i quit hsr because the turn based style wasn't for me as it felt restricting and most of the time, I couldn't chose which character to switch to and there was an insane amount of powercreep, and hsr would(I think?) also buff the enemies, which made it feel like I had to pull the latest characters to defeat them easily and clear endgame content(I also heard of some hp inflation thing going on in hsr?). Also the excessive yapping and the story made me quit because I didn't find it very interesting myself. Farming also felt rlly long and dragging for me (in genshin, I usually farm domains in co-op, but even then when I did solo, it was pretty easy).

@skirnchskirnch Were the opposite. HSR takes me 5 mins tops to Farm and do the Dailies. I stopped Genshin because it was so tedious. Farming Character Materials (Talent and Ascension) was taking ages running across the map. Waiting 2 days for the plants to respawn (idk if this is still the case) Yes. You may/really need to pull for characters in HSR but in that same concept the game is really generous with it's premium currency and freebies. I do admit to spending a bit but unless you need to fully complete the endgame contents to enjoy it then its fun to mix and match teams. Also Genshin storytelling has gone down for me. The world of Teyvat has it's own laws and rules but they're trying to squeeze and fit in so many concepts in one world that it gets overwhelming. HSR storytelling is great for me since each planet has its own laws and rules that makes the storytelling feel great for me. Each planet is completely different and for the most of it separate from the last. Bonus is that in HSR, I don't have to listen to and just follow Paimon move the plot and narrate for the traveler. HSR also implemented different POVs so you can be the MC but also experience a completely different perspective from another person. Anyway that's my take. Also the lack of Eng VAs is a let down for me. Hope they resolve it soon

Panacony was a mood, i was not in at all and took a long break and when i felt for more HSR went back and enjoy it a lot. Forcing yourselves is never a good thing but at the same time im know content creator they need to rush more to release content.

That's the same mistake I did. I was kinda forced to complete the whole new quest on day 1 of the patch because there'll be lots of spoilers in every social media. Now, I decided not to speed run these quests & not to touch social media until I finish the quest. By doing that, now I don't feel burnt out. Welcome back to HSR!!

5:20 - I think, what they mean is that in Amphoreus there will be this grandiose epic (as in Odyssey) while in Penacony we just had an average story as usual and there were fun stuff like playing as Hanu, Clockie, funny enemies.... In Amphoreus it will be all serious and lorewise sumer important but also we will have Mem and such so it will be prob also fun at times. I think it is a good time to come back (or for me sorta start because I started a few months ago).

Basically, this is written by Fanchuan(writer of Kolostein(Otto largely) and sea of Quanta) From my experience, there's more emphasis on the characters so the story being spread between different patches might mean particular character(s) per patch will be tackled as well as their stories weaving into the main Amphoreus experience.

I am glad to hear about this change of pace! I have watched you ever since... Well, ever since you made those "react to every Genshin trailer" videos, before you started getting into the game. You were always a positive part of the community ever since you joined. But that one time I was in your live chat while you were playing the Penacony quest, the entire experience was terribly unpleasant. Not only non-stop complaints about the story, and characters, but there was just an overall hostility about the stream. You got defensive and argumentative with chatters, and completely misconstruing people's words in the chat, turning everything negative. I was a bit shocked when you replied to a chat message I sent (which I didn't expect to be read tbh) in a very negative way. The entire stream was so unpleasant I actually didn't come back. I still watched videos here and there, but I felt so bad after being in that stream, I didn't feel like watching again. Being in that stream, and then later watching Asmongold playing the same quest, not only being immersed and paying attention to the story, but engaging with the questions the story sought to ask, it was day and night. Hearing you acknowledge these criticisms, and finding the root to the problem is a great relief. Not all creators are willing to listen, especially when the criticism is... harsh, to say the least. But it makes me very happy! You have been a beacon of positivity for years now, and I look forward to the new year, and a new HSR. Thank you!

Hi Bran, long time youtube lurker here breaking lurk status just for u lol. I am glad you took a break from Penacony, I was one of those people who also noticed you weren’t having as much fun playing Star Rail at that time. When you don’t have fun then it’s also not fun watching you so I am glad you took a break from it. When I saw the 3.0 livestream and they said that the main trailblazer quest will span 8 patches I thought “thats a shame Bran would have liked this.” Concerning endgame content, it’s fine not liking the structure of it. Also the meta situation isn’t as bad as you think it is. I am f2p by choice and been using Hunt March/ Serval/ Herta/ Xueyi/ Guinafen teams on several patches worth of endgame content (swapping depending on elemental advantages and gameplay buffs for that content) and been doing fine and getting 3stars. Don’t get me wrong I’m not saying it’s easy but that is what makes it fun. It takes a few retries to get used to the newest boss mechanic and then a few strategies and clutch crits here and there. I’ve seen a few of the teams you run in moc before and some of them aren’t as built to suit the content. This isn’t like Genshin where you can i frame and combo elemental reactions. You need to plan your skill points/ ults all the time to save you a cycle. And you have to keep in mind team synergy (some characters just don’t work well with others and some are surprisingly more flexible in teams.) Theres also multiple buffs every season that you can take advantage of. Endgame is supposed to be hard thats what makes it fun, if we beat it in one go then whats the point? That is just my opinion tho so take it with a grain of salt. Concerning March skin, I think it is fine that it’s for preservation path. The Hunt March already has a new outfit design so I don’t see a point to it. An option to wear it on any March path would have been nice but it is what it is. I am excited to know you are coming back to Star Rail for Amphoreaus, will you be catching up on the quests you missed or just going straight to 3.X quests? Will you be doing them offline or on stream? I hope you upload them to youtube so I can watch them as I am mainly a youtube lurker. The Luofu filler arc was nicely done imo so I hope you decide to play that. Sorry I yapped for a bit but I wanted to say my thoughts on the matter since I’m breaking lurking status anyway. I had the same issue Bran. I forsed myself to play Genshin when I got tired of it, just because I didn't want to miss rewards and events. It really made me hate the game when it wasn't it's fault at all. I stopped playing for a few months cuz I couldn't get back into it. I finally had time to give StarRail a try because of this and OMG it was fantastic! I now play both and I always make sure to play only the one I want to, when I want to, and I skip things sometimes. Getting a break from a game really makes you love it a lot more later.

