Yep, I thought the same! 60F = ~15.5C so about right for a heated property for the glass temperature. Actually showing pretty good insulation performance because the property is presumably heated to around 20C so the windows aren't losing that much heat.

My 80 year old mum had a cold caller on the door who pressured her into signing a contract, once she told me she felt uneasy I made sure it was null and void, I live abroad but made a call to the company in question, Zenith windows wanted to replace all her windows which were in perfect condition, I was furious they would do such a thing. Its seems any contractor working in the area take it upon themselves to knock on the neighbours doors of where they are working trying to get more custom, unscrupulous.

One of the Zenith owners or founders or directors, bought an old manor house, next to my friend's ancient spot of woodland on the river. For the project she had there, she wanted children and disabled or terminally ill children to come on her land for activities. It involved making some walkways on the more boggy areas. The land had a good tree coverage. The Zenith director ( from Essex ) had installed giant electric gates ( of course ) and created an massive manicured lawn. He told her "I don't want cripples at the bottom of my land" ( which was also a five minute walk from his manor house anyway, the land was so large he had ). Bearing in mind, the lady he ranted at, also had a terminally ill son who died, which was the inspiration. Unfortunately, as he had 'friends' on the local council, the project support ended. Shows how corrupted some councils are. Then, two weeks later, he went to his Villa in Spain, slipped and fell over by the pool, broke his back in three places and had to spent the rest of his life basically lying down and being nursed 24/7. He was already into his 70s at that point. This is maybe 20 years ago now.

Gentleman turns up and has a cup of tea and a look around, and then says ‘you haven’t got cavity walls!!’ Whereupon The Old Man’s response was along the lines of ‘you said you had a revolutionary method to apply it to any house. I want to see what you’re going to do here’. History relates that the guy drove back home somewhat annoyed.

Between the glass panes of modern UPVC windows there is argon gas. Argon works like the screen the nurse or doctor goes behind when you are having an X ray - it stops heat radiating through the windows. Argon gas has low conductivity so heat can't easily conduct through.

I liked what what said about seeking a number of estimates, four years ago we decided to replace all our windows abd doors, we had four windows and 3 doors. For our front door we wanted a stable door that opened half way up and bedroomj a fire window which opens out. Bathroom we wanted a patern class simuler to frost glass and a Rose on front living room top window wvery where else just basic double PVC windows and doors,, plus a knocker and we didn.t want a letter box. Knowin what we wanted we had a leaflet through our door saying double glazing at 50% off and that they advertised on TV, I don,t know about that I don't have a TV. We rang and they said they would send a reprsentative to our home, over the phone they told me no pressure would be made and we would get plenty of time to consider their estimate. Sounds good and when the salesman came he was polite, the funny thing is I told him what we wanted and he kept trying to change our mind, why I don't know he seemed to know our specification more then us. After he showed us through the catalogue he had with him and we picked cerain things out we would like, he said so you would like to go ahead? I said no we just need a estimate and I have two other places to see. So he worked a price out £7,500, I said i thought there was 50% off? He said that was with the 50%. He said if we go ahead with it now and pay a deposit he would knock £500 off. I said I never pay deposit I always work job first and when satisfied payment, he didn't seem to like that and by now I think he realised he was getting nowhere, sI am not a pensioner and all major work I have done on my house I get a number of estimates at least 3. He left and I wonder now if they had anything to do with this firm on Rogue Traders? However I did get a few more estimates local, one was £4,500 and another £3,995 with all what I specified and without 50% off. I went with the cheaper estimate not because it was cheaper but they where very nice no force and very happy to give us time to think it over, the other one they where nice and know they do a good job because we know people who had work from them, infact we know people who had work by both companies and where very happy. We agreed they wanted no deposite and booked a day to start, took them 4 days and did a fantastic job, paid them when they finished the work. I noticed upstairs the put one plain of glass upside down so I rang them and right away came and put it right. What I couldn't understand the company that offered 50% off where nearly 100% more neaerly double. Yes be very careful as now you can check on trust pilot and even today the company we used is a 5 star company, the other company I got discount estimate isn't mention looks like its gone out of business or started up in another name.

The idea was to get a lead and then pass it on to the swaggering salesmen who set off in pursuit. The methodology consisted of being given a few pages of the Liverpool phone directory and offering a free survey. I lasted one shift, realising only the elderly or gullible were prey. Most of the Scousers gave me well deserved abuse. After a couple of hours realising that a) I was never coming back and b) the salesmen were twats I decided to feed them the most abusive aggressive people I’d called and had been offed, from the toughest areas I knew of in Liverpool and present them as leads. I dunno if they made another call to check or just raced out to see them....hopefully the latter! 👊

I worked at a company calling itself the national hearing centre - we were calling people that anyone had worked in a noisy environment and were told that they would be entitled for compensation by manager , turns out it was all a scam ( only over a certain amoung of hearing damage would they be entittled and certain other criteria )and I found out after the company sacked me for using google to find an andress and location of the near test centre , they were done fraud and tax evasion ,I hated that job it was all i could get at the time , I have autism ( which i did not know back then was not diagnosed till 26) aswell so for while i completely believed they legit , also the managers were aggressive and bullies , manipulated employees it was run by pakis too
