Since you've asked - here's some info on the ciphers and backmasked (played in reverse) messages with hints first, then a list of the ciphers in case you want to solve them yourselves, and solutions after a break. Sorry it's so long but we're covering a lot! The earliest episodes use the classic Caesar cipher, where every letter is moved the same number of places from the original. At the end of the first intro theme, there's a backmasked whisper that Sputnik caught but I don't think ever investigated, which says "Three letters back." Using that, you can decode the first set of ciphers, which replace each letter with the one "three letters back" in the alphabet. There are two other cipher types used up until now - Atbash (which reverses the alphabet, so A=Z, B=Y, Z=A etc) and the rarer A1Z26 (group the numbers in pairs and add those digits together to get numbers that correspond to letters A=1, Z=26 etc). There will be a lot more ciphers in future episodes and they are going to use a lot more methods, including combined ones. If you see garbled letters or a long number, it's almost certainly a code. And if you hear garbled speech, play it backward. There are other backmasked messages - usually one at the end of the opening, and also several hidden within episodes. For example, when Mabel is high on Smile Dip in 1x5 "The Inconveniencing," one of the dogs gives her a very important backward message that I really think you should go check out for yourselves on camera :) It's a bit garbled, but important! I'll put it down at the bottom after a second break in case you'd rather just know or can't make it out. Ciphers up to 1x9: 1x1 "Tourist Trapped" ending: ZHOFRPH WR JUDYLWB IDOOV. (Atbash) And, most importantly, on the page of Dipper's Journal visible in the intro: VWDQ LV QRW ZKDW KH VHHPV (Caesar, three back). Would love to see you decode all of these on a reaction now that you have the method, but especially this last one. Most episodes that use the Caesar cipher include a backmasked whisper at the end of the intro "Three letters back," while episodes that use Atbash say "Switch A with Z." I think there's also one that says "26 letters" as a hint about the A1Z26 code but forget which episode that appears on. Solutions under the gap! 1x1 "Tourist Trapped" ending: WELCOME TO GRAVITY FALLS. 1x2 "Legend of the Gobblewonker" ending: NEXT WEEK: RETURN TO BUTT ISLAND. 1x3 "Headhunters" ending: HE'S STILL IN THE VENTS. (Larry King's head is still in the vents). 1x4 "The Hand That Rocks The Mabel" ending: CARLA, WHY WON'T YOU CALL ME? (The "fine print" at the end of Gideon's commercial included pleas to Carla) 1x5 "The Inconveniencing" ending: ONWARDS AOSHIMA! (John Aoshima is the animation director, but Aoshima is also the name of Mabel's multi-headed flying dolphin friend from her hallucination) 1x6 "Dipper Vs Manliness" ending: MR. CAESARIAN WILL BE OUT NEXT WEEK. MR. ATBASH WILL SUBSTITUTE. (this was the clue to switch from Caesar to Atbash cipher methods) 1x7 "Double Dipper" ending: PAPER JAM DIPPER SAYS: "AUUGHWXQHGADSADUH!" 1x8 "Irrational Treasure" bonus cipher: BLIND 1x8 "Irrational Treasure" ending: E. PLURIBUS TREMBLEY. 1x9 "The Time Traveler's Pig" ending: NOT H.G. WELLS APPROVED And of course the one the Journal page from the opening sequence. If you're going to pick just one to decode yourselves on air, I recommend this be it! But if not, here you go: VWDQ LV QRW ZKDW KH VHHPV translates to STAN IS NOT WHAT HE SEEMS The backmasked message given to Mabel in her Smile Dip hallucination by a backward talking dog is: MUST DISTRUST GRUNKLE

Since you asked after the episode - and it's not a spoiler - it has not been confirmed to my knowledge but there are small things hidden in each of Owl House and Amphibia that the shows are set in the same universe. Real small Easter eggs for the most part, like you're never going to see Dipper show up in the Owl House or anything, but just a couple fun moments that make you go "HEY I KNOW WHAT THAT IS"

The time officers' nametags read Lolph and Dundgren respectively, a reference to actor Dolph Lundgren. After you pointed out the Time Traveller's Wife connection, I googled and he isn't in the movie but has starred in some time travel movies. I guess that plus his action star thing equalled perfect time travel bodygaurds.

I don't know if this could count as a spoiler, but here's a warning. Well, a lot of people don't like Mabel because they say she's selfish and that Dipper is always sacrificing things for her. And they use this episode as an example. But I disagree a little, in this episode, Mabel would be the one sacrificing something, so Dipper could have his "happy ending" with Wendy, and in exchange she would have to lose Waddles. Indeed, Dipper often stops doing things for her in future episodes, and her obsession with boys is relatively annoying, but I don't understand who hates her. And they blame the events of the last episodes on her as well. But they forget that she is just a 12 year old child 🤷🏻‍♀️

Congratulations on being the first reactors I've ever seen take this episode as intended and not just call Mabel selfish the whole time! Like so many time-loop movies or shows, going back to Groundhog Day at least, Dipper spends every iteration (except the last one) trying to undo a choice a woman made. It's kind of a disturbing trend with that trope. Using your time powers to rescue a pet is a much more noble goal!
