Never apologise for being honest. We need more vloggers like you man. Movieworld needs people to stand up and tell them how it is. Besides that theme park has being like this for years now. I rarely visit that park maybe other than to walk around and try to get a ride in on Wild Wild West. I prefer going to parks that truely do cater for their customers and not themselves ie Dreamworld or even Seaworld. Just my two cents here.

I stood up and told it like it was on Warner Bros Movie World's Facebook page and I got attacked and abused by people who worked there ... then I was dropped off their page. Such a professional thug attitude! It seems they can't handle criticism. They are nothing but a money hungry corporation more interested in ripping off customers and not delivering an acceptable product. They really need to learn how overseas theme parks operate. I will NEVER go back to Movie World again.

As a local,I can confirm this is normal at MovieWorld. It’s the most popular park in QLD,and most definitely the longest waiting times. It’s beyond ridiculous. I rode the wicked witch for the first time yesterday,and my experience was similar to yours. I waited in line for 50 mins before they told us the ride is closed because of rain. Rain? It was a couple of drops and they closed the ride 😮. I decided to wait,and 10 mins later it reopened. Another 15 mins waiting and I finally got on the ride. I don’t know what the issue is with that ride specifically,while it closes for rain,the other rides are still in operation ( I mean the other ones that are actually open on the day,half the rides are usually closed for “maintenance”)

As someone who loves Theme Parks, and grew up on golden era of Theme Park sims. This looks like another case of profits over people. Wizard of Oz had a chance to offer some spectacular theming options, but instead leaned into a facade in the middle of a hostile space. It would have been very easy to put several circular concrete garden beds in the entrance space to the world, and have seating hanging off of them. They could have been planted with potted colour, which is cheap as chips and very hardy in QLD weather. The long and boring queue could have replaced the hostile fencing with a painted mural, and the flooring space with gold paint and a stencil to emulate the yellow brick road. On the side facing the ride the garden beds could have been elevated slighty to impede the view of the drainage system and rocks. Again easy to fill with some colourful native, a cuphea would provide ample colour, is low maintence, and would not grow to a height that would affect the ride. A simple awning could have then been added, and some fans brought in, too cool guests as they wait. If they really wanted to have some fun, put a few flying monkey at different points of the queue as a photo op. In the overall scheme of things, these are not huge costs, they are low maintence, the plants especially help reduce the heat island affect, increasing guest comfort, and have the added bonus of something to look at other than your phone. I could say more, but all this to say, your review was fair, unbiased, and you shouldn't apologies for an honest review.

Yeah shade, maybe some water misters up above head height in the outside queue area for the really hot days to keep ppl cool Surely you would want to prioritise guest comfort in the peak summer school holidays season for families waiting in long queues for family rides ?? I went to MW on Sunday. It was such a hot day and the queue for Flight of the Wicked Witch was the longest I've ever experienced at a theme park in my life. They were obviously doing it on purspose as there was no need to take that long to dispatch guests. Even after every guest in the previous ride had left the presinct the gates wouldn't open but until a few minutes later. And not only that, they were also training and supervising new operators at the expense of our endless waiting time in the sun. They walked so incredibly slowly to check the seatbelts making people very impatient. Many o them simply gave up waiting and left the queue midway. Others couldn't stop complaining loudly. It probably took about 8 to 10 minutes per ride, which is obviously not acceptable. I didn't mind the music; the theaming was ok, but it seemed like they ran out of time (or money) to finish adding details that would've make it look great. The ride itself is fun, but thrill seekers will not be impressed. Kansas Twister had a way shorter queue, but the ride itself is so underwhelming I would say it's just for kids. The management is doing such a lousy job. They do have enough stuff and good rides that could definitely provide the best experience, but they choose not to.

I think it is evident that they slowed everything down to make people buy the fast tracks, which are super expensive and fast tracks are single passes for single rides. It's definitely a tourist trap. Weekends are so busy, that a lot of people resort to buying the passes. It's definitely making them more money, but it's not a sustainable strategy; in the long run, people will simply stop buying tickets and their greedy business model will end up costing them more.

It's astounding to consider in this day and age that they hadn't already put benches for people to rest or have adequate shade. I suspect there was a ramped path that was a little difficult to see in front of the Royal Palace? It's also a slapped together representation of the Palace. I suspect as time goes on we will see many fans of the movie comment on videos about it. The entire thing appears to be something that was great on paper, but along the way hit hurdles and time constraint or budget challenges maybe? It SCREAMS of short cuts , it really does. This is a Major Theme park after all ! 🤷‍♀ They probably hit their target for 80% of it then everyone knocked off early and they called it a day ! (This happens when corporate/money minds have priority over artistic creative minds) it sadly lacks the magic this space deserves.

