BIG thank you! I always have to pack my desktop pc and everything in a huge bag and install my setup at my friends in order to play there, then move it back home which is a pain in the ass. Therefore I'm getting myself a gaming notebook which is way smarter to travel with. I watched many of your videos and you're such an inspiration! Being organized makes these things so much more enjoyable! After watching a few of your perfectly made reviews I decided to go with the northface accesspack. I then looked for these small pouches to put my cables etc in, but didn't know how to search for them online. It's like you read my mind and uploaded this video to safe the day! :D thank you so much, your organized lifestyle and your videos are a HUGE inspiration!

Bo I understand the issue you have with the links but you can at least list the products reviewed? Like your videos a lot!
@kevinankin
@kevinankin 7 жыл бұрын
I almost asked for links to the products, but then I read your disclaimer. Makes sense. I want to pack more modular with 'pouches' but I tend to change what I bring quite often so I would find myself repacking the pouches. If the bag i'm using has organization then I'll tend to use that over pouches. The only pouch I use is a dopp kit, as those items rarely change. However, i'm going to try and go the pouch route and see how that goes. Great video as always. Cheers.
@Youknowthebo
@Youknowthebo 7 жыл бұрын
Thanks, Kevin. Sorry about the links. But being in Germany and you're in USA, it just makes more sense for you to google the stuff ;-) Using the organization in the bag is usually more sensible, but I switch bags and stuff so often, therefore I find it easier just to switch the pouches around ;-)

Exactly what I have been looking for. I really like the look of the Trakke bags. I am also looking for an extra large dopp kit as most are just a smidge too small for my needs. Currently I am using two dopp kits (average size) but would love to find a nice large one.

Realized modularity makes my life easier specially when I transition from city life to outdoor recreation. I use LRU (Last recently used) sorting to figure out which packs and items go in which compartment of the pack depending on ease of access. I also assign a dedicated LRU pocket which contains items and knick knacks that I keep reaching for throughout the day (lip balm, phone, sunglasses, pen, etc).

Great video Bo! Gosh I have so many pouches and packing cubes. I don't even know how to explain to people why I love them, lol. I carry a pouch with general items like cash, contact solution, etc, as well as an electronics pouch in my backpack. Then I have a pouch in my car with a multitool, bigger flashlight, etc, along with a first aid kit. Finally, I'm a big fan of packing cubes. They especially work great in goruck style backpacks- mine is from Recycled Firefighter. I like the eagle creek compression cubes the best. ✌️

Hi Bo. Yet again a very good and informative video. Thank you. Just one point though, if I may. With the Bond pouch that you took onboard the aircraft, did I see a penknife? They are banned - or at least used to be - on UK flights due to security. I'm on an internal UK flight later this week and my trusty swiss army keyring knife will need to stay at home...😞

I love pouches in my backpack! It’s tamed the black hole or rabbit hole as I call the top load everyday carry I have (Osprey 24/7 Flare backpack) I thought you were in Canada? My hearing sucks. I’m looking for a small carryon for EU travel, I wish I could go with 35/40 liters but since I fly back and forth to the US and sometimes in the EU I have to go with the smaller size.

yea like the one time I was trying to find my thunderbolt to HDMI adapter so I can show some video footage to a client on their TV, I used to keep all of my cables loose in one one the compartments in my camera bag, buying a pouch has been a time and life easier. thanks to your pouches. now all my cables, chargers and adapters are all in one spot, I ended up with a Think Tank Photo Powerhouse Air, it holds my MacBook charger, two lightning cables. Thunderbolt adapter, micro to USB,Charger for my Sony camera, a flash drive, A CF/SD card reader and the charger for my Canon DSLR. Oh the video does look different on my computer using google than it does on my iPhone, I figure it was just the colorspace anyhow.

Up kind of late? lol, yes it seems like we always need some sort of adapter, Guess one day I'll have to switch to USB C but not now. One reason I have not bought a new laptop in a couple of years, I used to have get a new every year that was windows, got a Mac last time, still hanging in there.

+Donald Kline Haha, yeah. It was a long work day. 😉 I'm with you. I'm still hanging out with on to my 2014 MacBook pro retina just because of the connections. If I should upgrade I calculated that I need €500 on top of the MacBook just for adapters or Thunderbolt docks.

Hey Bo, great video again :). Have you ever tried packing cubes for clothes, which come with a compression zipper, to take the air out and then use less space in the bag? Do you have any opinion / thoughts on that kind? Thanks!
@Youknowthebo
@Youknowthebo 7 жыл бұрын
+Fabian Stein thanks. Yes I have seen those. Looks like a great idea to save space. But I probably would only use them for boxers or socks, as compressing your clothes that way probably makes them very wrinkly. Furthermore I ranger roll most of my clothing which also saves lots of space. Check my ranger roll tutorial on my channel 😉✌️

Great video. Since I'm planning on making some, I'm curious, what do you think makes the best packing cubes? Do you have preferred sizes? I was think of just going with ISO paper sizes, A4, A5, etc. You said that mil spec. is overkill for the goruck cubes, what do you think is the best fabric? I'm considering making light ones, and more durable ones as well. Just not 1000D. Are there any features you wish more packing cubes had?

