the point of a ref is to not include the opposition, because that would put them in a bad spot. Either he insists on his right which makes him look bad in front of he audience or he caves which hurts his chances. Imagine a footballer taking a dive and the ref asking them whether they were fouled.

@@gregoirefourniermontgieux2033I had to find the full video myself and look up the rules. So Judd broke and Ronnie's shot on the red was tight after. He asked the ref and Judd to check that he could see the red and had a possible shot on it (in case it was replaced). He took it and missed everything, ending up on the middle left of table. Now the ref replaces the ball back to where it was originally, as this is apparently the rules they are using when there is a foul and a miss. Then Ronnie is not happy with the placement being the same.

weird that nobody ever mentions the marker, because he's the one in control and he kept saying 'just a fraction' and told the ref to stop adjusting, when it was shown on tv there's significant difference and the position still needs to be adjusted. do these markers not see what we see on tv or they're simply not good enough for that job? it's fine when a fraction doesn't play a role, balls aren't perfectly placed, but in this situation it really does, and it's so obvious

O'Sullivans first attempt only just missed the blue and then missed the red. The referee replaced the cue ball in the wrong position which benefited O'Sullivan and he hit the second time. Trump just agreed with it all because he didn't want confrontation.
@TheAjaykoli
@TheAjaykoli 2 жыл бұрын
Trump shouldn't have been involved there. He just kept on moving it to the red. Power dynamics here. How even Judd submitted to Ronnie. If it was Selby, he would have taken the chance to piss Ronnie off and gain some advantage of that.

Spot on, Trump should have refused to interact, O'Sullivan has done that in the past and in Trumps place HE would have refused to get involved here too Poor refereeing to involve Trump, O'Sullivan knew if he involved Trump as another player it would benefit him and it did

o'sullivan just tries to throw his weight around. poor sportsmanship. he loves to go on about Selby making things scrappy and while yes that makes for poor viewing, at least Selby doesn't try to bully other players and the referee. Judd dealt with that super well, unfortunate that the ref couldn't contain the situation. But honestly if it weren't for his brilliance on the table everyone would hate him. A genuine shit of a man. good luck to Trump

To me it seemed to be basically on the same spot, just a fraction closer to the center and a tiny bit farther from the cushion. Happens all the time when repositioning the balls like that. Not necessarily a big deal, imo. But surely there are some mind games going on, this time from Ronnie himself, maybe Trump shouldn't have been that accomodating.
@scottmackintosh5934

Terrible attitude from the referee. When he said “yes, perfect” he sounded so patronising. Also he believed Judd that it had to go right but not Ronnie. He looks intimidated by Ronnie and doesn’t want to argue with him so instead of listening he is like “yes perfect” “fraction” to end the conversation quickly

Dennis Taylor on commentary was insufferable when this happened. Had an 'it doesn't matter' tone to his words in a World Championship Final no less. "If only O'Sullivan hits it off the side cushion and plays into the pack we'd be saved of this". But the ball needs to be placed in the exact position it was in because O'Sullivan wants to play his specific shot, doesn't it Mr Taylor? Very happy he's being shifted out by the BBC

The referee should decide, he should not even have to ask both players if it's alright, it's his job to do it correctly. If that is too hard for a referee, then technology should be implemented. Simple as that! I am not complaining about the referee, this is just what World Snooker has to decide, the fact that the referee needs to check with both players if they are ok with it, it's just absurd.
