I read the Warrior wiki and I looked down at the tree. Crookedstar was leader when Fireheart (star) was a warrior. Reedshine (who was alive with Mapleshade) gave birth to Shellkit (shellheart) and Shellheart was mother of Crookedstar. Firestar wasn't alive at the same time as Firestar

Here’s like a little theory or story I came up with thanks to this map, maybe once a couple moons,Starclan lets Mapleshades kits visit her in the dark forest. This is the best thing Mapleshades ever had, and she refuses to let them see the true horror of the dark forest. So she takes them to a hollow in the tree to tell them stories and keeps them safe. This is an awesomely sad map, everyone had such beautiful styles.

The familiar pale coat of the tom glimmered in the Dark forest dim and dying moon.Mapleshade even after all these years in total darkness would remember the stench of her ex mate, appledusk. Moons and moons ago the scent of his pelt would make her heart act like spooked sparrows, but now it felt as if dead leaves were scraping against a old infected wound. His pelt was as starry as a moonlit sky but the three small figures were shooting stars eating the shadows away. This was not the first meeting, though it felt as if it were by the amount of excitement she felt every time her old eyes laid upon the three wonderful bundles. Appledusk looked at her, his gaze still filled with distrust even after all these moons, he spoke, his voice as youthful as the day mapleshade tore out his throat that had been filled with broken love poems and shattered promises, "You know the deal, Mapleshade," He held out a paw in the air, one claw glistening from his pelt."One night a full moon, you receive our kits, you are able to hunt in starclan hunting grounds and you may sleep there aswell until i come to fetch them." Mapleshade, not trusting her tongue to lash the warrior with hate, nodded her head and watched as the kits did the same with their father, sharing tongues one last time as he turned and walked further into the bright forest, leaving the mother and her kits to share stories and wishes, hunting and playing together in ways they never could in the clans. For one night, Mapleshade tasted prey, for one night she felt safe, for one night, Mapleshade was with the three simple reasons she continued to fight for every scrap, every nest, every moon filled day.One night a moon, was why she fought to see her kits again.

I’m not one for crying, but this nearly brought me to tears. The overall demeanor of this project is so soothing and comforting, expressing how Mapleshade did several of her deeds just for her beloved kits without even showing the specific scenes in the MAP. Phenomenal work to each and every participant! I wasn’t able to fit all of my words into a few sentences before typing an entire essay; I hope I said enough, but whatever I didn’t, just know I am silently acknowledging all of what everyone did to make this possible!

Sorry for being late but here's context in a nutshell: Girl cat falls in love with guy cat and it's a forbidden relationship. Girl cat has kits. Guy cat cheats on her and then snitches on her. Girl cat AND kits are banished. Kits drown while they find a new home. Girl cat is shattered. Girl cat goes mad from grief and loss and kills the Guy cat and others who exiled her. Girl cat is eventually killed and sent to the cat equivalent of Hell. K that's the canon story basically but here's the video: Girl cat is sad in cat hell, kits come by sometimes and she loves them and is bittersweet. I cried sm at the end :((((

Mapleshade may be evil and though I don’t generally like her character, I still pity her. She’s a murderer yes, what she did was wrong and unacceptable, but she truly lost everything she loved. She lost her kits, the cat she thought she loved, and her clan. The main reason I don’t like her character is that when she died, she wasn’t truly regretful she was in the Dark Forest. I thought she’d want to be in StarClan where she could live with her kits, but no, she’s perfectly fine with where she is. I like this map, one, because it’s beautiful, two the song really tugs at my heartstrings and three, because we don’t see enough of this Mapleshade in maps or even the books. She’s mostly portrayed as a vengeful and dark character. I wish she showed at least some regret for failing to reunite with her kits in the afterlife.

Honestly, I think that’s why (or one of the reasons why) they went back and changed the Dark Forest. (They literally did this like right after the MAP came out in ALITM) They made it to where the forest itself immediately corrupts the cats, and begins to make them crave power or begin to give up, either or. I feel like they gave Maple one too many scenes for her to have just been there to be scary, and she really did sound like she was under its influence. When you take in just how many people voiced their concerns about the ending, especially people in the Tumblr and YT community, the writing team had to have noticed.

The reason she was more happy where she was after she died (I’m assuming), is because she got what she wanted. The death of the 3 cats she hated. Although she meant to kill Reddshine instead of Appledusk, Apple was like a replacement, and Apple hurt her more than anyone, so she was probably like “oh, ok cool”.

