Funny people in the comments complaining about the finish of the movement, and the price. Most plain Rolexes are more expensive and less exclusive. If this was a Patek P. It would be priced x3. I love Habring2 and had been looking for a model I would feel comfortable spending my hard earned money on. Thanks Peter for helping me make that leap. As always wonderful video.

Beautiful watch, thank you for sharing it! The second hand ticking whole seconds dates back to the pocket watch era, and was called ‘dead seconds’ or ‘Seconde Morte’ in French. Many pocket watches for the Chinese market had dead seconds, as it was considered unlucky to break the seconds up into pieces. These watches often had a Duplex escapement that was designed to easily facilitate dead seconds. Some very high grade pocket watches, such as made by James Nardin of Le Locle, had two separate going trains coupled to the escapement, one for the hours and minutes, and another for the dead seconds hand. More recently, simpler designs very similar to what is seen in this watch were used. I’ve seen a few vintage wristwatches with dead seconds, but this Habring2 has to be the best looking I’ve seen in wristwatch format.

I have never been a fan of regulators because they’re a bit of a pain to tell the time with. But I would happily change my tune for this. It’s worth spending those few extra seconds on this lovely dial. And a dead beat seconds complication is just showing off. That’s so cool. This is the best watch you’ve reviewed since your gorgeous dornbluth

A quote from Théophile Gautier, French poet, novelist and art critic: “Beauty, the only thing that cannot be acquired, forever inaccessible to those who do not have it.” Also, this “JOSEF” is a real inaccessible beauty (for me). But, my interest in beauty is firstly linked to the admiration of the work and talent of artists, and in particular, the watchmakers Maria Kristina & Richard Habring. Thank you very much for this new presentation.

There is a practical reason for the deadbeat seconds complication. It originally was invented for regulator watches, which were developed as reference timepieces, to enable more precise timesetting.

I really appreciate your channel for highlighting uncommon watches, the German/Austrian ones in particular. I'm a huge fan of German watches and after many years of lusting after a Habring (I realize they're Austrian) I took the plunge and ordered from Define Watches the Erwin Pilot which shares the same jumping seconds with the watch you're presenting here, minus a complication. I really feel that supporting small watchmaking artisans like Habring and Dornbluth & Sohn, among others, is far better than springing for whatever big name brand everyone else is sporting.

Really nice craftsmanship and i think the finish of the movement are really nice and thought trew. The fact that they designed the movement where the regulator are the center of the movement, this watch are perfect for the collectors that like the history and craftmanship behind watch makeing! Thats the same reason why almost every modern watch whit a tourbillon movement shows of the tourbillon in the face. And people pays a lot of money for something that's useless on wrist watches. But as an collector i would love to own a tourbillon watch and i would love to own this watch to for the exact same reason! And i really love the fact that this is unique and made by an smal independent watchmaker!!! I have one issue and thats the long minute hand it looks strange and totalt of! They should have gone fore a Hour and minute hand like an regular watch and the put the power reserve where the hours are now. And of course they should keep the jumping second hand in the same position, that makes sense..... I would love to own this watch anyway but whit those smal changes this watch would go from a 7/10 to a 9/10.....

Nothing against the watch, the looks, or the story. But i think it is a shame, especially considering the astronomical price, so little attention was spent really finishing the movement itself.
