We seriously cannot BELIEVE we just spent the last few days chipping ICE out of the lake so we could access our waterlines...you seriously cannot make this up! 🤣 As frustrating and unbelievable as it was, it felt incredibly empowering that we were not only able to troubleshoot the issue, but we we tackled it as a family! This week, we sort of bounced around and talked about a whole bunch of different stuff, can't wait to chat with you all in the comments and hear that you think of this episode!

“Too Gay? Not gay enough?” What in the actually f***?! Seriously straight/gay people y’all got issues if that’s the kind of questions you are having. I’m with Todd. Someone is about to get cussed out for an issue that a company has caused. Why folks are complaining about content because it’s not what they want? Those folks need to take several seat. They have actually have an option.

I’m going to make comments for the butt hurt folks. I can’t seem to get past the “gay/too gay”. I got a question. Is their a quota or a ratio of gay wet are suppose to be? I been gay a long ass time and I’ve read the handbook. Ain’t s*** in there about it.

I started watching them (Foxes Afloat ) from day one! And LOVED all the knowledge and history I learned from them! They are also the cutest sweet guys. And talking about depression on top of all of that takes guts to put out there in the universe! I just KNOW that they have helped many people who also struggle with the same issues. I loved watching their new boat being built , it was so cool to watch them have it put in the water. ( although I was a nervous mess, like sit on the edge of my seat! ) And now, we are STILL learning, along with them, about their new surroundings and the history. AND the grass fire made my eyes leak heavily. But they were blessed to making it through. I also love the honey bees. ANYWAY…..so sorry for the novel. My point is don’t judge! I enjoy both channels ! As an American , wayyyyy down south, they are a breath of fresh air to me with all that is going on in the world. They all 4 take my mind to “Far Away Lands” and I love it all! ❤

I want you guys to know that you are loved. Ignore the idiots who bash you or say anything negative! You have your own reasons for doing what you do... it's your life, and I feel blessed to be a viewer that gets to spend time watching you. You're both so amazing. I just love you. You're so positive and upbeat. I love the comment about letting Squirrel be the queen of the house. That is hilarious. I have a cat named Bitsy Boo as well, and I just love her. I can see that you love yours. Your dogs are so beautiful. I love watching youtube videos when people really show how much they love their animals... like the care you showed when your pup had to have surgery, and then you lovingly helped your dog walk for so long. That to me is wonderful. When you said that you are best friends as well as a married couple; that reminded me of my partner Jeanie who passed away in 2006. We were like that. She was my best friend as well as my partner. We spent all of our time together just like you guys, and I wouldn't have had it happen any other way. Now she's gone, and I miss her so much... It gives me comfort to watch you guys. It makes me happy. So thank you for making your lives so public. I know that there are times when it is difficult, so I appreciate what you do. Forget the neigh-sayers. Both of you are amazing, and when I watch a video of yours; I feel like I am having a visit with you. ...like you could be my son or grandson. I find myself wishing I could make you some cookies, or some pie... or something. lol.... By the way I am in Mississauga Ontario and it is freezing here right now. I am in a wheelchair and don't go out very often in the winter. Take care. Love ya all. Jojo from Mississauga Ontario

We are blessed by your willingness to share. I wish I could give you a negative comment filter so you could just read the positive things. I live in a high altitude mountain pass with a wood stove as my primary heat. It is a private road and shoveling is required to maintain access to my house. Winter is no joke and you guys have been on a wild journey. Be proud of where you have been and where you are going. Blessings for letting us come along with you wherever you may go! Todd, you said, "... in 10 years, no one is going to know who Tyler and Todd are..." and added "...you can only watch people babble on a couch for so long." You and Tyler are far more precious than those statements indicate. Something you (possible) fail to realize is truly how strong and impactful your simple, candid observations are. You two operate in a world that, while at a distance, allows us to relate to you--understanding what you are experiencing, your joys, your disappointments. In a world where Social Media is meant to bring us closer together, your channels (both Tangents and your original channel) actually accomplish that. In line with many of your assessments about Social Media and content creators, much of Social Media is driving us further apart. By giving us a real, non-crafted glimpse into parts of your life creates the community you see below. THAT is what the power of Social Media was meant to be, and Bravo! to you two for finding your place in this odd world. Thank you for sharing the portions of your lives you are willing to share, and trust that we will not let you go quietly into that good night. HUGS!

A couple of months before I retired a stranger gave me the best advice: take six months to relax and say “no” to everything. It takes time to adjust to not having things that have to be done at a certain time. It also takes awhile to fill those slots with what is enjoyable. As Tyler said, “every day is an adventure.” You two are so mentally healthy, balance each other so well, it’s a joy to listen to you on the podcast or watch the videos. My only problem with the podcasts being from the cabin…Squirrel doesn’t explore around in the background, or walk across the couch back. Love the tangent on the curated videos! Agree completely.

