6:00 I have the Aer DayPack, which is smaller. I find a) the zippers pulls are too loud, so I replaced with silent pulls, b) the lack of clam shell makes it difficult to carry anything more than a few notebooks. I was surprised how much I dislike not having a clam shell approach, even for a daily office bag. Pro: Discrete look, and convertible from messenger to backpack. Overall: I’m looking at the Topo commuter brief case and Topo 3-day brief case. Great video btw!

Thanks, Mike. Yes, once you are used to clamshell openings, duffel or top loading openings feel very impractical.

Great review Bo. Thank you for your help when I was looking for a bag I just purchased the AER travel pack 2 and am waiting for it to be delivered to Australia. I’m interested that you didn’t bring up a go-ruck during your review but don’t mind. I can see they have their downsides, e.g. weight and cost but interested in them to start rucking. Thanks once again. Maybe I will see you in your travels one day.

The AER bag is getting so much attention that I’m thinking about buying one. Like you I have a bag farm. Tons of bags. But so many applications. I’m interested in the AER, the peak design and topo designs. Love your videos man. I am in that place where your equipment begins to own you rather than you owning it. Thanks, Bob. Unfortunately I haven't had the chance to see a Tom binh bag in person yet. So I can't really comment on your question. But I would like to check one out in the future
@anthonycbrown19526 жыл бұрын
Thank you for the great comparison. Unfortunately, many comparisons/reviews don't speak to the bag design from a safety / tampering perspective. In a commuter situation with packed subways, having a bag with many openings facing towards potential thieves is a negative. Also, too many externally facing openings also increases the chance of leaving and opening unzipped - increasing the chance of an item falling out.
@Youknowthebo6 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the great comment, Anthony. I do agree with you to some degree, and I do want to add that there is no safe way to protect yourself from pick pockets. I tested one anti theft backpack and I was not impressed. The worse thing is that antitheft backpack tend to give you a false sense of security IMO. I believe that the best way against pickpockets is situational awareness: I see so many people starring on their phones being oblivious to their surroundings for instance. Inside crowded areas I always stand with my back against a wall and have my backpack between my legs on the ground for instance.

Hi, Bo, Your videos are tops! How about doing a video like this with regards to actual airline restrictions? Eg., the Oppose This will not it Ryanair....
@Youknowthebo5 жыл бұрын
Thanks, mate. I was thinking about something like that. But in my experience Airline restriction can vary vastly between the different airlines and it is also kind of a gamble depending on the staff. Sometimes the staff will just wave you through and sometimes the pick apart every cm of your bag.

Does anyone know if the Aer can fit a 32oz hydro flask ?
@alsil97936 жыл бұрын
I have the AER Travel pack 1 and the water bottle pocket does not fit my full size Nalgene. So, while I don't have either the Travel Pack 2 or the 32oz Hydro, I would probably presume it does not fit. The water bottle pocket is not very large. (it does fit a pair of folded up beats solo 3 which I end up putting in there and clipping my water bottle to the outside).

Thanks, A L Sil. The water bottle pocket of the 1 and 2 are the same size.

Thanks for this round up video - it's pleasant and informative as always. I was wondering if you would do something like a "top xx bags of 2018" video. Good to see Aer remains as one of your top choice. I decided to get the Aer Travel Pack 2 after seeing your review (and many other reviews of other bags). While the bag is a little wide for my small body frame, it is a good compromise for a 10 day trip. I can't wait to try it out! Just curious though, have you heard of the North face Kabyte? I've been using it for a year and I like it a lot for its sleek and minimalistic looks. Would love to hear your views of it. :)
