So true! I was always a chubby guy, even with 10+ years training Taekwondo. Now, with 1 year of keto + 8/16 intermittent fasting I'm starting to see the abs. Exercises and proper amount of protein does help muscle growth, but you won't see any of that if you're fat.

Was a power lifter / athlete, Fell off the roof at my job 20' drop on to a concrete balcony I ruptured several spinal disk. I went from 4 hour work outs ,to being wheelchair bound. My appetite remained huge because of my enormous muscle mass 375lbs with a 40 inch waist. That was the beginning of the end high blood pressure eventually diabetes metabolic syndrome overload finally suffered a stroke I was devastated also paralyzed had to relearn everything, also took advantage of the new science turned it into an opportunity to learn everything about nutrition thanks to you dr. Ken Berry and several other doctors on KZbin made sense to what I learned from my own body throughout years of dieting and nutrition. The keto lifestyle save me I'm off of all my medicine blood pressure normal ,down from 420lbs lost150lbs lbs. I did a 14 days fast and my nerve damage had improved in those 14 days than in the last 6years physical therapy.. also one day my depression just disappeared it was just a feeling of calmness Eternal Bliss since that day I've always been happy from morning to night thank you for being Who You Are, Thank you for caring.

I was already lean but I was having trouble losing that last 10lbs that really gives me those 6 pack abs. I switched from high protein moderate carbs and moderate fat to a keto diet and was amazed. The fat just melted off, no cardio and no starving.

@@MarkGoodwin03 eggs are fine on a carnivore diet, some folks eliminate them due to allergy or gastrointestinal distress. Cheese is treated the same way, excepted unless you find issues with it and choose to no longer consume it.

I think calories still matter. If you overeat on keto, you will not loose any fat. Remember insulin is never zero, fats too have marginal affect on insulin. Body can only do one thing with extra energy, store it!

I trust Dr Berry because he’s not making money from recommending any particular product, but on this video I noticed the link to the meal plan is an affiliate link. I actually think that is fine as long as it’s disclosed. This is an excellent video and I can say that I’ve found doing 16/8 very easy to stick to with Keto coffee in the AM. Started out at 12/12 and worked my way up to 16/8, with a few days of 20/4 that just crept up on me. When I do eat, it’s high quality real food and plenty of it. Used to eat lots of protein bars and similar. Not so interested in them anymore but I’m always eager to eat my eggs, healthy smoothies, and protein/veg dinners! No six pack in evidence, and there won’t be for a long time, but I feel much better. Thanks Dr B!

Thank you Dr. Ken. I can't believe how much diffence you made in my life. Im losing my belly fat slowly . I look great ,feel great. My blood pressure is down from 140/90 to 95/65. Im waiting another 3 monhs to have my blood works. Unfortunately all my doctors are drug pushers. I had 4 meds prescribed to me that gave me the worst side effects ever, and one of them landed ne at the ER. I'm working on my diet/ lifestyle, no sugar, no carbs. But i have to work on my intermittent fasting. But over all you have been a life saver, my deepest gratitude to you.

Truth! I was formerly a 240 lbs powerlifter with a very strong core. However, my abdominal muscles were not visible due to body fat. I’m now 54 and 200 lbs with a descent six-pack. Having a six-pack was not my goal as I had one most of my younger life (boxer 9 years), but the result of adopting a KETO eating lifestyle along with intermittent fasting and adding HIIT training. Great content as always!

I have lost 40lbs in the last 10 months. But I want to get off the medicine and get back to doing the things I like to do. As strange as it my sound, I am fairly active but I have many things I used to do that I want to do again. Today is the first day of the rest of my Life. Again, Thanks

Thanks, Dr. Berry! I have already lost just over 50 pounds, but I still need to lose a significant number of inches off my waist. It's very disappointing to realize that after six months of progress, I'm still in the danger zone for heart disease, premature death, etc. But this video has motivated me to go back to intermittent fasting and really get back to the principles that helped me so much when I first started this journey. Your KZbin videos are always a great encouragement.

