Shorn, you are not seeing the core Jamaican lifestyle. So far, based on your videos, you have only been taken to the ghettos, some country sides, and a small part of the tourist areas. However, you have not been given a tour of the core or mainstream, middle class Jamaican neighborhoods or the upper class neighborhoods. Keno needs to take you and Dee out of the hood and give you a tour of middle class neighborhoods such as Havendale, Meadowbrook, Arcadia, Barbican, Hope Pastures, Liguanea, Allerdye, Manor Park, etc, etc. He can also take you to one or two of the upper class neighborhoods, and these are only some of the areas in Kingston. Expanding beyond Kingston and it’s environs is a whole other world to experience. 99 percent of the homes have fences, gates, and so on. The neighborhood where you are now and the one you mentioned before are new developments that are mostly owned by Jamaicans living abroad and are used as air b&bs. Come back in two years time and you won’t recognize those neighborhoods. They will have fences, gates, upstairs, and a whole host of additions and improvements.

Waah gwaan Arwa!! As you're in a gated community, the individual houses will not have gates...same in the US. The chill spot in the community is called a club house. The climbing plant you saw on the wall is specie of green creeper (don't know the scientific name); it's not glued, it will climb whatever structure is closest to it, so it will cover that entire wall someday. Quick tip on Jamaican apples (otaheite apple), the darkest ones ate always sweetest.

All the houses in Jamaica are not what you are experiencing. You are seeing a very small portion of Jamaica. When you return to Kingston let them take you to more communities other than Trench Town. The Knutsford Express luxury coach can be booked online. You travel in comfort - air conditioned, WiFi etc. They travel to Kingston, Ocho Rios, Negril, Montego Bay etc.

Hi beautiful shorna. Gated communities are the ones that have a big main gate where there’s security and not anyone can enter without knowing who you’re going to. And for those who are living there have their gate code to enter.most of Jamaica houses are not like that. King should take you guys on a tour up in the hills of St. Andrew snd Kingston. Now that you’re in Ocho you should your mandeville and sourounding areas.