A grandmother here - I love how genuine you both are. Glad you have the cabin to reset and relax. Sorry about the water pipes. Two of the homes we lived in had a similar water freezing problem, and we had to run a tiny stream of water at night to keep the water from freezing. It was our only option at the time. Sad it had to happen to you. Wishing you peace this year and that all good things may come your way. Blessings to you.

I am 78 so i have learned some things. The best ever thing I learned is people project their feelings and beliefs on others. It has nothing to do with you guys but is all about them and you figured it out. Congratulations! Great job!!!!!! Always set emotional boundaries to protect yourselves. You are the most important! Keep going love you guys. One reason as a single woman I rented for years was I didn’t want to deal with the maintenance! Someone gave me a home when I came back to my hometown. It was next to my Mom so I could care for her. So now I have maintenance but I sold my Mom’s home to a great guy who renovates homes and resells. He has all the skills so he helps maintain my home for me at no charge. You guys are amazing!

I very simply love your episodes because you are so real, transparent and entertaining. The majority of time you bring a smile (sometimes tears as well) to my face, even through the challenges. I am a diehard you tube subscriber, but glad you have started this Tangents - which gives much more background on your true life. ❤ I appreciate your honesty and the legacy you guys are leaving on your channels is fantastic.

I love watching the two of you on both podcasts. You both are down to earth and you are who you are! I have watched you for several years because you are real...you are not fake, not trying to prove anything to anyone. I enjoy watching you conqueror the disasters and celebrate the victories. You inspire many of us to just take life as it comes and all you can do is enjoy, and make the best of it. I look forward to watching you make a home out of both of your properties. I do miss seeing you at the land, however I have enjoyed what you are doing with this new home. Keep smiling. It is about the journey, not the destination.

Totally understand the grind that living on the land is - as much as you love it. That’s a huge mental load!! Hope you resolve the water supply issues soon. So happy to see you all comfy and having time to relax in the cabin. Super wise to recognise you both needed a big ole break 🧡

I loved this whole tangent episode! You two are such positive role models!!!! I spent 25 years in the US Amy, about 6 years deployed. This video reminded me of my last 15 month deployment. I found silver lining every day while deployed, and most certainly experience silver linings everyday since. I’m not in a 120 degree Fahrenheit desert, wearing 60 lbs of gear, and I, (mostly) sleeping at home in my own bed. So much to be thankful for every day. Thanks for this reminder.

Let me say that yall do not owe any of us, your audience/supporters, explanation as to why the off-grid property is not complete as of yet. I can only imagine the work it has and will take for the completion of your vision for that project. We thank you for letting us in but please do not feel the pressure of having to rationalize the needed pause. Y’all are great and I truly appreciate the hard work you exemplify every week and the entertainment you provide to remind us all not to take life too seriously. 😊

So glad you bought the new place to enjoy during the winters & whenever. Life is too short to live so hard for so long. Thank you for sharing your lives with us no matter where, how or what you are doing. I'm a 68 year old white, straight, christian white woman from Kentucky in the US. I so enjoy both your channels & look forward to them. If people can't say something good then they can keep their traps shut. Hey why not block the negative nellies! Love you both!

Wonderful Tangent! Seriously- the best thing about your videos is that you guys strike the perfect balance between humility and selfless confidence. Unfortunately in the US right now I feel I am surrounded by a shitload of the Confidence lacking the selflessness and barren wasteland of Humility. Thank you for your genuineness and mirth. ❤😊

I get what you're saying. I lived in the States for 13 years... Virginia. I know exactly what you mean. I keep up with the news and listen to it every day and am saddened and angry by what I hear as well. We in Canada pray for our brothers & sisters in the states that things will settle down and there won't be a mad rush from the states to Canada if the inevitable happens, hopefully all will be well.

24/7 365 at the land was stressful. Not just living there but developing and intense labor building there! Years with an out house! You have ptsd post traumatic STRESS disorder. The emotions that rise when the lights are left on or the frozen pipe "melt down" It will get better over time ♡ the dome should be 3 seasons and the container home 4 seasons... You kids look so good♡ Your eyes look great♡ Rest hibernate and recover♡ You are wonderful just how you are! Thank you for taking us on your journey❤

No joke you guys. I’ll be 58 next month. I live in Chicago and painted faces at every pride parade since the early 90’s. My mind was stuck in stereotypes. You both blew ;) that out of the water! I had to check myself. You both accomplished so much I was shocked and that’s on me for thinking 2 gays boys doing what!?! Where!?! No way! I’m with your mom! Just incredible. Not just living there but YOU GUYS BUILT THAT SHIT! Crazy!