Hey Dr. Berry, First and foremost, I want to tell you; GOD Bless you for what you're doing through your KZbin channel. I was inspired to try the KETOGENIC DIET after watching one of your videos on how to begin Keto and also your video on Cheap Keto my wife and I started to adapt all of what you have been saying in your vids, in tandem with he advice Thomas Delauer puts out on his channel. That being said, I've lost 40 pounds since the 1st of January, 2018. And my wife has lost 20 pounds within the same timeframe. Also, in that time I've managed to get my Type 2 Diabetes completely under control to the point that soon, I may not need to use my Metformin anymore. However, during the past two months, we have plateaued HARD! Not sure how to get it going again. My wife and I desperately want to lose this weight. We have not changed the way we've been eating since we first began Keto. We're not sure what we're doing wrong. We've even been intermittent fasting for as long as we've been on Keto. Now we haven't been working out. But, we didn't work to begin with and we're able to produce the results that we have thus far. The reason I haven't been able to workout is because I've had Sleep Apnea for 10 years and have slept with a C-PAP machine every night since I became aware of it. Up until 2 years ago I would wake up in the morning, revitalized and ready to take on the world. But, for the past 2 years, I've been waking up exhausted. So, I have no energy to workout when I get home from work. Now I have been given a new C-PAP machine, and still I'm waking up in the morning feeling exhausted, like I haven't slept. Please HELP! Ken, you've been a Blessing to me and my family! Please keep your vids coming. GOD Bless you and yours.

One thing that's hard to overcome today is that people use food as recreation. How often do your friends say 'come on, let's go eat something'? Happens all the time. Very easy to fall into that habit. To make matters worse, everyone orders dessert! Thank goodness, my parents very rarely provided dessert after a meal when I was growing up, usually only on holidays. I don't want to avoid socializing, but I'm careful to order a healthy meal, skip dessert, nice cup of black coffee does me fine! Simple things like asking them to hold the home fries at the diner, or asking for a small portion of rice or whipped potatoes (or skip the carb altogether) instead of french fries with a meal can make a difference. Thanks Doc, keep up the good work!

I was 137 kg (300 lbs+) that is when I said ok this is enough ... right now I am 268 it took about 3 months of keto ... I plateaued but now I am incorporating more IF into the keto. my goal is to reach below 92kg (200 lbs) (I am 191 cm or 6'2"). Keto and IF really works I feel much better now and I can see the improvement that is why I want more of it especially because of the health issues and avoiding diabetes in the future.

Dr. Berry - Thank you for an excellent, supportive video. People need support to eating in a way that their bodies are supported - AND they need to learn patience. Most people have been advertised to expect immediate results - just as they were basically taught to eat a carb/chemical/gluten/sugar diet from after WW2 on - and to eat multiple times daily as healthy - as well as to snack on the billion dallar a year profit snack industry - - - From WW2 on - Pharma and Big food planned all of this - My fatehr was high up military that helped to plot this horror that we have now - They knew what they were doing and felt the North American public was too stupid to figure it out. It is doctors like you - who are dedicated to bringing out the truth and to supporting the public through education that will help to turn this tide of deliberate misinformation. I have seen many people over the last few years discover Keto - then Intermittent fasting - - for weight loss - then see symptoms of major health condirtions start to reverse - so that with their doctors they have to start to limit and then even, go off medications as they don't need them anymore. It is where many are then starting to wake up - and they need the information that you and other doctors are providing. For years in the seventies and eighties I ate one meal a day - low carb - and even though I was at a healthy body weight - I had my doctor friends and colleagues freaking out - worrying that I was eating wrong and insisting I eat whole grains and 3 meals a day - - It literally broke my health as I had underlying undiagnosed Celiac, Dermatitis Herpetiformis - - and not being able to take any antibiotics from birth on - but being born early - I had COPD and after 20 years of having it under control after pediatricians and doctors giving me till age 35 to have emphasemia, etc - - I went from controlled, good health and no bronical attacks eight times a year and no pneumonia - to getting very ill for years - - Going off grains and eating pastured eggs, etc. turned it all around in 2005 - - I don't blame the doctors BUT it shows how much many don't know and thus their "guidelines" and pressure - misunderstandings and lack of education can lead to serious health challenges. So - THANK YOU for helping so many - - You are a blessing!

I've been doing IF for a few months now, no more than 3 months. I haven't really changed anything else in my diet, except cutting back on sugar a little bit. I can say for certain that my bodyfat percentage has gone down a bit. Now I did not expect to immediately go to very low BF% in three months of not that active IF... but even then, the results are noticeable. It's definitely something I'll keep doing and probably expand on in the future.

Dr. Berry. What do you think of bone broth? I am making it (in a crock pot) and using it for delicious low carb soups (since I can't eat sandwiches for lunch, now I usually have homemade soup with some vegetables) Is the thing about collagen and gelatin medically correct? At 71, I've lost a ton of weight following Keto IF. My arms and legs are pretty toned but no six pack or anything close at this age. The skin elasticity just isn't there. But I'm healthy and wearing tiny clothes!!

