As an Australian i would like to say a big F off to MatthewLarge. What a wanker (Aissie slang for someone who spanks the monkey a lot). Lots of love for you in Australia brother and if i ever see a resume on my desk of any Matthew ill be wary. Your booth is brilliant, even before considering the age. The problem with some of these tools is that they have likely only ever sprayed water based PPG shit, been given a Sata to spray with and maybe a Sagola/Devilbiss. Because "thats the only way you can spray water based", sheesh... They shoot the colour on their camera and spray the computer tells them, its never their fault. I recjon that was a great save brother, we had a gre import Nissan Altima pearl, camera picked it as a Toyota Pearl but was in reality halfway between them both, the young painter near had a stroke about, they learnt a lot that day.... F the trolls bro, you gomalrihjt in my book 😉💪😎. Have an awesome weekend 🤙

Lol I laughed at the water comment. I shot axalta water for years man. First the DuPont, than Cromax pro than spies hi tech ( same shit) Not my favorite but I made it work and the $ was good at the time. IMO, if I have to spray water side jobs nowadays I prefer axalta. Anyways. It was funny, even the reps are by the book, Sata 5000 29 psi (2bar) trust the camera, use your stat gun, 1.5 coats no more. Real world problems these guys had no clue and when I was in the shit I wouldn’t even call them. This is what the younger generation/trolls is learning and it’s sad. Just saying
@cocko1135
@cocko1135 Жыл бұрын
@@jimmycocks copy that, the reps aren't worth the effort when it comes to application/technique, if you hit a roadblock you just have to work out something by yourself (which is fine, I don't mind). I went to a PPG workshop/training block with PPG a few months ago and the application all changed, so even those boys are lost. Give a newer painter some solvent to play with and their eyes got to Dinner plates, some listen but most won't. It's sad, no sense of adventure.

Hey Triggerman, nice job. Old timer here. Been painting since the early70's. That color was always tough. A trick I learned was to remove the inner scuff plate on the top interior rocker sill where you open the door. You would match the color inside as it didn't have any pearl on it. Then once you had that, you would do your spray out of two through six coats of pearl and then a clear. Compare it to the car and pick the best one. Also, as a last resort for blending if color is way off you can use (ppg's 440) wax and grease remover and wash off the basecoat being able to start fresh at the front of door again. Take care.

You got it John, that was always the best way to start off with this color. Whether the kick plate or one of the shock towers always worked. The key to this color and GM’s WA8933, which was another beach of a color, was making sure your base color was on.

Trigger I have to commend you for putting this video up. It may not have been your best job in your eyes but this will help many guys that are struggling with three stage paint jobs or any paint jobs for that matter. You always come on and make them look so good and effortlessly It's good that you can show when something does not go so well and even better when you show how to correct it That's what I like about your channel You keep it all the way 100%. I have painted in smaller and real dirty booths even plastic nailed to 2x4's for the walls with dirt floor. This was in Michigan, during the winter with the heat on fly's would fall out the roof on the hood. No where else just the damn hood. You take good care of the booth you are using. Had my son painting for me and he would test is spray on the lights on the wall of the booth. That drove me crazy, after a few times, he had his ass in there cleaning the wall. Anyway, we work with what we have, I have been around for some time, started in 1965 and I will say, there are not many people that can do what you do.

I was always told that there is no such thing as a 100% perfect colour match and that painting is all about creating the illusion. This was a fantastic video, even for a professional painter to watch. You had to think on your feet and over come the task and that is what makes you a great painter NOT how clean your booth is. The trolls work in high end facilities where the companies employ them and pay 100s of thousands of dollars for the best booths🤑. These places are soulless places to work and they probably have a high turn over of staff because of it? That's why these trolls are so negative? 😒 Great content brother. Yes that's correct, I use a slow or extra slow reducer and avoid using a wet bed. And make sure your blend panel is prepped with i minimum of 800 nothing coarser than that.. Regarding color matching lights I’ve about had it. They are too small, expensive. A coworker and I Learned at paint school that you need a 5k color temperature light to actually see and he ended up getting some halogen tube bulbs that color temperature and temporarily hanging the unit sideways on the wall but there’s a few ways I would do it. It’s hokey but who wants to spend the money on a sungun with expensive replacement batteries bulbs etc. he spent maybe 40 or 50 and having the big long tube lights it covers a large area. If I had my way the shop lights would be 5k temperature too

I had the same issue with a Lexus tri-coat that had the yellow tint to it! It was a mess and a half as well! But I think what gets some painters in trouble is that they step outside the formula to tint with and they wind up chasing their tail all down the entire side of the car when it’s all said and done! Lol but that comes with experience and it appears that you definitely have that! I love the fact that you have used one gun to do the entire car! You will hear people bitch about that to and that just tells me that they are lazy on their cleaning lol I’ve used one gun several times I may switch out tips but in fact that would be the only reason I would have two guns to do a job the two of them would have different tips but that is the only reason! Goes to show you don’t have to have the expensive data jets for these jobs! Hey good work brother! And if people have issues with your equipment then keep spraying down under! Lol

Thank you Scott,, and yea man mixing outside the formula isooking for trouble And pretty much a suicide mission if you ask me That sounds like putting a Honda alternator on a Toyota Camry 😃🤣 any painter will face this issues It seems like this new generation of painters would just call their paint rep or start from scratch with a new variant and really don't know how to get out of trouble when they face it. I had a thought for split second to just trash the video but then I thought there's someone out there that could possibly learn from this. Thank you for chiming in Scott I appreciate it man. 💪🏼

Hey man I’m going back through your channel and watching videos so you will see me commenting! Thank you trigger man! @thetriggerman954
@thetriggerman954 7 ай бұрын
Well paint is paint so 1 layer or 6 layers some peel is going to be there regardless. You can put your last 2 coats down pretty wet to flow it out then put both coats of clear down equally as wet so that you'd have minimal orange peel

@@thetriggerman954 I always had worked on stuff mechanic wise but never had anyone teach me paint and body, so about 8 months ago I started to teach myself. 3 different paint shops and probably over $2,000 in base and pearl and I still didn't get a match on an 800J Sierra Denali. I finally gave up and I am painting the whole truck, but I have basically painted it twice already since about 3/4 of the base and clear I put down peels right off. I think just because I am putting it on to thick and not accounting for extended flash times just due to the number of coats I am spraying since I was spraying 4 coats of pearl to try to get that off white/yellow/almond color you are talking about. The 4 coats of pearl stuck, and I didn't want to deviate, but after all my basecoat (and epoxy primer as well lifted completely off), I think I am ready to learn my final lesson about spraying too thick of coats and not allowing enough flash time and finally be done with this thing. Everyone keeps saying this 800J is a mess and its basically impossible so it's nice to hear it is in fact impossible to match.
