You won't BELIEVE what we found in Lisbon...

What an incredible city!! What an incredible few days! Wow Lisbon blew our socks off!
We found a fantastic campsite right in the heart of the city. Not only was it a great location, it had lovely facilities and a special character of it's own. The campsite was the perfect base to explore Lisbon with the amazing Rita from Sandemans Tours - we do love a FREE Walking tour.

I luv all the places you stay , hubby always at u for eating, but u enjoy and why not , u soon work it of you with all the walking, swimming, your amazing. and I luv the history lessons as always. kids off school , they get week of, will you go back home then. ive been hearing on the news we might have another lockdown for Christmas because people are not wearing there masks. Great presentation by Lyndsay of Lisbon's history and all about the places to see around the city. Lisbon looks beautiful with its lovely buildings and open squares. Glad you got to meet Spiderman, well it looked like the real one to me 😁 Anybody else see Little Miss Angry at 10:34 when the lady hit the back of the yellow bus, she didn't look happy. When Lyndsay described the custard tart by saying "It's the crispiest flakiest pastry with custard with a creme brulee topping on the top" it reminded me of the Cadbury's Flake adverts of years ago with the beautiful girl seductively eating a flake that's being described as "The crumbliest flakiest milk chocolate in the World" The modern PC world prevents it but you could have been the new modern day flake girl Lyndsay 🤗 Glad to see both of you taking a genuine interest in what the tour guide was saying as so many don't. Pool looks great at the complex. Great dive Lyndsay, I'm rubbish at diving, never got past the belly flop stage. Massive water displacement when I dive in 😁 Great that all of you always make full use of the pool wherever you go. This will get several watches, already looking forward to the next one. PS ( You can buy fresh Pastel de Nata in Lidl in England, they are not bad, my opinion beaches in the south Lisbon are better water not so cold, from Costa da Caparica south maybe around 10 miles sandy beach )

Yes, we get some very tasty freshly baked ones in our local Lidl on the outskirts of Birmingham. They have a little bakery on site. Pastel de Nata (not sure if I've spelled that correctly!) Such crispy pastry. 😋

Slightly off topic but just visited the Campervan Exhibition in Barcelona, and now looking for either a McLouis Menfys Prestige 5 or Benivan 144 equivalent? Do you have any contacts or pointers please? We live in Spain. Any help would be appreciated. Hi Ben. We have mainly had Swift Motorhomes but know there are many other great brands out there. We have no experience with any of the brands you’ve mentioned. I know the German built motorhome often get good praise for build quality. The main advice would be to pay particular attention to getting the correct layout to suit you. Best of luck finding your new van.

Yeah, we ended up using MacDonald when we toured France. Unbelievable but nobody else wanted to stay open in France. Lisbon was one of my favourites, it's culture is one of the funniest but it's history is very worrying as it's still not that long ago it was a ruthless banana republic ruled by dictators and ruthless regimes. Check out the national pantheon and Almada and the Monastery and the ridiculous trams and the flea market.

Hi Anthony. I hear ASCI cards are good for getting discounted campsites, but they only work out of season and we don't use them so we can't share our experience with them. We simply use www.searchforsites.co.uk or the Park4night app and try and mix things up with campsites, wild camping and the odd pub stop from time to time. I also understand France Passion will help you with fee and inexpensive stops for France.

A question for you ,,,have you ever stayed over nite on rest areas or European services throughout your tour the big question I read and view other bloggers like yourselves and some over Nighters have had some very very nasty experiences,robberies,,etc???

John we have read many a story about these incidents and tend to stay away from service rest areas located on motorways and we usually stay at more scenic aires or ones located in local towns or villages where a nice walk around the local community can be rewarding

I’m not sure what rules for each country are, but I do know that generators are frowned upon on sites or around other motorhomes. I guess if your wild camping on your own in the middle of nowhere you’d be fine. Solar and lithium are the best way to go for off grid power Lynn.

@@RoamingRadfords Ahaha, Actually Portugal declared itself neutral during WWII, although the Regime did favour Hitler, of course, so neutral Lisbon became an haven for spies from both sides and yes it was full of them, it was a sort of Casablanca in Europe. My grandmother worked as a cook at an upper class foreign gentleman that was known for his double spy activities. :)
