2019 street view just a pile of dirt. The industrial estate was the hangers and buildings of RAF Greenham Commons 1942-1992 including (potentially) nuclear weapons. Greenham Commons airfield to the north made a public park in 1997 (and no drone restrictions). Unbelievable, in the UK as a charity, you can make a 10% profit, or in his words, surplus? Here in France 🇫🇷 we can make 0 profit. It's all honorary and has to be 100% invested into itself. You can employ staff just like any other business and are tax-exempt up to a total income of 40,000€ a year. After that, you pay taxes at the normal rate. I believe what he is on about is financial grants. They have to be used 90% for self-investment and 10% may be used for running costs. However, if you don't use up the grant, it may be reduced next time. That is the penalization he is talking about. Here, however, you can't get grants from the country unless you have at least 300 or 400 members and have an annual income of at least 50,000€. That's why small charities in France are generally obliged to fundraise in public. That feels like begging and let me tell you, the people treat you just the same. They just don't know how the system works and automatically assume that charities get everything given, when most smaller organizations like the one my wife, my son, my daughter, and I founded in 2012, are generally self-financed. There is more but I don't want to bore you to death. Lol

It's why I don't give to charity anymore. Found out less than 15% of all donations from a particular charity actually goes to help. The rest is salary and then bonuses for the top level people.

DJ, amazingly that 10% thing is true to what I know from working in charities. I've never worked on management level as I've always stayed "free" but I've spoken with enough high ups that I've heard this sort of thing. Theres a margain you have to stay in to obtain optimal priveldges and so on. They make FULL use of the benefits but alas, the money often gets spent on BS that doesn't benefit the people it should, its just used for the hell of it so it doesn't have to be "not recieved". If this means better HQ with state of the art computers then thats what it goes to. It's sad but those are the rules. I never got paid from a charity in any way a single time in my life, but I've dedicated years to working for them. None of them are clean. It's sad but they all reach where they should and they're the best we have.
