Right decision, but we don’t have the personnel it seems. I don’t understand why Carney, one of our tall players, is closing down a defender who lumps it forward for the goal. Carney should have dropped back. Badiashile & Disasi aren’t it. Silva isn’t either anymore. We’ve Chalobah, Fofana and Colwill as our decent CBs, with 2 of them injured. I accept we have issues with the inconsistencies of youth, a number in their 1st EPL season, but there are some players that will never be it.

Poch subs in two players in the 91st minute who had no idea what to do, then we proceeded to concede. Right before the goal, look at our entire team lined up accross the field like sitting ducks. Absolutely no organization, because Poch threw it out the window with two subs. This has been the case all season with Poch brining on another CB to upset the whole defense.

play Enzo and Gallagher (Conor has more interceptions, successful tackles than Caicedo) as a double pivot (i mean do something don't just play the same falling midfield pivot every week with hopes that it will change at least try to protect your back four) with gallagher as the cdm and enzo in the sane he is in right now but from time to time in match they can switch. Another experiment for the books. Would have played Chalobah as RB, Disasi and Silva as CB's. Hope for the best with Cucurella. Switch aroo in defensive midfield: Gallagher left, Caicedo in the middle and Fernandez right. It did not work, they looked lost and bewildered. Attacking midfield: Palmer, Madueke and Jackson. They struggled to dominate outside the first 15 mins of the first half. Against a physical team fighting regulation, we decided not to use the pace of Sterling or Mudryk. Nor the touch, smarts in tight spaces of Chukwuemeka. Simply bewildering. Usual dumbfounding second half start, followed by late substitutions. Everytime we switch offense for defense in the 2nd half, we concede cheaply. 4 defenders, plus 2 holding mids, plus 2 extra defenders and we conceed first post. Embarrassing! This is not the first time we tried this and got picked off.

you wanna know the issue? Poch, and i'll tell you why. Sheffield went out before the game and heavily watered the pitch. A pitch that has been battered by a storm all week. Dirty underhanded tactics from Sheffield to over water the pitch but why isnt Poch prepared for that? Why are we still trying to play tika taka on ice? Players were slipping all over the place/ Poch should have recognized the state of the pitch when inspecting it before kick off and changed up the tactics. We didn't see a shot from the 23rd minute until the 56th. not a single chance on goal. His substitutions were a joke, I kind of agree with Palmer coming off, at that point Sheffield were throwing in bad tackles, arguably should have had a player sent off but 2-1 up we should have still had the quality on the field to get the win, take Palmer off and prevent him being injured for the remainder of the season from some poor tackle in a game we were winning. Making 2 defensive substitutions on a set piece and keeping Gallagher on the pitch for the full 90 minutes in a game that he cant press is a joke

I missed about 30 minutes but from the rest I made the following observations: Never, EVER move Palmer away from that RW spot. He wasn't bad per se but it's unbelievable how much less influential on the game he was and seeing him drop back to almost CB had me really worried in regards to what the plan was. Gallagher on the wing is nuts. He did fine but it's clearly not his position and it also limits the effectiveness of his pressing. That would be if we need him to cover some position or close down a game but it's not the way to go if we want to win a game. Would rather have Gallagher as ST than on the wing again. Noni feels very limited. He scored a good goal and he carries the ball really well but I'm genuinely worried as to whether or not he knows he has a right foot. As a defender you just KNOW that he has to cut in at some point (or pass it to an overlapping FB if available). Caicedo and Enzo looked fine and Cucu is in crazy good form right now. Also Disasi at RWB is confusing but somehow it's not that bad??? Thiago Silva was fine in defending and his goal was great but he also made 2 big mistakes. Also not sure if it's worth fielding him when Poch feels like he needs to protect him with a CB at FB. I still like Petrovic. Yes, he's gone down in form in recent games but he's still very comfortable on the ball and that near post garbage dive was his 2nd big mistake by my count. Guy is 24, which is still rather young for keepers. If you still call for a better goalkeeper by the end of the season then rest assured that Kepa is coming back. Didn't have the best season at Real but maybe Poch still wants him. Also we could always try and see what Slonina has to offer. Chalobah looked the best out of all our CBs in my eyes. Certainly a starter for the rest of the season. Carney looks very good. Should have started the game and should start against Everton. Bringing on Badiashile is bonkers. Shouldn't he be punished for playing badly rather than casually collecting more minutes than Gilchrist? I'm certain Cucu could have finished the game and even if that wasn't an option there must be some LB in our academy that's half decent. Or just throw Gilchrist on LB, he at least puts in some effort. All Badiashile did was loose an aerial duel and fall asleep while Hamer was heading it back for McBurnie to score equalizer. Palmer standing up after this Robinson tackle should NOT influence the outcome. This was the clearest red I've seen in a while. Can't wait for us to loose against Everton again before demolishing City 3-1 and easily drawing Arsenal.

Enzo tries(he is just slow) and gallagher tries (just lacks technique sometimes and football IQ sometimes) but Caicedo for a defensive midfielder is horrible can't get close to a player, can't break down play, lacks concentration, jogs doesn't run the only positive is that he plays great foward passes but that is not his number one job i would rather have a cdm who does everything else except make foward passes.

I know this isn't really the type of video you usually do, but I'd love to see your opinion on which goalkeepers you think we should look at. I just don't know who both fits our model AND has a chance to be the keeper we need. Granted, there are probably several out there who would be better than our current options, but who can be the guy to replace a Cech or a Courtois between the posts?

It’s hard to defend Poch but I just don’t get why Noni didn’t play on left Gallagher in middle and palmer on left. That’s how I thought we’d line up, and I’d be quite happy with that. I was fairly ok with defence with who was available. My biggest grievance is that he bought on the most useless player in Badieshile, he couldn’t defend from my 3 yo cousin. It’s actually amazing how unaware he is. Edit: this is gonna sound cynical but I won’t be upset if we don’t make Europa. Our current performances will just be highlighted further on a bigger stage, I don’t see anyone available doing better overall, they may be tactically better but that may take away from players freedom and growth as it would need to be hardcore drills. I think another year under the radar of Europe would probably be a better idea. No distractions of Thursday night.

We looked scared to scrap, to put a foot in. It really felt like boys being scared of getting hurt to me. The lineup was proper dross, we have wingers, play them and rest Gallagher. I don't rate Chalobah as a cb, he has too many mistakes in him to be the last line of defence, however, our midfield needs defensive reinforcement, seems like a no brainer to me, push him in there to cover Enzo when he pushes up. I don't like Sanchez, but Petrovic has been playing himself out of the team so that's an issue I can't see a solution to. The biggest thing I think is just how young of a team we are, consistency is not going to happen this season or maybe even next season unless we bring in some experienced players to steady the ship.
