I fry eggs in a carbon steel pan, using plenty of oil. To flip the egg, I have a stainless steel spatula with a beveled leading edge. It works without fail, fried egg, after fried egg. Preheating is important.

I've used cast iron and stainlees steel pans for years, and I can flip eggs just as easy as you can in that unhealthy non stick pan. And as far as SS pans go eggs wont stick as long as you use an adequite amount of oil or butter and allow the egg set before you flip it won't stick.

When I was 22, I worked in a restaurant off US 66 in New Mexico about 55 miles east of Albuquerque. The breakfast cook taught me how cook eggs. He said to first learn for muscle memory first by flipping a piece of bread... after about 15 days later, I was flipping 2 eggs easily on 6 or 8 inch pans.

If I flip an egg in an egg pan, I don’t need a spatula. On the flattop, I just use the breakfast spatula (not the Smashburger spatula).
@madmike542119 күн бұрын
Two ways to flip an egg: 1) On a flat grill use a spatula. 2) In a pan you use the pan to flip it. This is a wasted 10:12 seconds of my time. I have cooked eggs for over 50 yrs and in a pan , you use the pan why waste time with a spatula. If a cook in a restaurant is using a pan and a spatula to flip eggs, he has no business cooking in a restaurant.

Stainless steel is just as non stick as Teflon if you know what you are doing. Avacodo oil is a much better choice than olive oil. Higher smoke point and it doesn't add any flavor to what you are cooking.

Watched the whole vid to see if you'd come up with the MOST professional egg flapping method. But alas, you DIDN'T! You came close with the lid approach, but I flip eggs sans spatula/lid! Practice flipping using only the pan, starting with a bread heel and flip the heel. Once you're able to do that, you can flip an egg when the white's are set. You can also practice flipping a cup on a saucer, same wrist action required!

What B*llSh*t!! I use about a 8 inch Teflon or ceramic pan and some butter and NO FLIPPER OF ANY SORT! I break 3 eggs into a bowl, pour them all in the skillet at the same time and when they are ready to flip, I do a quick front to back wrist flick, just like they do in every breakfast serving restaurant I've ever been in. Who flips fried eggs with a spatula? An omelet, maybe, but not over easy eggs. What crap!
@tonyp453613 күн бұрын
Some good ideas and some not so good. You suggest a stainless spatula while saying you stick free. Not a good idea. Then you say thin spatulas and show a wooden one which is never going to be thin. Eliminating cast and stainless is a mistake. They do require some technique. While some disagree I think this would be helpful because it did not assume everyone watching this has done eggs for 20 or 50 years. I do like the idea of using a cup.
