You won't believe this Filipino's reaction to American BBQ.

In this episode of Food Truck Friday, we visited the Smoke on the Water BBQ Festival put on by River Walk Fort Lauderdale. This event showcased a contest between some well known local BBQ chefs in Broward County Florida. The competition was tight but there could only be one winner. And to be honest I think we were the winners having the opportunity to taste such amazing food!

Why would I not believe it, American BBQ is the best food on earth, that and pizza. I go to Smokin Notes BBQ for ribs and fries, and FireHouse Pizza in East Peoria Illinois for pizza, they are both the best.

Reno NV does a once a year and has like 20 different BBQ`s from SC to Hawaii... great to try different regions flavors and styles... along of course with some beer.

There are some larger contests in Florida too. This one is a little more intimate and on a smaller scale. Keep an eye out, we will do more like this in the near future!

American, by definition, is a wide variety of styles. Now, if you are saying Texas BBQ or Carolina BBQ, then no. But putting a different twist on style of food is never a bad thing.

I can understand your concern. The bbq in Florida is heavily influenced by South American and Caribbean culture. It's not typically your traditional pit bbq. But expand your palat you might appreciate less traditional styles as well.
