When you do your water change I notice you put the Prime in the tank before adding the water, I thought you were suppose to de-chlorinate the water first before adding it into the tank.

Hey Kav! Absolutely great information! I was given a whole tank (50 gal) set up over a year ago & kept it storage. I always had fish when I was kid (70’s), none of the great products they have today! Lol My cousin built my filters & we did old school tank cycling. I don’t know how I kept them alive! 😬😂 Doing research I fell down a rabbit hole & came across your channel. You are thorough and straight up. I was interested in cichlids and after watching a lot of your vids - freshwater tank and cichlids it is. I’m starting out with 4 African and a rescued plecos. So far so good just dealt with an ammonia spike & grateful for your vid on that! Please keep up the Great work!

Question: unfortunately I couldn’t fix the seal issues with an older model fluval canister filter so I purchased a The marineland polishing filter - fully submersible & supposed to handle up 97 gallon tank. If you don’t mind me asking here- Have you heard of it & what’s your thoughts on submersible filters? It also creates a great current really moves the water & I can adjust it to flow up, down, left or right. I am still going to put in a wave maker though.

I have another question I was recently given the pineapple from spongebob as decoration for the tank. But have recently found out it’s bad for the tank and releases chemicals in it due to the paint chipping. Is this true? I’ve tried googling it and some say it’s okay and some say it’s really bad. I am settling up my 125g again. I have lost about 8 fish to just dieing. They are just fine until I find them dead. I check the tank within the day of finding them and all is good. The youngest one was only 2 weeks old from the store. The others were 3-6 weeks from the store. The all from PerSmart, I usually buy the assorted juveniles when starting up my tanks. So I expect some attrion, but even now I think it is high. So keep watching them and checking the water and your filter. Also check your food. I am adding Alge wafers to mine now.. I just got a new batch last 🌙. And will be cleaning the Fx4 and my HOT Magnum today. Good luck.

API stress coat is primarily a de-chlorinator but also helps with the fishes slime coat which is good for stress. Stress guard is not a de-chlorinated, its only for stress but its much more stronger and concentrated than api stress coat.

I am getting ready to start my new 125 peacock chiclid tank. now this tank was already established as it is a rehomed tank. I have a forza 13 with uv filter (established and came with) and an fx6 as well (will need cycled) taking some water from my wifes 125 that we are taking down and moving to get my 125 going. so it is a semi established tank. I see that you want to add as many as possible at first to try and curb aggression and also don't keep repeating the pecking order. On the other side you put to many fish in you spike the ammonia and crash the system. I know there are so many varying factors which is why I gave you so much information. what is your suggestions as far as the first group of fish. and then adding others safely in the future?

So I haven’t gotten my cichlids yet for my 75gallon , but after seeing how much colors and styles peacocks and haps have I want to go for that set up instead of mbunas. Luckily for me there is a ciclid farm in my city so I can pick them up. My question is how many can I fit in a 75 gallon and which ones should I get I def want lots of colors and relatively peaceful cichlids cause I do want to put in some clown loaches and 1 red tail shark and maybe a pleco , thanks again if you can help @KaveMan Aquatics

do you continue adding stability everyday or just the day you added the new fish?... I just found out my tap has about .50 of ammonia..... thoughts ?
@KaveManAquatics
@KaveManAquatics 3 жыл бұрын
No, Stability daily only until your tank has finished cycling. After that you only need to add prime or safe during water changes. That's a high ammonia out of your tap, but the prime or safe will detoxify it long enough for your bacteria to convert it.

Hey there! I was hoping you could give me some advice! I recently just bought a 55 gallon aquarium, I’ve always wanted to keep a blood parrot. The tank was on sale so I decided to do it! I also want to keep African Cichlid. I’ve been trying to do my research and it led me to your channel. I was wondering if you could give me advice. Like how many should I get for a 55? Should I get 2 blood parrots? Can I keep a pleco with them? What kinds of Cichlids should I get? I watched your playlist for beginners and it’s help me a ton so I thank you! I’m just kind of at a cross roads and I am lost. Hoping you can help me, thank you very much! Hope to hear from you! Also keep up the great content! :)

after you put in your water conditioner when the tank is low, are you filling up the tank with just regular water from the sink/hose? or is the water you’re putting in the tank also treated with water conditioner.