He killed a lot of cats, more than Mapleshade and still got to starclan, She didn't even get a trail like Leafpool and Squirrelflight did. Once Mapleshade died she was Automatically put in the Dark Forest without a good reason, the Dark forest wasn't ever talked about until the second series but was introduced offically by name in the forth series. If they knew about it from the start I think their lives would have been different, also the warrior code was broken when Oakstar bunished Mapleshade's kits along side her over personal feelings that shouldn't have been bought up towards her bunishment. Ravenwing as well was in the wrong for saying Mapleshade's kits was going to being death that didn't happen until after her kits died! If anything Mapleshade and her kits shouldn't have been bunished and should have been given a normal punishment towards Mapleshade and nothing towards the kits which could have been raised to hate their father. Mapleshade out of all the Dark Forest cats should have been given a second, she in general she should have been treated fairer by her clan leader and not banished, a banishment is for thing like Brokenstar, Tigerstar, and Darkstripe doings. Oakstar should have been reasonable and asked Ravgenwing if the sign was fully about Mapleshade's kits or not because than Ravenwing would have learned it was about that strom. Mapleshade wasn't treated fairly before she become delusional after her kits death, Appledusk also cheated on her while she was kitting. And the Erins did admit long ago that Mapleshade's fate was originally destined to be leader of Thunderclan but Oakstar being blinded because of his own feelings towards Appledusk ended up killing Kits, the medince cat, his own daughter, Appledusk, and even Maplehade herself, if he hadn't things would have been different.

Gorgeous! One of my favorite maps put out this Halloween. Maple has done awful things but I really wish she could have a chance at redemption, even if she does so begrudgingly just so she can be with her beloved kits again. I feel like it would start out as “Urgh let me just pretend so I can get into starclan and see my kits I’m really not sorry for what I have done” and eventually, very slowly. She would start to understand her actions and perhaps even feel remorse. Of course what she did was wrong and horrible, some people seem to think as a fan of hers I support her actions. Which I absolutely don’t, I just really want to see some character development for her. She’s manipulative, and cold hearted, but a change would be welcome and would honestly make for a great ark. (A super addition would be to short, and would rush this, making it seem forced. It needs multiple books to feel realistic) Lots of love, A bullied mapleshade fan

How could Appledusk step up as a father when he lost his kits because Mapleshade made them cross a river during a storm, knowing it wasn't safe for kits to cross. Instead of taking responsibility and defending mapleshade & his kits, he shut them out and called them all mistakes, and stood by as his former mate was threatened and thrown out from her clan & his own.

Mapleshade literally manipulated the narrative throughout the book and did mental gymnastics to make it seem like he was in the wrong. He admitted to being in a half-clan relationship, saying something along the lines of, "I know I made a mistake by meeting with Mapleshade," to which Mapleshade thought, "Mistake??" To imply that he was saying the kits were mistakes, which he never said. He said that he knew he had made a mistake after saying that he broke the code. Which shows he was, in fact, taking responsibility. The one who should've taken responsibility was Mapleshade. She got their kits killed, convinced herself that everyone except for her were at fault for what happened to the kits, and used that as justification for killing innocent cats.

I love the idea that the kits would wander out of StarClan territory into the Dark Forest to visit Mapleshade, and Maple would plead with the cats that sort of decide who should be let in to StarClan just to let her in to see her kits.

this was just gorgeous. the colors are so beautiful, and the lipsyncing was amazing! all the artists did so well. i loved all of the thumbnail entries, and the outro was so good!! the slight tweens and movements here and there add so much. i love seeing a gentle, positive map between mapleshade and her kits

I love this so much. It is so important to remember that while Mapleshade was horrible and a murderer, she was also a grieving mother. While it doesn't quite excuse her actions, it is something that seems to be forgotten, as she is only ever known for the bad shit she's done.

I feel like all the other Mapleshade maps mainly show how she was betrayed and how she got revenge, but this one is different in a sad, bittersweet way that I think reflects on who Mapleshade is and what she lost. The only thing she wanted was to love her kits and to be loved by Appledusk, and this map shows that. I was definitely crying by the end. Thank your for making this. ❤

I love how when the kits came out of the moon, the lighting changed from a very pink-redish tone to a cooler tone, and when they’re gone back to the moon, it went back to the usual pink-red light

I LOVE IT, LOVE IT, LOVE IT! 🧡😭😭 I always wondered why no one had dedicated a full project to Mappleshade's motherly side, so this is wonderful! I also wonder what her kids became in Starclan, and what they thing about their mother. Propably nothing great, but I do hope that they still remember her gentle side. After all, she tried to be as good of a mother she could to those tree when she was still sane. Thank you for a beautiful tribute to a side of her character that not many maps concentrate in

Omg it turned out so beautiful! I love maple shade and her kits so much and I feel this caught the side of mapleshade that isn’t shown enough because in the end she is just a grieving mother who lost her everything her babies her clan and her mate. She deserves so much better and I’m happy people see her as not just a killer or a monster, she wasn’t treated fairly and I think that if things had been different then she could have been an amazing mother or mentor in the future

This M.A.P is a work of art; those words are the least I could say to define this. The music chosen for this really shows what really went on inside of Mapleshade's head, the wholesomess is able to be felt through the screen as even I, and I'm sure many others could feel Mapleshade's maternal care and affection towards her kits. All and all this M.A.P was beautiful, it really makes you feel sorrowful for Mapleshade even though her actions in the books were cruel and twisted. Kudos to the amazing artists who really illustrated this in its fullness, well done!

This is one of the rare instances that a map has made me cry, but I have this weird condition lol where I only cry out of one eye Every other day, MapleShade waits by the edge of the dark forest, waiting for the familiar white glow from a StarClan cat. Once she sees the glow, she tears up and hugs her kits, the other StarClan cat watching for any suspicious behavior... MapleShade has accepted the fact that what she did was wrong, and because of that every other day she is aloud to see her kits.
