3.4 is a great and underrated motor IMO. I bought a 2003 taco new with the 3.4 5 speed. Drove it for 17 years and literally never had any problems. Man o man do I miss that truck and the quite and dependable drive train.......

my wife’s 3.5 litre V6 Rav 4 did the same thing and when you disconnect and reconnect the battery it would come good, So when it was running bad I just unplugged individual coil packs till I found one that didn’t make any difference in it’s idle sound then I changed that one. Fixed!! Keep that V6 it sounds good !!!

Sounds like someone half assed a motor swap and then wonder why it doesn't run good. Once you get it straightened out I think it will be a great truck

Posted on your last vid, but the vacuum operated fuel pressure regulator valve on my 00 Silverado threw the same codes and gave me the same symptoms. I ran through everything you have done so far. I hated troubleshooting that random misfire code! Took me forever. Glad you figured it out!

If you pull that engine take a look at the head gaskets if they are fiber instead of metal they need to be replace also do not reuse the head bolts

Super easy to trick the evap. My 98 tacoma with the 3.4 has no canister and i just routed the purge solinoid outlet to the intake. No check engine light for the last 2 years.

Here in Aust, its a quite common engine swap, v6 from a commodore to a hilux ,, the v6's are a buick engine which are from the states,,,, i'm a diesel fitter so didnt really ike the petrol conversions, but i have to say they have good power for pushing an older heavier 4by ,,, its gonna be a tall order to bring up the standards of your previous build mate

I got the 3.8 in my 93 ln106. Absolutely love it! Running 35s with 4.88 diffs and it tractors through everything. Tow the caravan at 110 all day in 35° heat no worries. Highly recommend the conversation

if you end up with a missfire again, I would def replace the injectors. The 3.0 and 3.4 are notorious for cooking the #3 and #6 injectors during a "hot soak"(turning engine off, manifold heat soaks into back of motor). The resistance will check out fine but they will still be bad. don't send them to get them cleaned, replace them. aftermarket and fake(counterfeit) toyota injectors suck

Sounds like my Honda Pilot. I bought it with a "bad transmission". After researching and troubleshooting it was a bad alternator not putting out enough power to the electronic transmission controls. $160 later and it ran like an absolute champion. My gf liked it so much she sold her Escape and kept to tote our son around. Stupid easy fix.

Just swapping the coils did the trick? I have the same problem. Lean bank 1 misfire bank 5. I changed the maf sensor, spark plugs, wires, ignition coils, fuel filter and still have the same problem.

Austin Niemela I daily drove an 88 4Runner with the 3VZE for 10 yrs and I currently drive an 04 Tacoma (4dr 4WD) with the 5VZE that I've had for over 10 yrs, so it's interesting to see this engine swap done, and having been done, lets say, "incompletely". It looks like the previous owner made some right and some wrong decisions (cheap parts that made their problems worse, it appears), but I have to applaud what appears to have been a novice giving an engine swap a go and getting that far... We all start somewhere eh? IMHO, in vids like these, the more details, the better... Like how did you do the resistance test on the injectors? Your other truck fricking awesome btw, nice work .
