I believe those shoe stores that analyze your arch/pronation should be banned or come with a prominently visible warning: "We are not sports medicine experts".

It's not clear to me what pronation is, or at least the pronation that I can avoid with running shoes or which shoes to buy.

For years I put up with achilles pain on and off. I bought some Adidas Boston 12's, which have minimal heel support, and I haven't had any pain over the last few months I've been running in them. So yes this so called support thing is garbage.

Yea I wear those day to day but still run in a cushioned shoe for the performance benefit. I think having both is beneficial if you want a healthy foot and also to run fast races.