Honestly, as much a I enjoy the Honkai series, and pretty much every hoyo game, I've stepped back a lot lately, i haven't done any events other than Genshin, ill just go in when i REALLY feel like playing and got nothing else to do (im still in 1.0 content in ZZZ lmao). And it's far more manageable for burnout control. If I miss some characters because of not farming then it is what it is. I also stepped back on content watching because it was starting to impact my work, I'm a terrible multi-tasker so watching streams so often was making me not productive at all, so now I'm mostly watching VODs here or on Twitch. *lurking intensifies*

tbh even with penacony's fillers they are still needed like sunday's filler is needed for version 3.0 to make sence and rappa's storyline is setting up the memovirus which will defo be used later in amphorous's story so even though there are fillers they feel needed for the story making the fillers actually impactful compared to genshin where the fillers are just side quests

6:30 I want to disagree with you here, cause I thought the same in Inazuma, I wanted more serious story patches about the word, but then I realized that one of the reasons I love Tievat and it's characters is because I can enjoy those moments of peace between the hard times, it makes the world feel more well paced and the adventure more organic, cause not every moment of your life should be plagued by mind-breaking moments and discoveries. A recent example is Mavuika's character when she can relax and be herself, and an old one wuth Cyno's character and bad jokes in the events after the arcon quest

This is what I was worried about when Penacony's story was out but you weren't streaming/uploading them because you were busy preparing for your trip to Japan It definitely felt like you were doing it to keep up with the KZbin algo and to make sure content was made and sure, that's understandable since that's what KZbinrs do, but I was sad that your enjoyment of Peakacony was hindered because of it Just play at your own pace, even Cy Yu does late reactions and playthroughs of Star Rail lmao, but as long as he isn't in a rush and he's still having fun

6:11 - I think, they'll do this in Genshin, too. Sure, Archon quests will last until they do, but in Nathan, too. We go to whatever region and it will be lore relevant. So I think, they will not have much filler patches. That said, even now, usually, Genshin filler patches were not as much of fillers as you'd think. E.g. Simulanka foreshadowed the whole Natlan questline

I relate to you, I also feel that Penacony is not for me, I also speed run the main quest and didnt do others. This new place Amphoreus looks so cool, now I'm sure to play HSR again.

In all Penacony was good but it also had a lot of moments where it dragged or it felt like a waste of time, or the structure wasn't good, like stuffing Sunday and Tingyun in the same quest rather then giving the girl her own character quest. I think HSR is better if you break it up over a week rather than going through the whole thing in one sitting. Amphoreus does look good, so hopefully they're improving.

HSR is definitely a game that is played in much smaller segments compared to Genshin since there’s not as much to do in HSR. Yes you can 100% all the areas and build characters but it doesn’t have the open world exploration like Genshin. Playing the game as much as you want is more important than playing it until beyond boredom. Also with the 8 banner system I feel like it’d definitely do well on Genshin. Considering how many characters it has and how many of them don’t get rerun in a long time.

8 banners, you can think of it as making money, or their way of allowing people to roll for more characters they missed, then having to wait like in Genshin, for someone like Shenhe, Rail is trying to not have that record i guess, of withholding many characters for a long time, as eventually there will be so many characters and not enough time to run new ones and old ones, so they're already beginning to bulk them and letting people choose, if you think they expect you to roll for every single one, you're crazy.

Not gonna lie, I'm really worried about the future of Honkai Star Rail. They are becoming really predatory and the powercreep is going to get worse. When takes so long to build a single character, is not funny that those characters are powercrept in just two patches. I'm thinking of dropping the game because is not fun to play anymore to me.

Always play only when you're feeling it, its a real shame to experience something special with a difficult mood. If stellar jades arent an issue, dont rush it, I've begun to notice that a lot of the story playthroughs are way more enjoyable and easy to digest if you split a patch between multiple playthroughs. Tried it for the first time for rappas patch and it was a lot of fun for me

I agree with Bran on The Herta looking like Herta cause there a youtuber that complain that The Herta look young and he expected her to be an old woman which in line with "Genshin/HSR player dont't read" cause it been mentioned that she managed to de-aged herself since version 1.0 when playing as Kafka and interacting with Herta picture. Like w-tf do people expect?