@Youknowthebo
@Youknowthebo 7 жыл бұрын
+Erjon Selinista thank you very much. It depends. Do you carry a lot of books and binders? If yes, then I wouldn't recommend the access pack. The space for such items is pretty limited due to the shape of the bag. But if you only carry a laptop and no big books or binders (or maybe just one or two books) then you should be fine. But I would recommend to test it out with your laptop first. Pc laptops come in so many different shapes that it is difficult to answer if your pc will fit

How to effectively pack a duffel bag? Or not carry one at all?
@Youknowthebo
@Youknowthebo 7 жыл бұрын
+v1d300 I have used the northface base camp duffel for traveling for many years. I prefer it to a suitcase because I can compress it if I don't ne d to pack a lot of stuff. Furthermore I can use it as a backpack as well. But it is heavier to carry compared to a regular backpack or a rolling suitcase.

Thanks for another nice review. I can truly feel the obsession in getting things organised and in modular mode. I had been searching for Goruck field pocket alternatives because they are super costly to get One to ship here, Malaysia. In the process I had bought and also ordered some customised pouches from my local bag/messengers/pack company, Greenroom136.com. That is why I would advice everyone just to Google the product within their country to find the best deals. For instance: I live in Germany, It wouldn’t make sense to give you a German link while you might be living in USA or Asia. I hope that is understandable.

I really like your videos and I almost watched all of them im a fan but there's somethings i don't, not talking about prices and this sort of grayish color corrected photage its just dull and overly cinematic for a review rather than bright and colorful, also the video format is always the same and the same intro everytime which is kinda useless in my opinion it's either ppl who already know you are watching or ppl who are here for the bagd ( maybe you do it to market yourself which is very understandable but maybe you can try another technique) anyways i just want you to know this is just crtisism because i like your content. Thank you for the great videos and wish you best of luck. My name is yousef hamdy btw a business informatics student based in Cairo Egypt.

Hey Yousef. Thanks for your constructive feedback. Let me try to answer some of your valid feedback: regarding prices: I decided not to include prices in all my video reviews. Most of my viewers are either in USA or Asia, while I live in Germany, therefore everyone has different shipping costs and custom fees which will affect the price a lot. Which is why I believe that it is more reasonable or easier just to google the specific product in your country and try to find the best deal. I hope that makes sense. regarding introduction: I feel honored that you think people already know me, but I don't think of it that way. As a matter of fact (looking at my analytics) a lot of views come from non subscribers that actually just look for a specific bag and never have heard from me. And I think it is just polite to introduce myself. Furthermore it is kinda like a trademark. Even people with millions of subscribers like Austin Evans for instance always introduces himself with "Hey guys this is Austin" in every single video. regarding structure: for reviews I believe it is important to have a same structure to give an overall baseline of all my reviews. You know what to expect. But that is also the reason why I started the "Ismono Moments" series which is intended to be a little more "free" in that regards. Also having this structure helps me to create videos faster and in a weekly fashion. Don't forget I cram these videos into my regular workschedule ;-) regarding colorgrading: I just recently found out that google chrome actually messes with the colorspace. In firefox all my videos actually have more contrast and look just the way like in premiere. I hope that this doesn't come across as too defensive. I really appreciate your honest and constructive feedback! Thank you very much! Cheers, mate!

Bo Ismono you're very welcome and thank you for the explanations it's always great to know the reasoning behind things, And regarding the color thing I usually watch on the iOS KZbin app so check it too maybe it messes up colors too and it ends up not looking the way you intend it to be. Thanks again mate!

+Yousef Hamdy unfortunately that is the "problem" with color spaces and differently calibrated monitors. When I was a photographer that was even more of a headache because photos would look differently on every single platform or monitor. I'm not sure why chrome doesn't work with the srgb color space. But I stopped worrying about it because there is just little that I can do 😂 I'm not sure how the KZbin app is interpreting colorspaces to be honest. Thanks again for your support. Cheers, mate 😉 ✌️

@@Youknowthebo - It's actually a massive pain in the as to go looking for cc options, you miss the video twice and then maybe can't even find the option. Then, because you have an accent different from the "all-American white male", they are very likely to be wrong, and occasionally inappropriate. I have tried to find them for your article... Have you? Thanks for the info, i just wish it was more easily accessibly.

As I said in the video: This might seem excessive. But there are a couple of reasons why you might would like to do this: 1) If you have lots of cables or dongles a pouch will keep everything organized and more importantly you will not have tangled cables. 2) If you have lots of small items, these can get lost inside the bag, and if you are in a hurry you don't want to dig through all of your stuff just to find an usb drive Bottom line: You are correct. It does cost more money and adds weight, but it will safe you time (in most situations) and keep your stuff organized. If you have a bag with lots of compartments, you obviously don't need this. But even then, if you have lots of cables a cable pouch might still be interesting for you. Cheers, mate.
