Danny Trejo made his debut in Runaway Train. An ex-addict and convict that swore to turn his life around, he worked as a sponsor for other addicts. He got a call from a guy on a studio saying he wanted to go back on the coke, so went to the studio and talked him down. They were filming the prison boxing match in which Trejo used to actually box in jail, so he offered some advice. This led to him being a coach for Eric Roberts and scoring a part in the movie (as soon as the director saw his tats). Trejo spends his days volunteering to appear free in student films, he feeds the homeless and also rescues dogs (he has about ten !) All round top bloke.

The damage effects on the film is to replicate a 70s theater experience. Often, when grindhouses or drive ins would get a movie, that print had been in so many theaters and run through the projector so many times that the film would be damaged (scratches, loose sprockets, audio dropping out). And sometimes, a movie would not have all of the reels (Rodriguez theorized the missing reels were often the ones with a nude scene or something that the projectionist would keep).
@ravenwulfgar9 күн бұрын
And Grindhouse movies were typically low-budget, super-violent, sometimes extra gory, often lurid content that wouldn't be featured in typical theaters at the time. Later Grindhouse movies would come in the form of direct-to-video flicks from the late-80s/early-90s

The missing is still missing in the extended cut. I laughed so hard when it went from Missing Reel to total chaos with the place in flames. The little boy is Robert's son and the pets are actually his pets. The Crazy Babysitter Twins are Robert's nieces and the doctor looking at the infection images is actually Robert's doctor. Robert shot 2 versions incase the death of the boy wouldn't fly and as far as his son knows, his character lives to the end. The worn film effects are also on the extended cut.
