i looked at the kickstarter page and it was a little confusing. to get what you showed you need the kickstarter light engine and a few upgrades for the light engine case and shipping so it seems a bit pricey at the moment and is really for the DIY printer enthusiast right now.

What technology? It’s not talked about as far as I can tell. What does DSP mean? How does it differ from SLA, LCD, or DLP?

nice tech this is. I would recommand to keep the door closed and the lens clean. All that fuzzys that can fly in.... and maybe a usb cable for the stick? an a bit of duct tape for the other kabels... if this where mine, i think i would try to protect the lens from dripping resin, maybe with some sort of gutters under the glas, going to a tank? *thoughts from a german mechaic...

That packaging box would make an awesome frame for an underground dungeon build for D&D. Lots of levels. Very cool new 3D printer. I wonder .. it looks very top heavy . How well is it balanced?

Thanks. It's not as top heavy as it looks, the light engine and housing has a bit of weight to it.

Interesting technology, but 36 µm accuracy (for 700 USD) is still less than 22 µm accuracy of 8K monochrome LCD printer- yet savings in printing time is a huge advantage. One more thing - how to be sure, that printer produce 100% accurate size of a model, if you can set the distance of a lens manually - it looks like user have to make several models and compare them to set scale correctly.

I would agree, i still need to learn more about how exactly to focus this printer for scale accuracy. I think it is a fun and interesting way to upgrade an old printer, especially if you enjoy 3d printing technology.

@@FacilityD20 Probably with precise (large) dimension set on caliper, that lays on the screen and some reference file with same dimension which is displayed by the Kirin projector- then set manually the lens to match displayed dimension to caliper ?

That is some SERIOUSLY cool tech! Love the models, too, I've been looking at some busts from user Fotis Mint over at printables (primarily the Diablo 3 and World of Warcraft ones), I think those would look awesome in the same resin you did that Doc and Marty print in!

It's just a different light source, you're still contending with peel forces and fep film - also a fep leak could potentially end up pouring liquid on the light engine. If Hitry put out a medium or large format top down printer then Id be all over it.

Disclaimer: I am admittedly largely ignorant as to the 3D printing hobby. That said, while I understand that this light engine significantly improves one's ability to print higher quality items, I don't understand HOW. What can a projector possibly do to make 3D printing better?

It has a long life span, and fast speed, but it is also a great option to upgrade old printers. The Kickstarter page goes into much more detail on comparison to other printer types, my video just shows what it is, how it works, and my experience with it.

​@FacilityD20 I watched the entirety of your video and didn't come out any wiser as to how it works. Why are projections of light even involved in the printing process? It sounds like the equivalent of sticking a mechanical pencil inside a flashlight to improve the light's brightness; the two have nothing to do with each other. Now, I understand that I'm probably missing something. As I said, I don't know much about 3D printing. However, I have yet to see the function of the projector connected in any meaningful way. I get that it makes it better, and even what specifically is made better, but not WHAT it does that yields these improvements.

3d printer crowdfunding campaigns almost ALWAYS end in disappointment. I would caution you to consider reputation when backing or promoting them.

Thanks. Kickstarter always have a little inherent risk. I can't not speak to that, only to the light engine I was sent.