I so enjoyed this podcast!! I laughed, I gasped, I got angry for you, I just wanted to pat your backs and say, “Never mind those naysayers, you are doing just fine!” I think the experience on the land has made you both much more resilient than all those silly people ever will be!! I just love you both! We live in rural northern Ontario. We live in a 100 year old farm house that was my great grandfather’s. That being said, there is constant maintenance. 5 years ago our water line froze in February and the only thing we could do is wait for it to thaw(beginning of May) let me tell you, it was inconvenient … but there was lots of snow outside to melt and then we would fill up totes with water. Our friends from town would say we were crazy and not sure how we could do it. My answer was always… I’d rather it be the water line, than not having electricity or heat, imagine that!! You get used to the things you just have to do on a farm. Keep up the awesome work you two, but do take time for yourselves ❤

You both are great teachers, not only of the challenges from taking up an off grid life style, but sharing the mental and emotional pressure that comes with learning as you go. You both are wise beyond your years, in taking an honest inventory of what you needed to do to get through the winter and get ready for the next stages of problem solving that are before you in completing the container house, besides discovering the quirks of the cabin. So glad that both your families are supportive, and sorry for the bs sent your way by immature rude nay sayers. Cheers to you both and sending wishes of smooth sailing in the months ahead..❤❤❤❤

I don't understand why everyone is so mad about you not being on the land anymore, your technically still on land and can still do alot of those old projects on this land. Folks act like they don't move and start over it's not that serious to be this mad over too human beings just trying to live and make their lives stress-free

WTF! You two are giving us the incredible gift of allowing us to share in parts of your life, a wonderful, thoughtful gift! No one has any right to criticise anything you guys choose to do! Ffs, it’s your lives, do whatever makes you happy. If others don’t agree then they are totally free to do stuff themselves. Guys I absolutely love you both and am very grateful that you’re allowing me to watch parts of your lives! Again, have you thought of letting people stay in the dome, helping you out on the land, watching the garden ect ect!

I am glad you bought this beautiful cabin. It was a challenge, for me to see your situation out there in the middle of nowhere. It is impressive to watch you navigate the challenges that you shared with us. I do not recall Todd ever telling us about hugging a tree whilst shitting in the woods. Hugs. I do not do YT anymore because of the negativity in the comments. 30 mins in,,,,wow you had it rough and I barely noticed how ruff it really was. You shared some but dang, I am even happier you have this cabin. You will figure out all the stuff out. I am a Canadian living in Guatemala currently, with US residency. I do not like cold. I am a cripple and cold hurts me, I lived in Iowa for 9 yrs after 30 yr in las Vegas, 10 yrs Surrey, BC., and lots of places in between. Pivoting takes practice. I am still practicing 62yo.

You do you. People get stuck in their own stuff. I’m enjoying the variety and adventures you guys are doing together whether it’s your off grid or new house on grid. I lived 30yrs in my home built in the 1930’s it had all kinds of quirks to it. But When I sold it I left a list of contractors I’ve used like oil company electric repair gutter repair landscaper etc. I left all the user manuals for the oil burner gas fireplace etc. I made a map showing where the gas line was coming from street I labeled the electric box so they knew what was what and explained what to do even with the hot tub and the repair guy I used for it. The buyers were elated by all the information provided. It’s a shame people don’t do this I even left food restaurant suggestions in area and I nice note wishing them a lifetime of love n happiness there. I even drew a map of what types of plants were planted. I had edible and medicinal plants. Blessings to you guys on your new home.

Anyone that doesn’t live in the north and deal with winter really should come up when it’s -20 with windchills of -50 !!! They might quickly change their negative attitudes and be impressed with the two of you. These past few days in Minnesota- my dogs wouldn’t even go out. Finally it’s 5 degrees out and sunny and we thought it was a heat wave. Love watching you in my heated house with a warm blanket on and a cup of hot coffee☕️

I come from a very cold country, and THAT'S why I never could understand how on Earth could you live the way you did. I thought that probably men handle cold differently or that you are just generally very strong physically and mentally. (which is obviously true, even if you do not feel like this). And now that you have told this out loud - OMG, guys! I am so happy that you have more comfort here!

You continue to share such a healthy perspective, always learning from what happens. Tyler and Todd 4EVR ❤. Love all the content here and the videos too. I hope the water gets sorted. Don’t overthink the negative comments, they remind me of earwigs in the garden. They are under every rock, just drop the rock back where it was and look up…. The flowers are still thriving.

You mentioned people not knowing who you are in future and I just had to share that while at Darcy and Jer show in Portland last weekend the 10 or so people I sat next to all shared how we found them. Mine was you guys, 5 of them all started following you guys after that conversation. I in turn started following 3 others on how they had found Darcy and Jer. It’s those organic in person experiences that will keep you relevant because some of us do look for genuine vs curated. Tangent of my own, my cat Clawd is in love with Squirell and my 6 year old asks every Sunday afternoon if it’s time to watch you guys.
