It’s so cool that they can literally pack up and move their entire set up somewhere else. Once there, they can then do additional modifications because it’s designed to be tweaked without major demo. That’s so much more logical. It would be cool to see their finished home project in the future. I love this show. It leaves me feeling inspired by the younger generation.

Since I didn't see any solar panels or water catchment systems I'm gonna assume they're not off grid? After living on a boat this place must feel like a mansion. I'm always impressed when people have the confidence to undertake things by simply watching KZbin videos.

It would have to be a generator or on grid due to the snow in winter (I'm assuming as the only panels I saw were on neighboring houses)

'Friland' is a designated society/community where people can build experimental homes. It is laid out from the beginning to be on grid. Most electricity in Denmark are from wind (and most heat from district heating from clean incineration of trash).

@Tomsdatter2 ай бұрын
It is almost impossible to live 100% off the grid all year round in Denmark. Some do it in the summer, for example in an allotment house, but you are not allowed to live there in the winter. In Denmark, there are many regulations and environmental laws that must be complied with with regard to waste, sewage conditions and water. These conditions must be in order. There are solutions that can be installed and make it almost possible to be off grid in relation to water, electricity and sewage. But these solutions can be expensive to install. Therefore, some live off grid in Denmark illegally, others circumvent the laws by settling in another person's backyard.

Yes I don't think this house would be allowed on a regular plot of land in Denmark but maybe they got a better plot in Friland. It's an eco village where people are allowed to build differently and experiment. The challenge with tiny houses is often where to put them - same is true in Denmark

This will be fascinating to follow up on in 5 or 10 years, especially after they move and if they have a few kids and build an addition. I can imagine a 2-story addition arranged in a T or L at the back of the house where they have their stairs and loft. You would need 3 bedrooms (masters bedroom, girls' bedroom and boys's bedroom big enough for bunk-beds), probably a 2nd bathroom and some sort of living room / play room area. The existing house would probably become the kitchen/dining/laundry area.

How can you legally move to a plot? Please explain!!!
@charonstyxferryman27 күн бұрын
1st In Denmark, you would has to be the owner of a plot to do the following, 2nd On the country side, which is called the "land zone", you will need at permission to put something on the ground, house, outhouse, barn. Basically everything who is going to be a permanent structure. An unused permission expires after 5 years. If your has building(s) who aren't yet constructed, you would to has to get a new landzone permission. 3rd A building permit After you had got that permission, you can start building. An unused permission expires after 1 year, i.e. because you hadn't yet started building e.g. the house. 4th a permission to live in the house: This is needed because the municipality are legally required to control that the building codes are adhered to. This prevents e.g. a building from collapsing in e.g. the first hurricane, because of sloppy work during construction, or the workers did something differently which makes the building dangerous for everyone in and around the building. The permission is only needed once. All tnew owners of the house doesn't need that permission with the exception of the house becomes a ruin, e.g. the house had burned to the ground.
