As a soldier, i found a number of leopard geckos in Afghanistan. They are not very attractive as wild specimens.

I was looking for high quality images of this species a few years ago. Really cool herping adventure. Some neat ideas for New Caledonia vivariums, looks like some sort of birds nest Fern covered the ground in this area.

I still can't believe you found one! I get the feeling most people watching this don't really get how unbelievable it was for you to actually find one of these with just 2 days to look. I mean if bookies were putting odds on the chances you would actually find one it's gotta be atleast a hundred thousand to one. Probably even more than that. Finding the terror skink has got to be your most significant event of your entire herping career.your entire life even. Unbelievable stuff Dav.really well done and thank you for sharing your amazing experience with us.

This skink is bad a**!! Very beautiful and like the one gentleman said that it would be better if the island we're crawling with them. Hopefully their population will increase and never become extinct. Awesome find! Lack for a better word!

🤔 Hmmmm! Ancient new Caledonian Legend has it, that they are found by the hundreds, in the bottom of 40 foot sinkholes, that are found along the side of Main trails! 😉👍 Nice find, congrats!

Honestly, this is amazing. I hope that this is enough evidence that maybe one day, a team of scientists could do a good study on them. With something as endangered as this, as much knowledge as we can have on something like this, is important.

They eat young leachies... leachies are already difficult to breed in captivity. It would be a lot to have a steady supply of young leachies unfortunately :/

After a lot of research I found out that 10:55 track is Double Helix - Ethan Meixsell. I also recommend the track "By the sword" from the same artist. He's a legend. Great choice Dav!

That Skink is 100% adapted to that island & its foliage & trees. Longest skink I've ever seen. Perfectly matches the branches.

Very very cool. I would have to say these guys and the Borneo earless monitor have to be the two coolest rarest lizards to me. And somewhat similar too pretty cool. But other then those I would have to say the tri color or rainbow monitor might be the numero uno rarest coolest find in the wild for me if I could pick. Close behind being the Borneo earless then maybe a chahoua and then the beautiful blue green black or yellow tree monitors.