No need to apologise mate, your review on sounds like movie world down to a T, i remember we went there once in 2020 and all their rides were down for maintenance except for 1. they still charged full price entry though. i agree with you on all the points you raised on this and i am glad someone is making this video to tell it like it is. no need to sugar coat things.

Movieworld don’t give a rats about the guest experience, they’re laughing all the way to the bank on your dollar. I have visited over 40 theme parks worldwide and can honestly say that the operations and procedures at movieworld are amongst some of the worst I have ever seen. The staff are incredibly slow, and often very uninterested and unenthusiastic, however I believe this stems from the top. Management! Over crowded, disrepair, uninterested in the guest experience. Lucky if you get half the rides available on any given day, not uncommon to have 2 hour waits for a family ride? It boggles the mind. The bit that confuses me is that this issue has been getting worse for a few years now, yet people continue to show up in droves every day to this park, can anyone help me understand why this is? I would love to see movieworld return to its glory days, but current management will never get it there.

I'd love to be a project manager there as it has so much potential. My guess is because it is publically listed company, its profits over people attitude. Even if there were people who wanted to make a positive impact, my guess is their hands would be tied. Even TopGolf has gone downhill since launch, but when you operate in a non-competitive market like Australia, there is not a lot of incentive to compete.

No problems when an older rollercoaster goes down. But something so new should be pretty reliable.

Newer roller coasters can sometimes have teething issues. It's pretty common for some of the sensors and logic computer operations to have a few glitches early on, or for things to need adjustment to get the ride working reliably in regular operation. But it's certainly frustrating, and with a relatively common ride model like a Vekoma Family Boomerang, it's certainly eyebrow-raising to have an entire day out of operation so soon. Going down during the day and needing adjustments is one thing. Not being able to operate for a full day is another.

I kinda agree with you man. Every time I've been to a Village Roadshow park the operations have been unbearably slow except for ONE LUCKY DAY on Superman Escape where the ride crew were absolutely sending those trains out every couple of minutes. I also tell the crew once I'm on ride that they are doing well, if they're doing well. Safe to say I usually don't say anything to the ride operators 😂🤣

We were there on the 9th of January (25) We didn’t go past the big green room because we didn’t realise there was more to it - we weren’t going on the rides, just waiting for our friend’s son to go on one. He gave up waiting for the ride ( he has autism) and the witch ride was closed. It was hot and you are right about the lack of seating. The best part was the actors coming out in costume. Do they deliberately make queues in order to encourage people to buy the “fast ride - skip the queue passes?”

Well MovieWorld does have the better coaster line-up plus Australia’s only flume ride - when they’re running and when they are efficiently despatching trains - spoiler - which is almost never. Dreamworld has the far superiors line up of flatrides (which wouldn’t be hard since MW has just one) and some good coasters and generally outstanding operations. That’s why DW is the only park for which I buy a season pass. MW will be dreading the next DW coaster announcement.

Honestly the only reason I even go to Movie World when I visit Australia now is because of good memories of Wild west falls... The rest of the park is just a disappointment, went from being the best on the GC, to honestly the one I have the least fun at.

Man, we had such a similar experience on our Gold Coast trip last week. Really disappointed with both Movie World and Sea World. Superman went down early in the week before we got a chance to get on, I wonder if we were actually there while you were filming this! 😅 Much the same experience on Wicked Witch for us as well, over an hour in line and left feeling quite disappointed overall, the wait time really killed it for us. Same with Green Lantern as well. Superman didn't go back on for the entire week, we even tried a quick last minute visit before having to leave and we were told it had gone down unexpectedly with no idea of a reopening time. We're really wondering whether a Village pass is going to be worth our time and money next time we visit. Really disappointing because we really do enjoy DC Rivals, Superman and Leviathan. Dreamworld was so much more enjoyable.

I totally agree with your assessment of MW operations. I am a passholder and the last few times I have been, I have managed to get 2, maybe 3 rides in on a full park day. The dispatches are laughable. They will have a full queue, over an hour wait, and still run DC on one train. Typical half-assed Aussie customer service. Take your money and from then, don't give a s**t. I won't be renewing my pass.

Who failed to consider placing yellow Bricks along the walkway? To go through the poppies and haunted forest, you need to take the yellow brick road. Speedforce is simply a halfpipe? I guess the ride came before the theming.