DR Berry. I have been watching your videos for almost a year and implemented what you say here 9 weeks ago. I atarted at 273 lbs and I am 5'11". Today is day 71, 2 months and 11 days. I am down to 238 lbs, a loss of 35 lbs keeping my carbs net at about 20 g. I do not count calories because healthy food has so few calories anyway. I am not hungry. My doctor took me off of oune BP pill a few weeks ago but my BP is averaging around 100 / 65 so I am going to ask to lower another and so on. I am no longer scared or in denial of a BP cuff. I used to kill myself doing cardio at the gym almost every day before covid and never got below 240 while still resteicting calories and being hungray. No more sleep apnea and no more GERD. This is actually very easy. All it takes is time and it comes off. I cannot wxpress how much b etter I feel now. Also, as you said in another video, I am one of those people who needs to be more carnivore because I don;t digest beggies well. Carnivore is easier, and I eat a lot of fish and shellfish also. Sorry for the Epistle here but for snyone who reads this, there is no exaggeration. Also, as Dr. Berry has said, most almost all MD's / GP's have no clue about nutrition and weight loss. They will throw a pill at you when you need to take responsibility for your own hwalth. Keot / CArnivore is the ONLYT way to go. Thanks. Also, I'm not 29 yo any more, I am 69 yo so anyone can do this.

Great video! Your videos have been very helpful for me the last 4-5 months. Keto diet plus intermittent fasting have been really effective for me. Key for me is to make sure I eat enough fat, when I do, the fat melts off!

I really enjoy your videos! I started out just doing low carb and have transitioned into keto with IF. It's been 2 months since I first started, and I've just now lost 23 pounds. I might have a "six-pack" in the year 3000. lol But at least I'm heading in the right direction. And my doctor has already had to reduce my diabetes meds and blood pressure meds. So there are other benefits beyond the six pack for me. :-)

It's technically true that if you eat fewer calories than you burn, then you'll lose weight. It's just that the number you want to eat and the number you burn are both controlled by hormones, so it's much smarter to pick a diet with the hormones in mind than to try to circumvent them.

OK, I am 65, and about three years ago I was diagnosed with Atrial Fibrillation. Me, wait, I am suppose to be healthy! My cardiologist wanted me to take a few drugs for the rest of my life. When I read up on the long term side effects, I said NO way. I did not know about the Ketogenic diet and had done intermittent fasting for a few months. It did not work because after the time was up, I ate large quantities of everything. After my AF diagnose I wondered what I could do other than take drugs. I knew that sugar and processed carbohydrates were bad for the body, so I started a program of eating no sugar, bread, or pasta. At the time my favorite snake was peanut butter toast. I gave it up. I started snacking on tones of nuts throughout the day. Even with eating all kinds of nuts, the fat flew off! I lost 30 pounds in 4 months. My 501 Levi’s really did not fit well anymore! Then I started intermittent fasting the right way. Both my daughter and wife thought I was crazy, and that I did not know what I was doing! They were mad and said I was too skinny! Two months latter my daughter is doing intermittent fasting herself, and telling me how great the ketogenic diet is!😉😂😂 At about this time I was also learning the value of a ketogenic diet on the internet. My daughter and I started comparing notes on both IF and a ketogenic diet., and putting into practice the things we were learning. Then I challenged myself to do one-hundred push-ups a day. Holy Smokes there, for the first time since high school, was something of a six pack! Best of all my atrial fibrillation was virtually gone! The other day I did a hundred jumping jacks in a row, and I was not even out of breath. I was surprised! My doctor said that my cholesterol ratio was like that of an Olympic athlete! That surprised me! I am writing about my story and experience to drive home the truth of what Dr Berry is telling you. The power to improved health by a low carbohydrate lifestyle can not be over emphasized!

Go ahead and work out, especially towards the end of a fast. Once you've consumed what you want of your fat reserves you can focus on bulking up if that's your aim. Everyone I know that's gone through the Keto/Fasting process is typically more than happy with the definition they achieve with just consuming the fat that covers the muscle

By having a smaller window of which you're eating, aren't you essentially reducing the amount of calories you consume even if you consume a large amount of food, aren't yous still likely putting you in a caloric deficit? Then it's arguable that it's still the calorie deficit that's causing the weight loss - which is also the argument which holds the most evidence.
