Good to see Goldilocks getting a run in the booth too. Can you give warming the clear up a go and see what happens with it? You may hate it but maybe not..... I use a 1.2mm with my DV1-C for when I am spraying high solids and euro clears that are high solids because the 1.2mm will break up the thick clear better than a 1.3mm or 1.4mm nozzle. I use the 1.3mm and 1.4mm for medium solid production clears. I never tried Grant 7, i have heard of it and know its expensive but i would like to try it on one of my custom kandy or pearl paint jobs

As soon as the clear hits the panel it should basically be the way you want the finish to look. I don't care if it is the first coat or not it should replicate what you want to see. Your temperature and activator speed sounds correct, it may just be that you are putting it on heavy like you said. It is a thicker clear so putting it on too heavy could definitely cause solvent pop. We get accustomed to spring a lighter clear and putting it on heavy getting away with it then when it comes to something like this you have to adjust your spring style. But it sounds like you know what it is listen to your gut and ease up on them coats there 👊🏼💪🏼

@thetriggerman954
@thetriggerman954 Жыл бұрын
Benefits of sanding primer? 🤔 You gotta break that down for me man. Primer has to be sanded down before you can paint. So I'm not really sure if there's a benefit to it it's just something that needs to be done. It's kind of like what is the benefit of masking up the car before you paint it the benefit is you don't get paint all over the car. But if you going to a little more detail on what you're asking I'll try to answer it to the best of my ability.

@@thetriggerman954 you're right! to clarify, hand sanding vs machine to achieve a flatter result. thank you!
@thetriggerman954
@thetriggerman954 Жыл бұрын
@@HiFiInsider in my opinion you should "ALWAYS" finish your sanded primer with a DA sander with a soft interface pad. When you hand sand or block primer you will leave scratches in the primer that can shrink back and show up, so I like to use a soft pad on the DA after with either 400 or 600 grit to get those scratches out. The soft pad on the sander prevents you from changing the form of the bodywork that was repaired. I hope that helps

Why did you rub your bare hand on it before you started spraying?

I like to feel my vehicle before I spray. Lot of the old school painters from my generation did this. Of course not have eaten greasy wings before doing so 😉

That's the way the owner tells the prepper to set it up. And that's the way I have to paint it.

@@tedc9306 primer 320 or 400 to start depending on primer texture then 600 to finish off the primer. I'm trying to figure out a way to include more prepping videos for you guys thing is we have a prepper here at the shop and that's their job but I definitely plan to include some prepping priming videos soon even if I have to do someone else's job just to show you guys the right way to prep these cars and make your paint job better and easier.

I'll be watching in the meantime I like the way that you narrated how the prepping was done even though you didn't show it you still explained it and I was able to pick it up I just had another little couple questions to go with it