TNT in Victoria (which is the same Vekoma SFC Layout) dispatches their trains wayyy faster than wicked witch. That is completely embarrassing especially for Movie World Standerds

I went there late Jan around the same time as you, and I completely agree. FOWW dispatches were horrible, and the no shade really messed me up. The first impressions were so good, and then it all just went out the window

Should be Movie World apologising mate. And i get it, you want to show the best, but i think vlogs like this are important. People need to know about experiences like this, because if i were coming from outer state, had one day and that was it, id be PI$%ED! Of course the weather is a factor, and there can be unforseen technical issues. But theres not excuse for poor operations, or making folk stand for hours in blistering heat, with no shade or seating, only to close the ride. Sod that for a game of soldiers. Research can help plan, but content like this is invaluable to travellers.

I believe rides "go down" for maintenance so much because they don't have enough staff to man or operate them. Honestly, who'd want to work for a money grabbing company that doesn't give too hoots about their customers? Imagine what the poor staff are subjected to!

Man o man, our dusty old wood coaster at CGA The Grizzly has by far the most horrendous dispatch times I've ever seen, around 8 minutes minimum (I've timed as long as THIRTEEN), but cause their trains are weird and the lap bar has its own seatbelt. These people on Wicked Witch have NO excuse. Often times it seems like its a combination of impractical operation steps (the waiting to open gates and op only seatbelts) and management and often times operators not giving a flying (monkey) fuck about dispatches cause unfortunately they get paid the same if they put out 100 people or 1000 people per hour.

I wonder if you went on the same day as me (a thursday a few weeks back). Was there at rope drop, rides immediately closed due to weather concerns. The sun was showing through gaps in the clouds! Wixked Witch ran painfully slow, and often closed due to weather, and Kansus Twist wasnt running. Wait times for almost all rides was 2 hours by 11am. Horrible operations.

Went to Movieworld 2 weeks left after an hour. 2 trains running on Superman 7 minute dispatches. The place is terrible. Feels like no one wants to work there. Went to Dreamworld straight after and it’s night and day difference in every aspect, staff, operations, cleanliness, theming etc

Your disappointment is exactly how I felt the last few times I went. Is why no passes bought in the last 3 years. Took my nieces to Universal Studios in Japan at the end of 2023 and much more enjoyable.

For me, I could care less that the two vekoma coasters used for the wizard of oz area are clones. That they may look nice but don't really stand out at all. However, the "burning in the sun" and "we have these areas themed, but they are only walk through, now stand here in nothing for ages" is total nonsense. The atrocious operations. Employees will be half-asleep at 9pm in Florida, USA at "Freedom Flyer" on weekends when the line actually fills up and they will get you on within a half an hour. This was b4 the newer trains which have helped namely because they generally lock/don't set off false issues better. Also how do you do worse in operations than the Phoenix rising at Busch gardens Tampa (a coaster that has no reason to have one train) is beyond me. When I first saw this new section existed, I was thinking "I wish parks with other warner bros properties would do areas like this." So much for that, it's the same old disastrous nonsense that any other six flags or cedar fair or warner bros themed park (except for the one in spain) do like they have their own book of "how to fail 101."

Totally agreed, but just one thing, Kansas Twister is a clone of the one prior dueling Family Boomerang. It's a clone of Tweestryd at Wildlands Adventure Zoo in the Netherlands.

Then again Tweestryd is better themed and has more fitting colors so maybe that's what really threw me off. Thanks for the info!

I’ve been weary of movieworld for quite few years now. As soon as they raise the price for a single day ticket passed $80. There’s not enough to do. They make you wait in the long lines because you’d probably leave the park otherwise. It’s actually insane. from a business pov, they should have closed down the outback spectacular, which I’ve not known a single person even mention, then moved the office buildings next to the park to the other side THEN actually expand movie world properly. The nerve to call themselves a world class theme park when they’re failing in every aspect

Of all the parks I’ve been to around the world, Movie World’s operations are BY FAR the worst. Now they’re compounding that with poor selection of ride hardware, insane choices for the park’s layout and sloppy theming. Why anyone goes and still pays top dollar I’ll never understand!

Everyone is taking this quite seriously. Yes, the area could be a little more detail oriented or immersive, however, the park is clearly on a journey to rebrand itself in the wake of DC becoming irrelevant. This area replaced an already lacklustre and outdated precinct, giving us two rides to replace one. Yes, that may seem like a bad idea initially but I really enjoyed it. Once scooby doo is reopened, and the DC rivals precinct is reassigned to something else, the park will most definitely move forward to a more stable ownership. This area is not as important and revolutionary as people expected it to be. Doesnt mean i didnt have fun there. If you think movieworld will move towards less thrill ride based attractions, you may be wrong, but unfortunately in this climate, im afraid that may be the only attraction theyre interested in at this point. Things could always change.

Unfortunately I was never excited for the Wicked of Oz area for Movie world , I know I’m very spoilt living right next door to Movie world, but I’ve never been a fan of the movie really and I honestly don’t think it suits Movie worlds atmosphere, my opinion obviously
