I was blown away by this when I first heard it! 💥🔥 This is a band who have been writing their own songs since they were young teenagers 12 years ago. They are well established musicians and songwriters. This band was not put together by a bunch of producers to make an all-woman kid band. These young women did this on their own. That's the first reason that I was shocked by this cover. They don't need to do a cover but they did for the sheer artistry and respect of the song. The second and most important reason was how amazingly they covered this so so well! Pau on the drums! With such technique and muted finesse was gorgeous!💥 Ale on the bass intricately playing the melody, rhythm and foundation of the song in such complexity!💥 And Dani's vocals! Nothing more needs to be said, she knocked this out of the park with her intense emotion and feeling! 💥

I think they did a great job covering this. I went back and listened to the original and like Dany’s voice better (TBH Alannis’ voice sounds more whiny to me), plus as usual she is playing guitar at the same time. Ale slayed the bass line as usual, and don’t know if you noticed Pau playing with brushes for the first time. 😎👍
@bigfan007Ай бұрын
Agreed, it is an entertaining, quality cover. Ale's bass lines were particularly enjoyable, as were Dany's vocals and Pau's cool grove. Is this the first time we have seen Pau playing with a brush? It is a tribute to their musicianship that they can seamless change to a different musical style.

Damn Dany is really belting this one, Pau is a bad ass with the sunglasses and Ale is chilling and holding down the groove with her funky bass riffs. Alanis does have a unique voice which is not to everyones taste, but that consideration aside, I thought that Dany's ability to exude so much passion in her live performance is something Alanis could only achieve with the aid of an impactfuuly produced music video. Like many singers, Alanis sings with her eyes closed. Dany sings with eyes wide open and those eyes are something else.

LOL Their mom was probably in the studio with them. They don't swear in front of her... well there was a couple of times in Consume.It's either that or Sirius XM wanted them to modify it for daytime airplay. IDK if Pau's range extends high enough to hit the same notes as Dany does on this. She strains at the high notes in Revenant. I agree, it would be interesting, though. Doing covers like this... if it increases their exposure to new audiences I'm fine with it. I don't foresee them becoming a cover band, but they have proven here that they can do one every now and then. They love creating thei own stuff too much, and they are damned good at it. They all killed it, though. Pau doing the shuffle beat and using a brush at times. Ale covering the original basslines that Flea did in the studio version. Dany's guitar is spot on as well. Ths proves they could be a backing band for any solo singer. That might make for a cool collab, but I don't foresee them doing anyof that in the near term.

It seems like to me that, these ladies are masters at doing covers whether it's dany by herself or Pau by herself or all of them together, like Pau did Creep justice, Dany did Halestorms Break-In beautifully, Dany also did a cover of Celine Dions My Heart Will Go On which was recorded on a cell phone in a stairwell from what I understand and she killed it, even though the audio could've been better. And then they re-imagined Enter Sandman and completely killed it. And the many others they've done.

I watched this a lot yesterday! I was a huge fan of *Jagged Little Pill* when it came out. I actually think The Warning makes *You Oughta Know* more accessible than the original, due to the sound of the band and the "clean it up for radio" line changes. Dany's vocal interpretation is a little more "scorned girlfriend" believable, while Alanis original had more rage and spitefulness. Ale just sizzles with a funky jazz fusion wrapped all around that melody, and Pau sizzles right there with her. Both are pretty laid back here, letting Dany take the spotlight. Musically, this is very different from what they did on their last two albums. I like the clean guitar! The arrangement is terrific.

Was Dany Alanis?? Oh no. Dany didn't have the personal feeling that Alanis experience who she was singing about. So that comparison stops there. Just like Warning's song *"Stalker"* (from QotMS). It was all on Dany's shoulders. No backup vocals to help. No harmonies from her sisters. It was all on Dany. And she nailed it. Would Pau be able to sing this version of *"You Oughta Know"??* I would say no. But if Pau played an ballad acoustic piano version. OMG then hell yeah. Heard this cover around 20 times & I love it each time. This cover will be in my Top 10 of favorite Warning songs. Reason it's so good. You get to a point where you just sing along with Dany.
